Coil Master ?

You might know this already, but the wire gizmo has a 1.65mm rod.

Are you sure? On the link it has 1.5 listed but I haven't seen it reference a 1.65.

Different sets come with different sized rods.. no idea if there from a different maker or older model or what but that's what I've noticed.

I just pulled out the mandrels and the second to smallest looks like the same as the 1.5 on the coil master. I could be wrong, but looks identical. It would be cool if I had one that was 1.65 but the set I have looks to be 1.5 on the gizmo as stated on their site.

Hmmm... my callipers measured the gizmo rod at 1.65. Maybe a Canadian thing (although I highly doubt it), maybe a QC thing (we're talking .15mm here).

I have a picture of a coiler in my mind but with no tools or patience I wish someone would come up with a setup I think would be great.
Imagine if you will..a standard desk top Scotch tape dispenser design, take out the scotch tape roll and replace with spool of wire, now, where the serrated edge is that cuts the tape, replace with a setup that you thread the wire thru from the spool and wind around different sized rods that can be slid thru from the side similar to the Artistic wire coiler only a lot shorter then simply wind.
Would be compact and able to apply tension. Best of both worlds, winding action of coiler and tension action of coil master!
Not sure if you can picture what I dream up in my sometimes crazy head!

Any handymen out there looking to fiddle with a project?

Also, picturing the different sized rods with a hole in them similar to a football inflating needle so you can just thread the wire in and wind !!

Now that I think about it I may have to take a caliper and measure size of football needle. Pretty sure it's bigger than what I use but for some that use larger sized diameter coils it might be a cool experiment to snap off the needle where it screws into the air pump and then put the shaft in a pin vise, thread the wire thru the hole and wind? Hmmmm. I may be on to something??

I also had some playing around with both the GiZmo and the coil master, started with the Gizmo as
Recommended by super-x , although it does produce a tight perfect coil the setting up and just limited rod sizes made me get the coil master, took me a few coils to get the hang of it but quickly master it....

I just made rods from round bar stock in sizes I wanted like the gizmo. Im to cheap to buy an actual gizmo or a coilmaster. I have 3/32, 1/8, 1/16. Those are the main ones I use. was really simple heated the rod with a torch, bent it with pliers and voila, homemade gizmo. I think the rods were like 2 bucks each for a 3 foot rod.

The best kind - my gift coilmaster from Russ! Plus this VapeNutt stand arrived. It's SOLID, and the bottom grips my glass desktop like a suction cup. Looks like I gotta rebuild something, huh?
