Ahoy!

It's Tuesday, what happened to Monday? arrrrrr

Well, not much going on here but I really need to get started on the next batch. I also need to run around to the local lumber stores and find some more cherry wood for desk caddies as I'm almost out.

Other than that, not much new....

Waho, what color is that? Looks like hospital green....and if you locked urself out, how did you get back in?

Have a great week all, yo ho!

Ahoy! Hope your happy with it. The African Mahogany has always been near the top of my favorite woods list. It's gorgeous with great hues and colors and still a lighter wood that doesn't feel like it's made out of concrete.

Congrats!

Tuesday..... Stalking the mailbox and waiting for my new RSM Cruiser 3.7v 6ml feeder. It's not supposed to be here until Thursday so I'm a little early.

I'll have to make a few more Cruiser models for the website while I'm waiting on resolution over the dna regulators. I am hesitant to start the batch in case I need to alter the designs for a different regulator.

I'm pretty sure I will be. The design isn't as purdy as some of the more exotic mixed woods I've seen, but the simplicity of the African Mahogany drew me in. Looks really good with the black hardware. I hope it feels good in my hand. Did the measurements and it's just a tad larger than my Reo Grand which is awesome in a wooden mod. If it's comfortable I'm sure I'll be get another one. Maybe with a fancier "door" wood. :p

Thanks Capt'

Ken

Shame on you Waho......................
Well we've already managed to lock ourselves out, but we've also got the master bedroom/bathroom almost done along with the kitchen.

My lovely girlfriend told me "absolutely not!" when I said I was posting this photo of her painting :D

The Cruiser's that I make for the website have always been pretty low cost for RSM's. I've avoided 70 or 80 bucks on the price by not having to use a DNA regulator, hours of labor, and the much pricier body and panel woods. I've kept the shape the same so they conform to the new RSM style though.

I like having them on the website too as many people still prefer non-regulated mods and the minimal hassle of using them.

Next batch will have fancy Cruisers too.

It's like a light olive green, it looks much better in person. Looks nice with the off white/grayish trim. Eventually going to throw some darker mahogany flooring and add in our custom made cedar bedroom set.

Had to call a locksmith to get back in. Worst part was finding one to actually do it. My drivers license didn't have the address on it and the paperwork wasn't going to be in my hands before today. The advantage of living next to a city with a top 10 crime rate in the nation is that you can keep calling locksmiths until you get the sketchy no questions asked one to let you in.

The African Mahogany is great!!! It is no where near as plain looking as I thought it would be from the pix... and you are right on about the lighter weight of this lovely wood. Mine's got a whopping HUGE and HEAVY 26650 battery in it and it's barely heavier than my Woodvils. With the battery out, it's lighter (bloodwood is heavy tho), but physically larger. I'm very happy with mine, and the finish is just OUTSTANDING. I don't know what kind of finish it is, but I like it!!

Ha I could see that being a problem.

I swear that looks exactly like the picture on the website. Usually pictures on websites are more flattering, but when you get the product it's either darker or lighter or a different shade then what it looked like. Yours is pretty much looks like the one Brian used for the photo. LOL

Question: what should I do to keep the finish nice without turning it into a waxed polished lacquered looking mod?

You are talking about me. :p and one of the reasons I bought the Cruiser is because it WAS under $200. Once I know a company and the quality of their products it's easier to spend more, but for a first time buyer it's hard to throw down a big chunk of cash for an "unknown" even with other people's recommendation.

Oh and yes please on the fancy Cruisers.

For this mod I would avoid a paste wax as it can fill the wood pores with wax and look kinda bad. Lots of people (including myself) use "Howards feed N wax". It shines it up and also keeps the wood moisturized a bit to keep it stable in changing weather.

Well Kentastic, I think you will be pleasantly surprised once you have it in hand and even more so when you see how well it performs. I also agree with the Howard's Feed N Wax. Best stuff ever! A soft micro cloth does wonderful for applying and then buffing a little. Home depot not only sells the Howard's, they sell the cloths too. Mine are light blue and came with 24 in it I think. I wash mine in the washing machine but I don't put them in the dryer.
