Chelle - we have the wider version of that vanity! DH got some wood to fit under the legs and stained it to match to make a kit-plate at the bottom to keep all the cat hair and dust bunnies (not that I have any ;-0 ) from collecting under it. He fit the wood behind the legs, so the basic look wasn't changed.

I triple ditto the knee pads! We installed Konecto wood-look plant vinyl flooring in the basement (the entire man-cave!!) Thankfully the guy we bought it from really gave us some good tips. Oh and get extra blades for the utility knife and a couple of pieces of wood to use so you can cut the tile with the wood behind without ruining anything. We went thru blades like no-one business!

**Pssst - I heard Beth's parents RoCk a paint brush! (just sayin!)

Great advice indeed! I have extra blades, so YAY! Have knee pads (bwahahaha, um...nevermind!), have piece of plywood to do cutting on (extra from Baby's cage), and had the SAME exact idea for the kick plate on the vanity (great minds and all ;)). The room is so tiny, it shouldn't be a long process...and as sure as I've said that "outloud", anything that CAN go wrong, will. I should really be able to get the ceiling and walls painted tonight and be able to get the floor started or done tomorrow night. Beth will be off Thursday, so we can get the vanity/sink/faucet/light fixture and possibly the toilet in. The trim might be a job that Beth's dad can help me with. :)

The stupid toilet is what started all this. My FIL replaced the wax seal thingy under it a few months aga....and last week it started seeping clean water from the base, like clear water was coming out of the sealent that he put around the base of the toilet. I think we might need a whole new toilet too. :glare: But I made note of what you said. Thank you.

ya you may need to go with a even thicker ring then but make sure it has the inner plastic flange, when you set the toilet on the ring you should have to press it down to get it to seat properly, if there is no resistance and the toilet goes immediatly to the floor you need a thicker ring. the one i linked will work in most instances but if the flange (thingy on the floor that the drain is connected to) is recessed into the floor a thicker wax ring will cure it. but like i said make sure it has the inner plastic flange connected to the wax ring to insure the toilet drains into the drain if not seated properly

So, yeah, there's a white plastic ring still stuck to the floor with bolts coming out of it. Do I need to remove that and get a new one as well as new bolts? I think I have to figure out how to get that thing up to put the new floor down anyway, no? It looks like it was on top of the old floor, which was just a sheet of vinyl flooring. Theres a tiny piece still stuck under it.

no thats stays its the toilet flange... you put the new bolts in the slots on the side of it and the wax ring in the middle of it. then hold the toilet over it and gently set it down over the bolts onto the wax ring, then push it down till it meets the floor. then gently tighten the floor bolts little by little til the toilet is snug, make sure you tighten the bolts the same amount to get it to seat properly

oh and good luck getting self sticking tiles to stick to that floor....
make sure they are plenty warm before you put them down, if you have to warm them with a hair dryer before setting them and then do the same to them all after the floor is done and use something like a rolling pin over them while you are warming them on the floor

i would really suggest unstickied linolium floor tiles and adhesive
