that poor 26g Johndoe heheee have you got thicker? :D

Haha I know right? Tomorrow I'll have 50ft of 24ga in my mailbox. I had to stop buying Kanthal locally. Got 24, 26 and 28 coming. Probably won't need any other gauges as a 24ga parallels on the 4V mech is crazy town and regular 24ga coils in the 8V rig will probably drown me to death. The 28ga is for my Hobo.

I do like the idea of having some 23ga coils though. That makes me 1 cooler than people running 24ga, right?

ETA - Thanks for typing some other wick methods G and Slippy. Headed to check those out now. Regular wicks aren't keeping up w 190W.

So Yosh's wicking makes sense. I'll definitely be trying that. Does iTeo mean to use more cotton, wet it before rolling, then what? I use dual coils and the one vid with the kid in his dorm room was using a single coil and wicking up over the posts. iTeo's vid just blows some clouds and shows a pic of the 360 wick.

What does iTeo even mean?

Which do you use G-Weezy? I wanna do what you do. :)

iTeo is the guy that made that wicking style. He's a member on the forums as well. After you unroll the cotton cut about 2 inches. On the bottom half where you are about to start rolling I dab juice across the whole bottom. Start rolling it into a cylinder shape. Add more juice and keep rolling till it's the ID size of the coil. Insert wick in. Cut and tuck like usual. Add more juice and you'll see how much longer dripping sessions you'll get.

In this build I have iTeo wick. This is my normal build for all my attys.

Aha! YES. THAT. I assumed that kind of wick might lower the capillary capabilities of the wick for cloudchasing. Yes "capillary capabilities" might be the 2 biggest words I've ever used side-by-side. Feeling smart over here.

Yosh's method sucks up the juice fast. iTeo seems like it will hold more juice but it'll take longer to get resoaked at the coil when running high wattage (over 120).

Is that a remotely true statement? If so, would you want to give an iTeo wick a few seconds between drags? I don't mind refilling when I'm chasing but do like the wick to resoak fast so I can chain vape.

Thank you so much for posting that Weezy. VERY helpful.

PS - When you gonna start building some real sub-ohm builds? :p <- 100% sarcasm if it wasn't obvious. You get bigger clouds at 0.28 than I do at 0.14.

Lol. I usually don't like to build below .18. I find my sweet spot at around .20-.30. I actually just built a .12 and when I was taking my drag I got major dry hit. Choke the crap out of me. My wick was dry. I took that build out quick.

Yosh wick is what I do normally before my buddy Drifter introduced me to iTeo style. When I wick that is the only way I wick for low builds. I juice it up, take about 10 pulls. Refill and back in the game. It's all about finding your right setup. I've only tried 100W a couple of times. Max I've gone is about 80 and it's plenty. But I stay around 50-65 depends on what wire I'm using.

i slightly changed the way i coilled the 28.5mm poseidon II, and the wicking is much better aswell, its a really nice vape, here it is again with rayon..

Below is a mutationX sleeve with an aluminium style chuff with extra fin's like the doge or holy grail, i had to file it to fit but alu is easy.
Works a treat with builds that spit a little as the top of the DT is further away from the coils.

below is the mutationX i use with the red chuff style.
0.16Ω 1/8th id, i thought it was 24g but when i punch the numbers and ohms into the calculator it tells me 22g so not sure now LoL

almost dry wick

and a wet one

one of my favourite builds using the Yosh vapergate method similar to iteo method..
Vapergate Wicking Technique & Cotton Preparation - YouTube
here is building on one of my fav attys, the mephisto, although for me the 0.1Ω build was a tad hot for me Haaaaa!
Vapergate: Center Post Tutorial - YouTube

definatly get bigger clouds and have to re juice less often :)

I like the screws you're running on the MX Slippy. I will be replacing mine soon. I just did a drunk-order at FT the other night for several delrin chuffs and kinda wished I had added some aluminum ones to the order. How does it do vs delrin as far as cooling the vape?

That poseidon build looks insane!

Just rebuilt my MXv1 with parallel 24ga coils. Over-did it on surface area vs wattage (the new thing I learned for the day). Did 6/5 wraps around 9/64". They are huge! Something like 14" total of 24ga Kanthal. Its 0.17 ohm but takes awhile to heat up and makes the atty hot pretty darn fast. Not super great clouds and a pretty weird vape coming from a lower ohm and much smaller (5/4 wrap @ 0.9") 26ga parallel build. I might have to try these regular dual coils you guys are posting. Have always done parallel for the extra surface area and lower ohms. I done went too far, as usual.

Used the iTeo wick method on this guy. Used about 3ml of juice just getting the wick small enough to fit into these gargantuan coils. It does hold the juice though! Will rebuild tomorrow eve with a non-parallel coil and the Yosh method.

Starting to look at the other numbers on the steam engine coil calculator. "Heat flux per watt" seems to be a very important number all of a sudden. My last build in this atty was 25,500 mW/sq in. This build is 10,400. I liked the 25k much better. A non-parallel 24ga, 4/3 wraps at 0.14" comes out to 0.2 ohm and a whopping 35,610 mW/sq in!
I can't wait to see what that means. :)

I can already tell, now that my first lightning vapes order came in, that I'll soon be owning every size of Kanthal between 22 and 28. 23 and 25 will be on the next order for sure. The number 25 has always been attractive to me mathematically, maybe it'll also be the sweet spot for coils as well. Only one way to find out!

I would like to re-thank, again, G-Weezy and SlippyEel for being damn awesome.

I've only tried parallel 24 once. Too hot for me. Dual 22 and 24, parallel, twisted =28 for me.

But I just tried parallel twisted 28ga. OMG!!! That thing sucked my juice like water in the desert sand. Only if I could record this heat up on video. It is crazy from the middle out.

Were you able to get the chuffs to seal onto the MX's? I have the same cap and I got it sanded down to fit but I can't find an O-ring that makes it hold tight. It'll stays put most of the time (and works great) but every now and then it likes to fall off. Seems to be after a change in temperature like going outside.

Oh and that family pic is DROOL WORTHY.

I'm feeling ready to jump into this thread even though my pics aren't up to par yet. Getting some stupid clouds out of this mod with a MutationXv2 built at 0.44 ohm on top of it. Dual 26ga coils spaced wrapped around 0.107" 6/5 wraps and it heats up almost instantly. With 2 fully charged batts that's around 160W at only 19A. With regular 26ga coils. :D

Terrible cloud pic but the complete and total opaqueness is real. :vapor:

Nice cloud pic JohnDoe! That density is crazy! Don't blow those things while driving or you'll hurt somebody :p.

(Oh by the way man, if your ever wanting to post bigger pics, you can just upload them to imgur.com, and then copy/paste the "BBC Code (Message Board and Forums)" code on the right of the picture (it'll look like "http://i.imgur.com/BPqe0XN.jpg[IMG]" when you past it on ECF, but when you post it, it'll show the actual pic alot bigger), wherever you want it in the ECF thread. That way you don't have to worry about all the ECF storage limit bollocks, and post as big a pic as you want. (Sorry if you already knew, I just remember wishing someone had told me how to do that when I joined :D.))

That's a nice mechanical box too, I've been looking for me a good one recently, where'd you get yours?

Just got my 18ga Nichrome 80 in guys, and it's pretty dope so far. Unless you've got some dual battery power, it's not (from what I've experienced) as good a performer in the wider diameter coils, but on a 10 wrap, 1/16th", dual micro-coil setup it's instant, dense clouds.

What the major benefit of it is, is when you fire the button, it IMMEDIATELY starts making fine vapor (no "spitting", all fluffy vapor even before airflow gets to it!) from the middle outwards, and the longer you hold the button, the more intense the "fine" vapor production gets as the outer wraps get up to heat as well. I've set up my build so that the wicking is through, and beneath the coil, but right in the middle (where the heat immediately starts), I've depressed the wick just a bit, maybe enough to fit a toothpick between the center of the coil, and the wicking. This creates a tiny "pool" of ejuice right below the hottest part of the coils, and since I've done that, I've been getting really consistant, and really dry-hit resistant vapes! :D

It may just be the asmodus's deep 4ml drip well, but I've been able to take the longest pulls ever on any build I've made, which I think is the key to most competitions. If you can make a build that starts making the vapor immediately (heats up super fast), AND set it up so that you can harp on that build for a long deep breath, that's all that's needed to make a cloud the size of your body :p.

The best part is, this is an amazing build to vape on all day too, not just a pointless cloud rig. It's got great micro-coil flavor, probably because of the ridiculous surface area of the 18ga nichrome, the thin ID/OD coil NEVER "spits" hot drops of eliquid (great if you have massive airflow, otherwise you end up drinking the "spit", which is what I got with the doge dripper alot unfortunately :/, these 1/16th" 18ga coils would be perfect for the doge btw), it heats up INSTANTANEOUSLY (1 second pulls are huge with this one), and the best part is you get gobs of dense and fluffy vapor, and you can just keep pulling longer and longer without a dry hit. Bliss...

Dual 1/16th" micro-coils, 10 wraps of 18ga Nichrome 80 each, wicked with KGD magic, and ohms at 0.08. (airflow is 10 x 5/64th" holes, 5 per side horizontal)

I can't hold the camera back far enough lol, I guess that's sign a decent build hehe. :vapor:

Ok, I just hotboxed my entire bathroom with one pull. This is NOT a 6mg build, not gonna lie I felt lightheaded pretty bad XD. (I need someone to hold the camera for me, or you know...more friends.)

Thanks Treehead! I can't even front, feeling good about getting a cloud compliment from a State champ. Don't worry, I don't vape the box in the car. If nothing else, I wouldn't wanna clean my windows afterwards.

I got that box from this awesome local shop I know of (my desk). This one was just a quick and dirty experiment in 8V to see if I wanted to perfect it. And I do. The next one will be at least 25A capable (for real, all day). This one is capable of WAY more than that, except for the switch. Don't listen to ANYONE that tells you their momentary switch is more than 20A, and it's probably less than 10, this one included (don't get me started haha). The next one will have a mechanical switch. Oh, and it'll be in a 1590G instead of a B. I'll have parts leftover once I build that one... ;)

I was being lazy that night and just used the ECF uploading to post those pics. Thanks a lot for the tips though (I don't think I've ever seen someone use more parentheses than me (and actually get them right (had to check 3 times to make sure))). I've since started using the Photobucket app on my phone and posting from there. Saves me from having to email the pic to myself, download it to the laptop, then upload here, all for a small pic that's sideways half the time.

I'll repost those larger just for the heck of it.

Just a reminder, this cloud was on a 0.44 ohm build at 19A. 30+% headroom on the continuous rating of the batteries.

I want some 'alone time' with that.

The fine vapor and no spitting is what made me fall in love with my 8V mod. I wonder what the correlation is between my series dual 18650 26ga setup and your reF'Ndonkulous single 26650 18ga rig is. Heat flux? I'll be checking that tomorrow when I'm more soberer.

Slippy... You seriously have to stop with the FT links and easy ways to spend money. You're last little escapade netted me SIX dip tips. I only have TWO RDA's that will take a wide bore tip dude! The worst part is, I wish I had ordered at least 3 more of different kinds. Good thing I'm putting together a Xmas flashlight order atm.

So true.

I finally decided which flashlights to get (another addiction of mine) and threw some more vape gear on the order while I was there. Just a few bucks worth though. I was good. Save the 4 flashlights that will ship today or tomorrow.
