Clone or Counterfeit?

I'm so tired of seeing the word "clone" when referring to clear counterfeits - blatant rip-offs of an original design, name and all. Can't we just call a spade a spade?

I have no problem with people buying and using them, but can't we just refer to them as to what they actually are? Counterfeits rather than clones?

i prefer the term knock-off... the term clone implies an exact copy... material and all.
A knock-off is a cheap copy only meant to look like something of higher value.
some products are an in between the two...

But this topic it touchy with a lot of people... i don't know why, but many get but-hurt when you point out, that they have a knock off.

I get that a lot of people feel the need to start their own thread but this subject has been beat to all hell!
