I don't think I'm having any wick problems

Do you have a torch charlz?

I'm starting to notice that the phoenix actually might give "better" flavor for me...uh oh :) It seems to be more gentle on the sweet notes

I dunno, my buds have been out of wack lately, I'm simply vaping too much lol

I'm also, again, starting to think the nichrome coil I have tastes like crap. I *think* its just the 32 gauge, no matter what I do to it, it tastes like metal. I need to get me some kanthal.

Hi I think someone mentioned something about kanthol (sp?) wire and wanted to mention that places that do ceramics and have kilns usually have lots of that laying around. We use it in the kilns and other stuff.
Just also wanted to ask if u guys had seen the military batts that come in 808 and ego -style 510? I developed them myself! And mainly did the 808's for you guys :)

torching the wick/coil in the cup doesn't seem to work as well for me. IDKY. I've resorted to blowing in the led part of the battery. It's not as efficient but it seems to get things back on track. Hard to see exactly how the coil is glowing backwards in a mirror for spacing and other adjustment but it's better than nothing.

They fit fine on all 808 threads but don't fit all the way on the 510/901 adapters. Have you had problems on the riva? It's just a little weird. I still can't believe we've had issues since the drip protected posts came out and no one had put out an adapter specifically made for an 808 yet.

I'm here to muddy the waters

my new rank list for clearos, based entirely on ease of use and vape/flavor, is:

1) IKV vision 2.0 ohm (510): this thing is a beast. I tore it apart and rebuilt it the other day after weeks of abuse, this time with stainless steel. just like the original set up, its a fog machine. This thing puts out the thickest vapor I've ever seen. And the flavor is all there somehow. You do have to play with the nipple a bit though, but most of us like that kind of thing ::drum roll:: The first thing to give you issues will likely be a micro crack around the base, but its literally as bad as one drop after sitting for 4-5 hours, and I'm sure a piece of tegaderm or loctite would fix it. I've also used the guts in an Echo shell and it rocks. I'm convinced that part of the magic here is Isaacs coils, he's using materials in his cartos that I've never heard of anyone else using; I'm not sure if they're in the vision. And I can't say more than that, been sworn to secrecy.

2) VZ dual coil vision clearomizer, 1.5 ohm: This thing is a monster right out of the box, which is a first for me. I didn't play with a single thing. The vapor is pretty hot, thick, but still full of flavor. Dry hits are about as infrequent as a properly modded fluxomizer. The wicks also look different. They have a more fluffy cotton look to them, not sure why. I haven't taken them out and handled them yet though, so they could just be funny looking silica.

3) SI stardust: after spewing hate all over the Iturbos for never tasting right, these things have made me happy over the past few days. I don't know if they're actually different or what, but somehow they're perfect right out of the box, though I only have two, so who knows. NO gurgles, no drop down the center tube, and the drip tip/silicon set up is somehow not wrecking my flavor mojo. Its a little cool for my taste, but I have one rewired at 2.2 ohms with cotton wick and its right on time. Maybe its a slight difference in materials vs. the Iturbo, I dunno.

4) phoenix = fluxo: the phoenix has really grown on me. its a huge PITA, and I don't recommend them to anyone that doesn't love to mod and overcome frustration. You end up juggling dry hits with floods until you find the perfect set up, and I mean perfect, a slight change and its back to one of those extremes. the flavor is more balanced and full than a fluxo, the sweet notes come out stronger, even more than #1 and #2. But it lacks the heat and kick of the fluxo, so depending on my mood it can go either way.

This isn't a real 1-4, because they're all so close with little pluses and minuses. The most fiddle free is the VZ DC clearo, the best flavor/vape is probably the IKV vision. I think if I had to pick ONE it be the IKV vision, or the fluxo/phoenix, because of the flexibility with regards to rebuilding, putting them in different size tanks, etc. The stardust I actually find to be a PITA to rebuild because of the final step (sliding the wicks/coils down), if you miss once or twice, you will wreck your silica, or end up with a short, or both. And I'm not brave enough to start playing with parallel wiring yet, so that's not happening.

...My two cents on the 808 stardust/ce4+ types are these....Vision 808 Echo Transparent Clearomizer, 2.5 Ohm They are right there with the SI but lower ohms and hold more juice.

I bought 3 from a nHaler for $5 each. Additionally, I wasn't charged for shipping on the order, though I don't know if that is standard procedure from nHaler for small carto orders. I can't tell you precisely the resistance they arrived at as they have all been rebuilt as of last night. My recollection is that they were in the 'standard resistance' range. The 3 I purchased were clear with round tips.

Not exactly, its more like get an adaptor :) Or join me in trying to get iken to get an 808

And like I said, they are all close ;)

so your summation of the thread you started for a great 808 clearomizer roundup is to go get a 510. Nicely done, my friend!

LOL no! fluxos and phoenix are tied in that list, and they're both 4. But I'm being totally serious when I say, its CLOSE. That list could juggle tomorrow, honestly.

You'd have to pry my fluxos from my dead hands. It's really a mood thing.

The dual coil gets props for being entirely perfect (as a modded fluxo) out of the box.

The IKV gets props for producing ungodly amounts of vapor and maintaing flavor.

The fluxos are perfect when modded properly, but hotter and less flavorful than the phoenix and IKV. The phoenix is perfect when modded, and this is the largest PITA of all of em, but more flavorful than the fluxo and but less hot than the fluxo and IKV.

I left the stardust out because I'm spinning from a recent nic experiment and can't see straight.

Its a balance of ease of use (e.g. do I need to mod this?), vapor and flavor...

if you eliminate ease of use, IKV would be #1, and the rest #2...except if you consider that the IKV is the only clearo I've ever had that developed a micro crack in the shell...so maybe they'd all be # 2 :)

feel better?

Okay, okay, I feel a little better now Cyrus :)

But tied for #4? I feel like I'm missing out on the top 3, and have a bunch of fluxos on stock...

Anyway, I have a personal observation about the fluxos. I think the regular sized ones have a better draw than the XL's. What's your opinion on this?

Also, I find the drip tips that come with them a lil' too long for me. Do you know where I can get smaller ones that are about a half inch long?

I'm not a drip tip man myself, so I'm not much help here :(

I've also not used the regular size. My uncle has them, and he's missing the XL that I let him borrow and took back LOL. So I dunno. Is the draw tighter?

You're not missing out, like I said, I'd put it on a .... if they tried to take my fluxos. And 5 for ten bucks and infinite rebuild-ability and tubes that NEVER crack (on me anyway) is a big, big deal. Here's another nugget. I'd never go to work with a stardust in my pocket without wrapping it in paper towels, I don't trust them. Fluxos? No problem. the worst that happens is you get one drop of condensation down the center tube.

I also wouldn't go to a far away land with a phoenix because they can, and will spontaneously go to crap on you. They'll flood, stop wicking properly, then stop vaping properly, and despite multiple blow outs and wipes, keep flooding. And once in a while just totally leak out.

And the IKV cracked.

So fluxo and DCC are tied at number one for reliability :) See I'm practically recanting my ranking lol.

Yeah.......seems like I won't be on the bandwagon when they arrive. A ce3 will always be a ce3. You can take it apart and rebuild it but it is what it is. I miss the good 'ol days when anything in an 808 thread was simple and worked like a charm. I just don't have the energy any more to believe in the next best greatest thing so much I dedicate all my waking hours trying to get it to work half as well as they claimed.

Cyrus has horsey lips! LOL. I've been vaping on a ce2 all day with no tip and it was uncomfortable at times. All of mine came with hardware. I'm thinking now.....I don't think I've ever bought a drip tip except for the hard tips to replace the rubber tips of my echos.

Drip tips are everywhere. You want plastic....rubber....metal......?

I've been using the 3.5ML VISION CLEAROMIZER for the last week or so.
It has the same PITA easy fill seal that needs fiddled with, but at least it's a true easy fill with larger fill ports.
The good side, once you get it set to where it doesn't gurgle or give dry hits, you're good to go.
Great vapor and flavor for sure.
Mine are glued at the base, so don't remove the tubes for cleaning or they will not seal and leak like crazy.

I'm gonna give the VZ duals a try when they are back in stock, they look interesting!

I also just ordered some of the new CE2's & CE3's from vapor alley. Gonna give the new CE2's another go around (ya never know, maybe I just got a bad batch).

The CE4+'s (stardust) that I got for the wife are starting to show cracks, she has been using Ms T's snickerdoodle in them, which I believe to be the cause. I also ordered her some of the V2 stardust from Smoktech to try.

I think after this round, I'm gonna head into the rebuildable atomizer tanks that use the wire mesh for wicks.

The hunt never ends....lol

Rubber or plastic I guess. I just want something considerably shorter than the drip tip included in the fluxo pack.

I'm thinking of maybe using two Volt carto rubber mouthpieces, one on top of another sliced one. I'll let you know how it goes.

In the meantime, any suggestions would be welcome :)
