Well, see now, you just confused everyone:). You wanted the top right one... AND WHICH OTHER ONES so people who want Cruisers can pick around you? :D

honestly, i'm happy to wait til everybody gets their picks.

mebbe Cappy will reconsider my retainer if i send it with a magical block of wood of my choosing

The ones i have - with the exception of the one GG likes, which i just grabbed off the website, i have had Cappy make specially.

They are one-offs, as they all are - but they are ones where i chose the woods and switchgear etc. My suggestion is that that could be accommodated along with the making of a regular 'website sale' batch, if you follow.

I only use bottom fed mods, so tank inset ones are of no interest to me, regardless of the wood.

Naturally, the specially made ones would attract a premium price, but there is no reason they could not go hand-in-hand especially since a custom mod is a guaranteed sale.

You know what I need? I need some big name company to buy me, then let me do my job and they take care of all the paperwork. I would even let them handle special ordering and all the paperwork that entails. Honestly, I just want to spend my whole time in the shop smelling like saw dust. Spending half my time on overhead is what makes this job less fun than it could be... yuck .. paperwork.

i know a retired ex-programmer with time on his hands! Maybe he could streamline things.

He bulk buys mods! Why do you not have a simple form on your website for custom orders - and limit choices at any time to woods that you have, rather than chasing all over the show for Brazilian spalted frog wood or whatever?

that would be a once every 2 month thing then - to update the wood choices?

All those details form a work order for you and a shipping label (since Trunker will fill in his address etc) and you can get on with what you like to do.

"pay me" "click - paid" "ship it".

ETA - none of this would stop you making whatever you liked for general sale - to showcase and sell on the webpage.

I like your thinking SuperT. If I and others (you know who you are) could send Cappy our magic wood meeting his specs for a RSM mod; it is a win-win situation for both parties. The order/invoice senerio you laid out is effective in its simplicity. I would think it would give RSM a broader client base into another segment of the specialty mod market.

There happens to be a website that works just that way now for custom orders... works very well too (won't post a link to a competitor's site here).

Or you can just do Pdib's system of having a bunch of boxes for the next batch, and putting all the instructions and materials for 1 order in 1 box so you can't confuse em:).

That's it, I'm stopping for the night.

While the Cruisers were drying I was sanding the rest of the other mods. I was gonna take a mod for myself and I decided on a B&W ebony that I was working on. Well I grabbed it and found that it had cracked again. Blast!! Thats two lost mods this batch. The trouble with woods like ebony is that when it is hollowed out, the insides suddenly get a chance to dry more than they were and do so. They also tend to shrink more and with a dense wood that often means they crack.... .....

As for the pre-ordering of mods, I did that for 3 years don't forget, and it's just this year that I stopped taking them for personal reasons. I won't be going back to it. Sorry!

Hi Cappy

I send you a MP for Cruisers :)

Yup, I got it. Tomorrow I will sit down and look at the time of receipt for the PM's and E-mails I have and try to figure out who grabbed what first. Heh, it's kind of a mess.

I think the first 4 cruisers are still available, the rest are probably taken.

I'm about to wash the dust off and as suggested grab a cold rum and take it easy for a while.

Cappy, look, I know everyone is chomping at the bit here, but why don't you take a break tomorrow? Yes, you can all get mad at me too for even suggesting it for all I care. But I think it is obvious that we ( myself included) have overwhelmed him just a little. Okay hell, maybe a lot :) Take a break Brian. I know that even on the on the one I chose you said there is a very good possibility that it did not survive something and It may not be up to your standards. I will survive I promise. I think it is a blessing that we have a modder that takes such pride in his work that if something is even a little off he's not gonna sell it. Truly I don't mean to come off sounding like a bi$#% either, but lets all just give the guy some breathing room. At least for the day tomorrow. ha ha.
