In just about every issue I have read that a battery has over heated or "caught fire" the said battery was being charged with a USB through a laptop or computer. Most of these reports were about ego batteries and this is the first I saw about a mod, but I would say the laptop USB was to blame and not the mod.

After a very long wait, it seems like soon enough I'll be joining the Cloupor mini club. Starting with this combo:
And I also ordered the black one from another vendor (I expect it to ship by the end of this week).
I'm not worried in the least about the ”melting problem”; to me, it looks like a set of commando claims in the ample ”mini wars”. That, and a tremendous number of people who absolutely hate Cloupor with a passion - from obscure reasons or even for no other reason than word of mouth. Hence reviews like this and the few pictures on the web.
Even if it really is a faulty circuit board, there's a replacement policy in place either by the vendor (6 months for FT) or by the manufacturer itself. The unit per se simply doesn't have enough combustible material in it to cause any real damage.
@ Edit: I have seen many seemingly valid claims, including those right here on ECF, and I'm still willing to give CM a shot. Actually two, as I ordered two units. Usually I'm the unluckiest buyer on Earth (I seem to somehow attract bad hardware), so if there's a problem with the Mini I will definitely run into it.

It doesn't matter WHERE the power is coming from, the CHARGER is the issue. Some are CRAP!

Had mine for nearly 2 weeks now. Using samsung 25r's in nitecore d2 external charger. All fine so far. Haven't tried usb charging and probably won't bother.

Look at the bright side of all the negative press. It's definitely going to turn some people away. Vendors with large stock are either going to return or have a mass fire sale. If they drop the price to get rid of because nobody is buying that gives each of us the opportunity to pick up extras probably at a ridiculous price. I paid 50 for my first. I think I deserve one for 20 to 25 lol.

You happen to know if there's a silicon sleeve option for CM akin to what Sigelei provides with its upcoming (/current for some) mini?
No clue. I wish they would though because I also prefer the silicon sleeves.

Got mine today and wife jacked it and gave me my xpro m50 back. Feels so freakin solid. I would get another one but I'm good with my dna30, t8, m50, and mini. I love all of them.

It almost broke my heart to give away some of my old stuff (setting up a n00b like I once was) even though I ceased using it a long, long time ago. Luckily, I no longer have a wife to snatch my Cloupors when they arrive. Meanwhile, I'm jumping around in anticipation. The Minis from Cloupor but also from Kanger (Subtank Mini). - Status
