I get a lot of spit back on my low pro atty's like the Thump (which I absolutely love btw) when my wicking isn't right. For me more wick is better, I tend to stuff the coils with a lot of cotton & keep the tails long. Yeah, I know you can squonk whenever you want but I like to get around 5 good pulls per squonk, YMMV.

I adjusted the pin down. Just wanted to make sure it was ok to stuff the pin down in the bottle cap before I did so. Is probauly about an 8th of an inch of the 510 post that goes down in the bottle now. As long as it's fine for the mod doesn't bother me none ya know brother. The connection on that thump is a long one for sure. On another note any way having problems with spit back for the thump I put the delrin tip with spit back protection on it from the aramizer works great. Does not block air flow and does not hit the top were the post screws are either. Only good thing I got out of that aromizer junk 3ml and 6ml version went in the trash almost emedietly after purchase.

bummer i love my aromamizer...dig that back out...lol.

Guys has anybody experienced this metallic taste when vaping? Is it something that has to do with the build?

Doesn't narrow it down much but..
It could be the build, bad wicking, or the juice.

Sometimes instead of trying to figure out which I will just start with a fresh build - wire is cheap.

If this is on a squonker, some tubing could be adding a funk to the taste. On my CAM-M I don't like using the blue high temp stuff for the feeder tube. I mostly use light 4% or lower flavored juices and I get a rubber hose taste using the blue stuff.

I had that a few weeks back on a squonker.
Washed out the atty and put in a new build with rayon from a different supplier and it was sorted.

I think I may have had something on my hands when I was wicking

Cyclone with "AFC" cap no? Not much room on the Cyclone deck as you already know. The VAC was the only atty I used in my early sqounk life. Still have several and use them to this day on occasion. You probably also know that coil positioning is everything as well. Assuming you are dry pulse burning your coils before you wick them up, give this wicking method a shot. I call it the tuck and tail. Cut and tuck next to the curb ( negative post) and then leave a tail long enough to wrap around the positive post to the other side being careful not to block off the air gap in between the posts. Make sure to leave a good air gap under the coil. If you are using a clone SS drip tip, this can do it as well. Try changing up to derlin or glass or for that matter even another tip.

If you've tried everything that has been suggested, It may just be your taste buds which obviously means the Cyclone is not for you.

Best of luck to you and let us know if this helps...

I have been using the cyclone most of the time since I started squonking about a month or two ago..and yes..that's the wick I usually use (though a bit shorter and it's usually a scotish roll)..I position the coil at the same height as the airhole and I use the Cyclone's original drip tip..and yes it is with AFC. I only started getting this taste last night...but it was great till then...I love the atty really and it suits me just fine.

I tried another build..and this taste is still there..not as pronounced as it was yesterday though...so maybe I should give the atty a good wash
