Hi there!

Ive noticed a bit of a backlash against chasing clouds from a few posters. I wonder why that is? While i do prefer a more powerful and flavorful vape alongside relatively robust clouds, im not particularly interested in the cloud chasing hobby. I like my nicotine and i like tasting my juices. Beyond the novelty of blowing huge plumes of vape, i dont see myself as a cloud chaser.

But i dont have anything against them.

For me, vaping is both hobby and necessity to avoid analogs. Im an addict. Im not ashamed of that. But i can appreciate the purely hobbyist approach to vaping. But why, o' leavened and unleavened masses of the forums, is there ANY backlash against cloud chasing?

I mean, is it so bad to spend the equivalent of a mortgage payment on vaping equipment?

I have no issue with the cloudz chasers. Their money, their choice.

My grip is with the industry's obsession with serving this segment while neglecting the other end of the spectrum - small, discreet, with no visible vapours devices (and no, holding breath for 10 seconds for "stealth vaping" is not an acceptable solution).

My prediction is that whomever comes out on the market with a (patented) device similar to the Quickmist, that can be used to inhale, and produces no visible mist and no detectable odours, and is licensed and sold as a drug in the quit-smoking-aids category, will make a killing in the vape market.

There is backlash against unsafe vaping practices and not gaining the relevant knowledge.
I agree that is a part of it, but over the past few months I have seen countless posts regarding cloud chasers (and to some, I guess that term simply means the person blows a bigger cloud than they do) that are fairly derogatory in nature, and have nothing to do with the safety aspect of the build.

What both those posters said. I sub ohm i use a mech.

I also understand the bs marketing of these so called vaping batteries many chasers don't for some reason.

Several problems in general
First believing a mystery company can suddenly make the best batteries the planet has ever seen- just for vaping. ( when they don't even actually manufacture ANY batteries)

Then pushing batteries, any of them well beyond their intended usage.

Extremly low and dangerouse builds for no apparent benefit. Somehow people dont seem to get that a 45 amp build cant pull 45 amps from a battery if it only makes 30. Yet its look at me im at 145 watts! Um no, no your not. Your at whatever the battery is limited to. To add to that batteries aren't designed to run at pulse voltage continuously. Its only there for a buffer so the cell isnt damaged during a surge, yet many think this is the way its supposed to be used.

Do you really need a .14 ohm build? To many rebuilders this shows you chose brute forcing a build instead of learning how to actually tune and balance abuild for best results

The amount of people talking about vented batteries didnt become a common occurrence until these off the wall cloud chasing builds became popular

Not all, but many seem to disrespect any and all who do not agree with their choice or choose to vape a different way.
Many posts about b&m employees with condiscending attitudes towards customers not interested in going thermal with thier atty's

theres already something like that. You just mix your flavorings with mostly water. There actually are eliquids out there that are sold mixed like this and create little to no vapor when exhaled, I cant remember the name of the company but that english fellow with the teeth did a review of it on youtube. Never got popular obviously, because the majority dont like to vape invisible flavored air. Also those vapers that hate on 'cloud chasers' just to hate on them, would never vape this kind of product that produces no visible vapor, whether they admit it or not, because it already exists and no one talks about it because no one likes vaping invisible vapor.

found it:

its called 'clear steam', but basically you can make your own DIY liquid that produces the same effect, flavoring with some pg and mostly water.

Agreed but it still produces some vapor, and it's also to be used in the current vaping gear - which the public at large can easily recognize as e-cigs (they only pretend they don't, as to be able to accuse you of "smoking" or worse - they just love to complain of everything they can).

I'd love to see one looking like an Albuterol inhaler. That they wouldn't be able to tell from something that they can't complain of (with the risk of being themselves in hot water for assault if they misidentify the thing).

When the complainers have some skin in the game too, they stop complaining.

well my reply was mainly in response to that statement there. the industry isnt ignoring the other side of the spectrum, there is discreet eliquids, and there are discreet 'stick style' batteries that exist still, and stick style batteries with no LED on the end. So you can get as discreet as you want. Fact is nobody switches to vaping to completely hide it, otherwise why vape at all, just use a patch. They wouldn't make a killing trying to create something that delivers nicotine that delivers no vapor and hides the fact that you are vaping because they already exist. It's called nicotine patches and nicorette gum.

It has nothing to do with safety sure they will say it is because it sounds more noble than the truth. They have decided that unless you vape like they do youre a cloud chasing, disrespectful adolescent. And since most of the mods vape in a similar manner we get the short end of the stick.

This seems to be the "fat-free, sodium-free rice cake" version of vaping -- flavorless and wholly unsatisfying. :D

The patches are probably the least effective as they do not create spikes of nicotine delivery in response to cravings. What they do is a flat delivery curve that is not very helpful.

The gum does create a spike, however it's slow release, which combined with the mouth absorbtion (also slow), leads to the shape of said spike being not particularly sharp. Also, it does not address the "inhalation" issue - something that former smokers miss a lot.

The quickmist does create a sharp spike and is considered by many as the most efficient device in taming bad cravings. There's still no "inhalation", if that could be added, such device could be the best thing since NRTs were invented.

Add a "medical device" shape to stop cold the complainers, and you have a winner. If it has no coil, it's all for the best since Dr. Antz won't be able to burn the propelent and complain of formaldehyde or whatever.

A perfect example of a very recent comment (night before last) by one of our "regular" posters in a popular thread was that the ONLY reason vapers blow clouds, is to show off.

Well, here I sit, as I type this, in my hobby room (wife is out shopping) with a Sigelei 150w mod, running a Starre tank with a 2.5ohm coil, vaping at 55w, and blowing some decent clouds.

Soooooooo.....who am I showing off to exactly? I vape like this for 1 reason.......I enjoy it. :vapor:

well, to be fair you could be showing off to yourself and enjoying your own clouds. Lol, im doing the same thing in my own room by myself on a el cabron RDA with full VG on a 0.2 ohm build on a mech, jkust blowing away because I enjoy it, and im not gona lie, i love to see the gigantic thick clouds.

I think what you're proposing would be a GREAT alternative for those who are into cigarette/nicotine cessation and, for whatever reason, didn't find success with either the patch or the gum. But for the rest of us who vape as a healthy alternative to smoking but who still really enjoy the experience of inhaling and exhaling vapor (whether chasing clouds, "tootling" puffs or anywhere in between), I think a nearly "invisible vape" will be a mostly disappointing experience.
