The finish he uses does have a strong odor for a while. I talked with Marcus about my new one and he said it had been sitting on the shelf for a month before being posted for sale. So most likely around 6 weeks since finished and it still had a strong newly lacquered smell to it when it arrived. Luckily it does go away though.

Odd about the misfires. Have never had a misfire on any of my Boggers but any electrical connection can fail. I believe Marcus is out of town for a couple of days so be patient awaiting a reply. Should be back Thursday if not sooner.

Thanks Rob. Yeah I didn't think it was normal to get misfires on a electronic switch so I figure the switch is bad or something.

It's very odd about the odor lingering that long while sitting on the shelf. Especially because, even as strong as it was, after two days outside, the odor is barely noticable now.

I will try and get some photos of my new Bogger up later tonight. When it arrived, I thought the lacquer finished was not cured and the bubble wrap had stuck to it and messed up the finish. So I stripped the lacquer off of the whole exterior of the box and sanded it then gave it a natural oil rub and have been soaking it in Howards FeednWax to condition the wood. Turns out it was not the lacquer, it was a little wax that was put on it to protect the finish during shipping. DOH!!

Luckily it turned out beautiful anyway and hits like a freight train.
I'm so jealous! yep we need some pic. here bogger bogger come here boy time to come home

Can this guy make a piece of wood art or what??? Redwood Lace Burl by Nature, perfected by Marcus Petroski.

The natural finish is very nice to hold and look at but not near as durable as the shiny finish Marcus puts on his boxes. It requires regular applications of oil or wax to keep the wood from drying out and cracking as it does not hold up well to the every day handling that a mod like this gets. My Koa vv Bogger with the original lacquer finish is 7 months old and gets used daily and still looks brand new with no more than a wipe down occasionally with a damp clean cloth.

Whatever finish mine had on it was definitely not cured because it still had a very strong odor...had to air it out outside for a couple days. It is a different finish than the first one I bought. I actually like it more because it's not ultra shinny and I can feel the wood instead of a clear coat. Expect a pm Rob, I want to refinish both of mine like you did :).
Although I need to hit Marcus up first because the switch on my new one is getting WAY to many misfires.

I think maybe it was user error with the switch because it worked just fine last night. Maybe my atty wasn't seated right or something.
