We've been getting earthquakes here in north TX. Two today, I felt the second one just minutes ago:blink:

Thanks for the link, my first two attempts were pitiful.

That guy never really mentioned what gauge wire he was using or a target resistance. All I got is 22 and 24 then it jumps up to 32, 36 and 38 gauge.

Also, is it possible to drill out this kayfun 3.1 to get more air through it?
Stay safe! I hear the safest place in your house to go is under a door frame but I have very limited experience with earthquakes.

On my kayfun I like to run 1-1.5 ohm coil on my kf using 26-30 g wire.

Morning all. Happy Hump day!
Great videos, Bert. With those out in the universe, you might want to consider doing another run, lol.
Earthquakes in Texas! Who'd have thunk?
Jd, WTH do you do with 38 gauge wire? Sutures?
Seriously, I use 28 gauge kanthal, though I've used 32 gauge in the past. I find 28 gauge much easier to work with. If you want to use 32 gauge, a 5/4 wrap should give you about 1.7 or so ohms (according to my coil toy app, lol). Personally, I have all of my Kayfun-ish devices (KFL, Russian, Lemo) at around 1.2 ohms (a 7/6 wrap on a 2.5 mm rod using 28g Kanthal). I don't like sub-ohms on a KF type device; I don't think you get enough airflow for it.
If it's wrapping the coil you're having problems with, I'd recommend this
QVapes Coiler
I sucked at wrapping coils until I got one. They're pricey, but it's a one-time purchase. There's another one at the site which is kind of similar and a good deal less expensive. It looks a little unwieldy to me however.

Kewl, thanks for the info guys. As suspected I now need supplies. That 36 gauge wad when I was experimenting with the iatty and has been in the drawer for a few years now. The heavy gauge stuff was for me trying to rebuild Atlantis coils, hardly worth the effort.

I have a cheap coiler that works good enough and actually had it working for a little while last night. Just wish it had more airflow is all. Same with that erl I ordered, want more airflow.

Hi guys, hope y'all are staying warm.
Well I broke down and ordered an Istick 30 tonight. It looks like a great little device to go out and about with. The reason I'm ordering it now is that my DNA 30 box mod is tripping out (and not in a good way). No matter what I set it at, when I fire, I can sit and watch it move down to 7 watts. Why I have no idea. And once it's there, you can't adjust it again without removing and replacing the batteries. Any ideas?

Sounds like the down button may be sticking or shorting somewhere... I'd take out the batteries and follow the wires coming from the down button to make sure they aren't crossed or touching the case... You could also try pushing the down button repeatedly or spraying it with a can of air in case some dust, pocket lint, or random crud got stuck in it.

Good Afternoon Trippyville,
I'm looking at the plasma tank pictures/videos thinking I need to make this happen at some point. I gave my cloned Russian to a friend who is loving the Ivogo-clone Kayfun minis so maybe he can get it to work without leaking. My Kayfun Minis seem to be a better vape to me anyway but Bert's plasma tank is pushing me towards trying a real KFL to see if my issues were tied to that particular clone of a clone. I typically wrap 10/9 micro coils with 28AWG Kanthal on a very small finishing nail and just a touch of organic cotton. Usually hitting 1.2-1.3 ohms with 4.25V on the VV Grand. This is the configuration I use on everything and man do all the videos seem to use much bigger ID coils with 4x as much cotton. Recently I've been lurking Vaperev's site checking out the KF 4.0 and I really like the ability to turn off the liquid feed and lose the Slee Stak noise that Mrs. Brew found annoying while watching TV. One of my VV Grands, died on me last weekend...Not the GITD thank goodness. So I'd really like to find an alternative to live on my Dark Star DNA30 mod. I used the VV Grands at night when home and love that regulated consistency. So I too say "Release the Plasmas" with another build for the masses. I hope everyone is having a good day and looking forward to an awesome weekend. The Colts play Denver so I'm going to be really torn between my loyalty to Peyton and all he did for Indy versus Mr. Luck who is earning his paycheck. It's going to be fun for even this "didn't get the sports gene" guy to watch....Go Physics!!

Hi all, hope y'all are staying warm.
Bert, I tried blowing everything out and giving things a good cleaning and it's still reverting to 7 watts. I'm pretty sure it's the board. I'm considering going against the grain, pull out my 32g kanthal and make a 2.7 ohm setup for my Magma and just use it at 7 watts, since Josh built it for me and he's not doing DNAs anymore. I've got my Istick coming as well as my DNA40, so I can muddle through with my Dragon tin til then.
