I know this post will get lost in the sea of this forum but....

MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE SEALING mods AND PROVIDING A CHARGING CIRCUIT WITH USB INTERFACE.

I personally love the convenience of swapping batteries, but when you look at the average person who can put any battery in any mod, this has to change before some dies. And they will. And ecigs will be banned. Sealed internal batteries with a USB port is the only way to go to prevent all of this.

This thread will be lost and ignored. Quite a shame :(
This can not be an acceptable answer, because it is just another extension of the Nanny State.
Not only that, but it means you have to buy a whole new device when the battery is shot.

I have three Chucks, all of which are potential pipe bombs, and I love them.
What you suggest would pry them out of my hands before I am even cold and dead.

Must disagree...

I wish some people form this site would end up on the jury, but they will get people that do not know any better. This guy will end up getting millions probably which is sad because as most of you have stated "you can't fix stupid". I do truly feel sorry for the guy having to endure this but when I purchased my 3VO, Provari, or anything else for that matter I bought batteries from the site that sold the PV. Cases like this remind me of the lady that got 2 million for burning herself with hot coffee, now every cup from vendors all over state "Contents May Be Hot" etc. My next PV should read "Hey Stupid Use The CORRECT Batteries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Just my :2c:

Interesting you feel sorry for this person and call him stupid in the same paragraph!!!! Comments like these should be kept to yourself.....

BTW, it was a woman from San Diego that was awarded $1 million from McDonalds for the coffee incident.....

He is suing Radio Shack, sort of. Enercell is a trademark of the ironically-named company, Ignition LP, which is a domestic limited partner of Radio Shack. RS has members sitting on Ignition's board of directors.

Ignition L.P. Company Profile - Located in Fort Worth, TX - Radioshack Corporation

Yeah, I didn't notice until after I posted that the little square at the end of the article was a link to the actual lawsuit. I think the lawyer is doing the shotgun-lawsuit (sue everyone involved, hope someone settles out of court) approach.

I hope that the guy is ok but think that anyone who buys an ecig and doesn't look at the site to see what batteries to use is a fool or a con. Hate to be mean but over 18 usually means that you have the common sense to make good choices.

Good point.
He could be a con just trying to win the lotto.
I think a con would not have it explode in face though.

And it seems there are some of you that need to realize something...
There are tons of people (who are not the least bit stupid) that have no idea that batteries can blow up.

Why would any normal person even suspect a battery can blow up?
Some of you seem to think every person has an inborn knowledge of physics, chemistry, and/or electrical engineering.

Now, here's natural selection at work! Some damn idiot trying to save himself a couple bucks on BATTERIES - THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!!! by going to Radioshack and getting something that he probably thought "looked the same" as the ones on the site. The .......n page for the product he bought says right on it what batteries to use and it's certainly not (#&$(*& ENERCELL from RADIOSHACK?!?! Come on now! Why didn't he just buy the full kit, you say? He probably couldn't afford the mod to begin with and so he thought he was pulling a fast one on everyone who buys the kit that they recommend you buy with the Prodigy - joke's on him now. Dumbass.

Even if my scenario isn't true, it still clearly states on the website what batteries are to be used and they're available for purchase with the damn mod so he is responsible for being a total dough-head and knowing absolutely nothing about batteries - not even enough to know that if you put the wrong batteries in something that makes it's circuit RIGHT IN YOUR MOUTH, that it could possibly - no, DEFINITELY - be dangerous. I have no sympathy, empathy, or anything. God is thinning the herd, IMO.

And not only am I ...... off about this idiot making all of us look like idiots, but I'm ...... off at the news page that the article is on, and their stupidity. They didn't even open the page they mentioned so many times in the article long enough to see that the #($&#@($*)!@ Enercell from Radioshack is NOT RECOMMENDED or mentioned ANYWHERE on the website. Nor did they see what battery is recommended and right there available for purchase?!?! So they're idiots too. Wow, the world sucks.

You might want to look at the vendors site again.... It shows under battery type that it uses an AW17670..... It should also state that they recommend the use of protected or safe chemistry batteries only..... For this fact they will probably lose..... Any vendor with the reputation that Puresmoker has should have that disclaimer worded very boldly in the description for any APV......... In my opinion, (and this is mine only), you are the dumbass for throwing your words around so carelessly.....

I keep my flashlight out of my mouth.

Nearly pointless comment. Flashlights are commonly carried on one's person, often in a front pocket, close to the family jewels. I would be very surprised if flashlight battery malfunctions have not caused serious injury to people on many occasions, yet the industry thrives. Snark fail.

Edited to distance myself from my own words, if such a thing is possible. I hereby apologize to kwalka for straying from one of my main goals in interpersonal relations, which is to refrain from judgment, including not just the most glaring of insults, but also to refrain from using any negative adjectives to describe the person, or anything said or done by the person, that I allowed myself to feel offended by. I also apologize to the participants in this excellent thread.

Re-reading this post, it would have been SO much better without the italicized text.

I come across totally pointless comments around here all day long. But thanks for the proper carrying procedure instruction. Apparently yours fits in your pocket.

And one that exploded:

Didn't hear much about it in the news though.

"So take something else out of your pocket besides your flashlight, before you start swinging".

Easy there.

Another flashlight explosion, of many:

DC2 ... "BIG" LIKE
I'm no newbie and I found out about exploding batteries when I was in one of those
stores that only sell batteries...I needed a new cell phone battery and the manager
noticed my e-cig and educated me about exploding batteries.

I love my pipe bombs too!!!!!
It's the uninformed and moronic that will make dumb mistakes that open the door for GovCo and BigPharma to swoop in and make billions.

Me too; I'm rocking a 5-volt Woo as we speak, and I'm going to be an early adopter of the Smoktech VMax as soon as a US retailer gets one in. The Woo came with unprotected batteries, which will be replaced by AW's tomorrow when I get my order in from Lighthound.com. Speaking of them, there's a lot of useful cross-over between the Candlepower Forum, where I learned of that supplier, and this one. They're been dealing with batteries, stacked and otherwise, a lot longer than most of us have.
