Sometimes I get all kinds of weird readings on mine...it's because the tank I'm testing isn't making good contact with the tester. If you have any kind of adapter, try using it between the tank and the tester, or if your tank has an adjustable pin, extend it a little bit. For some tanks, I have to use my air flow adapter to get a good reading.

I have a little black box tester like that and some of my RM2's will not make a solid connection unless the bottom centre pin is unscrewed a little. When i am in a good mood - i'll unscrew it a 1/2 turn to get a measurement and then return it to how it was.

It does not stop any of them working on my Reo. If i am not in a good mood and don't feel like farting about, then i just get my multimeter and measure the atty either at the base from that centre pin to the threads on the bottom - or between the two posts the coil fits in.

Specifically i am trying to make certain i do not have a short in my build (bad for springs and batteries!), so i measure it all again with the topcap on - in case a coil is touching it. Paranoia works for me.

Where did you guys get yours? I bought one at my local vape shop and so far on the same coil that's on my provari that reads 1.4 each time, the reader has told me 1.77, 1.1, 2.8. So, I'm guessing this one is a pos.

The coil readers are dead simple devices and there is probably nothing wrong with it. Bouncing readings usually indicates something wrong elsewhere...conection...screws not tight...loose center post...etc.
