I need some help. I just recently got into cloud chasing and i got a little boy with dual macro coils at .2-.3 ohms at 45-50 watts(IPV 3 Mod) and 80/20 juice but when i try it, it doesn't produce much vapor. Air holes are completely wide open exactly where the coils are positioned. Only problem is i'm using a crap battery (ultrafire 5000mah) and it only reaches 3.4 volts. Could it be my batterie's discharge ate is low?
I'm expecting to get some "vtc5" batteries i got off ebay(85% sure they aren't legit vtc5s) so i'll see if that makes a diff. Just thought i'd ask.

Update: Got the VTC5 batteries and still the same thing. Not as much vapor. My new coils are at .3-.4 ohms with 24G kanthal and wrapped about 6 times but still not as much vapor.

I literally have the exact same setup! Only difference I notice is you're using a heavier guage wire, I'm using 26 awg kanthal . I get clouds with 30w and two coils wrapped 5-6 times about 3mm, ill try to get pics of my setup. Also using purple efest imr18650 35a batteries.. 24g wire shouldn't hamper your vape that much. If you have a vape shop nearby that can let you try a couple efest or mxjo batteries that may help.. Lots of junk vtc5 clones out there or rewrap junkers.

80 pg or 80 vg juice?
It is recommended to use 2 matched / married 30a CDR batteries in the IPV3. It will not function properly using protected or low CDR batteries.

VTC4 2100 mah 30a cdr
Xtar 2100mah 30a cdr ( rewrapped vtc4)
Orbtronic sx30 2100mah 30a cdr
- - - - - - - -

Some folks use 2 at least 20a cdr batteries.
AW 1600mah 24a cdr
Samsung 20r 2000mah 22a cdr
AW 2200mah 20a cdr
Samsung 25r 2500 mah 20a cdr
LG he2 / he4 2500mah 20a cdr (same battery re wrapped and mislabeled by efest as 35a)

Only buy batteries from reputable vendors / dealers to avoid fake / clone / re wrapped lesser quality batteries.

RTD Vapor
Illumination Supply
Lighthound
Orbtronics

The efest purple 35a is a rewrapped and erroneously labeled 20a cdr battery same goes for the mxjo.

I use two VTC5s that are married in the device or while charging. I've never split them up. My current e-juice is 80%VG/20%PG.

I doubt the vtc5's are authentic.

I run dual coils, .35ohms at 65w. 26g 4 wraps each. Maybe more power is needed?

Well again mines is at .2-.3 ohms, dual coils, 24G kanthal, and about 7-8 wraps each coil w/ 45-50W. Even then i realize that if i inhale slowly it will be really hot sometimes even too hot it makes me cough a lung.

Why buy them if they are pretty much guaranteed to be fakes? The look? Just about anything authentic will outperform re-wrapped laptop cells...

Well to be fair i wasn't at the 85% range until AFTER i bought them. I kind of had to take their word on it when i bought them, then after i ordered them and they shipped out, i saw some youtubers mention its HARD to come by VTC5s now a days. Thats when i realized i f'ed up. booo hooo :(

You've got an awful lot of wire in there...I suggest giving it more power. Try taking out your wick and just dry-firing the coils, you want them to turn red throughout (from the inside out) in a little under a second. Adjust power until this happens. Any longer and you'll lose out on vapor and flavor. Any faster and you'll probably cook your juice and/or wick.

Ok i'll give that a try. I think at that rate i would only be able to take a 2-3 second hit, any thing more and i'll feel like i'm breathing fire.

Cloud chasing with premade coils? Subohming what looks to be a VV device?

Wouldnt you get better clouds with max VG juice and a higher ohm build with more surface area?

Also you said you draw slowly and its hot. I get big clouds with a ton of air flow and sucking extremely fast and hard. If I draw slow at those wattages its brutal and it sizzles and pops and stuff.

I subohm on my box mod but not nearly that low. I think it actually detracts from your capabilities. There is a reason box mods arent allowed in competitions. Utilize the advantages. On a mech mod the coils ohms determines the wattage. That goes out the window with a VV device. You can push much more wattage to a larger surface area.

Pre-made coils as in i wrap them ahead of time so when the time comes i just switch them out. Tbh i've just recently got into cloud chasing a little less then a month ago. I was told by some friends and the guy at my local vape shop that an IPV3 would be good for cloud chasing but they never told me how many ohms i should be running and i have no idea how to get my ohms up. I'm all ears for any advice i can get, and it is all greatly appreciated. I'm expecting my Pegasus mech mod today so we'll see how that works out.

The beauty of using a high variable v/w mod is you don't have to build low sub-ohm coils to get a great vape. In fact, low sub-ohm coils defeat the purpose of using said devise, and work against you.

Check out this thread: My thoughts about sub-ohm and latest VV/VW devices...

COILING CALCULATOR

Here are a few links for you regarding building coils and getting the resistance just where you want it:
1. Steam Engine
2. Coil Toy Calculator

Make sure to check your build with an ohm reader or DMM before putting it on your mod and firing it.

The Steam Engine is much more than just a coil calculator. I consider it my "All in One" vaping calculator.

What are you using to wick the build ? Try using Samsung 25R 18650 batteries I haven't heard of them being cloned. Finding Authentic VTC 5 batteries is extremely difficult now.

I am using just reg cotton. Too lazy to really go out and buy anything else but will do it if needed. My batteries are rated for 30A CDR so i think it'll be alright.
