Taking a break from the lawn work...and I've just got to chime in here (surprised tony? ;) )

I've been vaping for nearly 2.5yrs now, and rebuilding for close to 2 years. Someone said earlier, that everyone has owned and used clones. That's patently wrong. I've never purchased a clone device. Ever. And I never will.

Like Steve, I also work in manufacturing. Specifically precision machining, for many many years. That being said, there have been 1 or 2 authentic devices I've looked at that have been subpar. However, every single clone I've ever looked at has been less than perfect by a large margin. I choose original design and quality. Period.

I also live in the boonies...luckily cricket works well here...no contract, bring my own phone....unlimited everything for $60 a month.... Guess its the clone of at&t :p

At this time, Verizon is still my only good option. If/when that changes, I will go with whoever gives me the best value.

I just don't understand why supporting theft and counterfeiting is not only accepted, but encouraged in the vape world. It isn't in any other industry. People talk about the greed of the genuine manufacturers, yet it is those who propagate the theft for profit and those who drive it are the ones who should be taking a look in the mirror. Perhaps the 'need' to have dozens of branded counterfeits speaks of a larger issue...

In all the other industries, the creators of something use trademarks and patents, of they didn't, the copying would be just as prolific

SMtec GmbH is the owner of several trademarks and design protections in different markets around the world. In order to protect our customers, our partners and our company, we feel impelled to keep records on trademark infringements and to initiate legal actions against breaches without further warning. A breach is defined by using mentioned protected trademarks to advertise for and/ or the distribution of counterfeit products, as well as products using these trademarks, that have not been given permission to do so. A breach can and will be prosecuted retrospectively to the day the trademark has been filed.

Don't be silly. This is not a clone thread by any means.

My question was where did you try the Svoemesto K4 when it first came out?

You didn't believe I owned a Provari. You wouldn't believe anything I said anyway. Stop talking to me, we don't and never will get along. You like to make problems here with many members.

You don't even have a K4.

No not at all :)
The difference being though, when I was on #teamcheapmod you didn't talk to me any different. And helped me get on #teamelitist

Why then hasn't Svoemesto stopped it? Others have. I know stopping all of it is near impossible, but once you stop the biggies like FT, the rest usually stop.

FT stopped carrying fake Hanas because the US vendors who were ordering them and re-selling them stopped after the lawsuit, not because FT was sued. FT and the 'clone' shops are in China, which makes litigation pretty much impossible...

somehow the vape industry has been given a pass on counterfeiting by calling them clones ... Svoemesto would certainly send legal cease and desist to vendors selling cheap counterfeits as authentic Svoemesto product ... however, the unscrupulous Chinese Counterfeiting Goliath can never be stopped.

I just read somewhere, knockoff Apple watches are already being sold before the original is released.

They hit FT through Paypal. Can't sell it, stop carrying it, or at least logoed ones. Stattqualm and Taifun and v3tronix did it.

They either got lucky or had great lawyers. Footoon got played really badly. But they got FT back by taking an aqua v3 that was all kind of screwy, not even vapabale. Not only did it get cloned but as of last week was still for sale. Lmao

I would like to see just what they have trademarked and copyrighted/patented etc..
A Google search so far only brings up their "warning note". My guess, they are in the filing process, with nothing issued yet. Like Hana products, if they trademark their logo, I won't purchase any clone with the logo on it, if they patent their design, I won't purchase any copies that don't pay royalties to them.... That's how the system is supposed to work.
Until a logo is trademarked, it's not really a logo, just some fancy artwork on a device.
A patent doesn't stop others from using that design, they just have to pay to use it.
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

Im sure the apple watch 'clones' will be indistinguishable from the real thing...lmao.

The difference is that RTA/RDA designs, by and large, are not protected or protectable by patent and they are very easy to copy, often in a way that they are improved. Thats life. Im not condoning cloning/copying/counterfeiting but if you are selling a product that has no legal restrictions (legal not moral) on being duplicated then that could be a very bad business model...

Did he get played? Or did he lie about where they were really made? Or did his Korean machine shop farm them out? None of us really knows.

I want the new Aqua SE, but honestly, I don't know if I trust him. I don't care if its really made in China, I just want to be told it is like eXvape does with the eXpromizer.

Patents are a long process, and expensive as well. By the time a modder got one for a vape product, the product would be yesterday's news. Things are moving too quickly in this industry.

Should they trademark their logos and name? Of course. If they choose not to though, oh well.

If more modders stomped on them for using trademarks, they would stop copying them. And then the discussions here would mostly come to an end.
