Well I just did the coke clean on my 901. Was fighting it all morning, trying to get a good draw. Finally gave up and plopped it in a cup of pepsi for about 10 min. Blew some pepsi through it, then washed it out with water. Blew out the extra water, shook it out, put in 5 or 6 drops of use. Had to puff on it for probable 10 or 15 rapid puffs, when it finally heated up and now its working great. I probable have put 50 ml of juices through this atomizer before this.

Tried mine after an overnite rest.......hade to do about 10 or 15 also....seems ok,still taste the coke though...might have to give a boil or wash to get the flavor out....will have to try this on a completly cold atomizer to see what happens.:)The Wiz!

Is the coke trick just for going dead atomizers or can it be used as a weekly maint cleaning? Also will coke work as I am asking because we dont buy pepsi lol..

Chok--The dead ones may be another issue--any heat out of them at all--give it a coke bath and dry it bone with a power it up with a battery, then reprime--and give it a go----Sun

Im not having issues with them but I am looking at ways to keep them working lol. I get plenty of heat as I do the blowing them out nightly. I am looking for maybe an added maintenance schedule to start as well. I suppose I could do the boiling trick but that doesnt sound like it would break up any of the baked liquids that may be building on the atomiser.

You are correct--Chok--While boiling may get rid of flavors and the like--It will not get the carbon build up off the coil of your atomizer. I have boiled atomizer coils for over an hour with Zero results upon inspection of the coil before and after---The cola bath may very well pan out to be a much more viable maintence route---Sun

Soaking in coke or pepsi seems to do a really good job of cleaning off some of the carbon type build up on the coils but 'nothing' at all seems to clean the shiny black lumpy stuff off of the coils.....It is my belief that if you have any of the shiny black lumpy stuff on the coil, it is some of the polyester cart material that has melted onto the atomizer and that is why even strong acids don't seem to have any affect on it.....acids are stored in containers made of the same kind of material.

Pete--I have been able to chisel the carbon lumps off the coil with a screwdriver after a cola bath--but that does not really help as you have to have the atomizer apart --still working on it--Sun

Lol as you say Sun you can 'chisel' it off but it doesn't help much because you have already ruined the atomizer to be able to get to it and study it.

I don't know, maybe it's just me but why bother with steam baths, coca-cola/pepsi baths, alcohol treatments, scraping with a screw driver, vinergar etc etc etc.

How much time do we really spend on trying to keep these atomizers going? If you calculate how much your time is worth (let's say $20.00 per hr) and multiply that by the number of hours you dedicate to trying to figure out Einstein's theory of how to keep your atomizer going, and comapre that to the average cost of an atomizer (around $10.00), most of us would have a warehouse of atomizers by now!!

I don't bother. For each of my e-cigs I keep an average of 4-5 atomizers on hand, rotate them and drain them out each night. when I have about 2 left, I order some more. There is to much life has to offer (and life is short) for me to be wasting hours and hours on end cleaning atomizers.

Just my thougts.

And when you can't order any more? What then?

Hey, I don't go nutso over mine either, but I'm not naive enough to think I'll be able to just order some more from my friendly USA supplier for the rest of my life, either.

Sorry I am not that rich. As we have SSI which isnt much. I cant afford to smoke analogs any longer nor could I afford to not quit so I am willing to spend my time trying to maintain and get the longest life possible out of everything I order.

Figuring out what I spent on e-cigs compared to buying patches and gum or analogs I am saving money already. Addiction or not I have to quit as my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer so I didnt have much choice.

Having an income of 2400.00 a mth go to 674.00 a month is tough so yeah I plan to get all the bang I can for my buck.

Blue Knight.......I'm with you on keeping the spares..and time spent on "trying" to keep these things working. On the other hand I am glad that we have the members here on the forum trying to discover a method of keeping these things functioning for longer periods of time.I for one truly appreciate their efforts. Some of the ""cleaning tips" work and some don't.One thing I am sure of though, is that in time someone here will perfect the cleaning method, and we'll all have a little more cash in our pockets!:)The Wiz!

Wish I can follow you on that Blue, a good portion of folks did switch for pricing issues, hell even my town jumped up to 55.00 a carton
I burned through a ridiculous amount of 901 & 801 parts. I stick w/ janty for the main reason of warranties, lets face it Janty is always slammed and/or out of stock + the high prices of parts. I did load up on 510 parts though. ;)
