I've been reading the forum for awhile and just registered to reply to this thread. I started vaping in October, no plans to quit, only hoping to reduce the harm from smoking. I've been stunned- it's been more than a month since i had my last smoke, my emergency pack of cigarettes hasn't been opened, no weight gain and no crankiness. Two friends have bought e-cigs...since i was the last person they's ever have believed would quit. it's been amazing, and oh, yeah, I've saved a bunch of money

quite the sig-worthy quote there.
I agree with what Kurt has to say about that.... Sometimes I even forget to vape. I find my vaping occurs where the most of my smoking occured - first leaving the house, sitting at the computer, or driving someplace. That's when I vape. And a few times ritualistically before bed, in bed.

:)

Since I quit, I've convinced my sister to order a kit from CigNot, and my friend ordered a set for her dad, too.

I hope they both "get" it. They're not forums-type people, so neither of them will pop up here but.. I think I know enough to walk them through getting a 510 all prepped.

I have experienced similar effects. It used to be that if I couldn't smoke for several hours at a stretch I would have several nic lozenges to get me through. They worked as long as it was at most a day or so, but I would always have one in my mouth. Since vaping has all but replaced my analog intake, I can go much longer without anything, vaping or otherwise, before feeling the need. I get the impression that the nic that I am getting from vaping is actually remaining viable in my system longer than from smoking. Makes sense since much of the nic is absorbed orally, which is much slower than via the lungs.

I know someone not involved with this forum, but is using a 510, although with less success or interest than I am. He got his in Sept like I did, and claims his 3 bottles of 15 mL juices are still going strong! Hasn't killed one of his 3 attys! My response to that was oh, so you aren't using them much, and still smoking as much as before. Somehow he neglected to do the math...

Good luck with your friend and sister. The 510 is rather finicky to not be getting info here, or in another ecig forum. You may need to be on call for them when their cart filler is old, or their PV gets that nasty "feed me" taste.

CES, welcome! That's awesome! What ecig did you choose? Keep up the good work, and spreading the PV love!

Kurt,

I got a manual KR808d, lots of cartomizers, juice, extra batteries, and multiple ways to charge the batteries. Course, now, instead of going outside to smoke, i spend the extra time at work lurking on this forum...

I hear ya! I'm spending more time here than I should, for sure. I think ECF is more addicitive than nicotine!! :p I think it wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't do computer-oriented work for a living.

kr8 was a good choice. I don't use one (510 here) but it has a huge following and lots of great info here. Was thinking of trying one in the future at some point, but after modding my carts I can get at least 50 good hits out of it before refilling, so cartos are less attractive to me that in the pathetic initial days of using my 510.

Vape on!

6 days? a week now? Got some Banana flavor and RY 4 from AwesomeVapor (Thanks Arno!) And I love vaping. People everywhere are ASKING me "Can you blow that in my face? I want to see what it smells like" LOL - Certainly don't get that with analogs.

Only thing that's come to be a pain in the .... is all the waiting I have to Not do.
I've got free time and I dunno what to do with it.

You know, you'd wait 8 minutes to smoke before going into the store.. or before getting into the car (or OUT of the car if you smoked in yours).. or another 5 minutes to go smoke between cocktails and the entreee..

Now I'm doing things quicker and getting my fix quicker, I find I'm BORED with well.. say 37 cigarettes a day.. say half of them was smoked where I *had* to wait.... @ 5 minutes each that = 92 minutes time saved.. imagine that? very roughly, an hour and a half of my day was spent smoking outside or waiting for a cigarette to finish before I did something else. (like cook)... thank god I was able to smoke in my house.. otherwise I would've wasted 3 hrs of the day smoking on its own, outside on a porch or something.

yep these things are amazing. i'm really surprised there not a huge success in the states. i smoked 2 packs a day for the last 5-6 years, got this thing last saturday night, haven't had a smoke since sunday around 7 pm(just cause i had em left). tuesday i had some pretty bad cravings, but nothing that a fresh cart couldn't solve. i officially consider myself off cigarettes. and its weird becuase one second im going ot the mall to get shoes, next i come out of the mall with a 51-trio and i'm not a smoker anymore. didn't plan it or anything. can't wait for my 510 and the buttload of flavors i ordered :)

Only half a day into it with my 510, I must say I have cut back A LOT, but still feel the need to have a traditional analog every now and then. I have had 5 since this morning where normally I would be into at the least a half a pack by this point in the day. I live in NJ so I still have to go outside to smoke, and if I want to take a few puffs will have to wait outside before going in, but I am getting more and more optimistic that this is going to work for me.

haha, I know you mean by withdrawal withdrawal. It felt very odd to me in a strange empty way to not have the vast majority of my withdrawal completely absent. I still have an odd craving for an analog, but not a strong one, I think its just the habit part of brain freaking out slightly.

It wasn't a bad thing by any means, just interesting. Thank god for these amazing devices, miracle sticks as far as I'm concerned. The few analogs I have smoke have tasted gross and I'm generally not even able to finish one.

Now if only Janty can get the eGo back in stock I think I might have found my perfect all day pocket vape solution.

Awesome job quitting the smokes and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

I smoked 2-3 packs a day (depending on if I had some beers that night, sigh) for a LONG time, probably 15-18 years or so now.
10 days or so before Xmas 09 I saw the link on facebook, ordered a Joye 510 from nhaler and haven't looked back. I also didn't have the "OMG I'm going to kill someone" reaction when I quit, I just woke up the day after getting the joye and used that instead. If I even thought about smoking one of the old nasties, I'd pull up the link I have to my quitmeter and tell myself I really don't want to restart that clock, but I only did that twice, and the craving wasn't that strong, it was more curiosity on how much I didn't spend. (44 days today $537.44 saved so far LOL)
So far I've got my mom using one and I've handed out business cards to 3 people who were SUPER interested since all I had to give out were 3.
The wierdest thing to me, is saying nonsmoking when going into a bar or something....I'm just so used to being a smoker 8-o heh.

Welcome quartz!!!
Here is something you should look at...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...strated-guide-e-cigs-parts-1-through-6-a.html

It will answer a lot of your questions on what this is all about.

In short: Using PV's many of us gave up smoking without any effort at all...now spend about a 10th of what we spent on cigs...can get our nic fix whenever and where ever we want...no longer hack up a lung every morning...and don't stink like an ashtray. (I think that sums it up)

I try to recommend it to every smoker I come across.
