No, this one appears legit (unlike thundercat's red-flag laden claim). I'd like to think that Provape was a victim of product fraud, i.e., factory lithium rejects rejacketed as AW IMRs.
Even brand name ones have the occasional defect.

Wait...why would I like to think that? I could be sitting on time bombs of my own.
I will offer ECF a $5,000 bet that they cannot blow up a Buzz Pro or Ipro ( explode with out gassing IF it happens ) with out using water or crushing it, if they can I will pay them $5k !
If they cannot then have to post the results and offer a retraction of the blanket statement about 2 cell mods and DEFINE IT ! as the FACTS dictate not what they THINK. AND pay me $5k
Might get canned for this but hey WTF I stand behind my design 100% and will put my $ where my mouth is.

Red flag laden claim?? something you need to understand. You and several others want pictures and the exact batteries used(the e-bay listing number). The reason my attorney told me to keep my mouth shut was because I could be sued if I caused the battery company sales by makig false claims about their batteries. The batteries were not defective they were used in a manner that was not recommended. None the less I contacted the seller and he replaced my batteries. I'm sure buzzkill will confirm, I have not contacted him about replacing my buzz pro as I should not have used those batteries even though he said batteries would not explode in one of his mods due to all the protection that is built in. Unlike the guy from Colorado if I screw up I don't sue someone else for my mistakes.
I would be interested in collecting the $5,000 bet that buzzkill offered saying nobody from ECF cold explode batteries in a buzz pro though.![]()
ok so then whats wrong with showing us the pic of the buzz pro that "exploded"?
After doing alot of reading i had the misunderstanding that with the "built in" protection of the buzz pro it would be "impossible" for the batteries to explode. I bought batteries off of e-bay that were unprotected, because they were alot cheaper. WRONG ANSWER!!! I charged up the batteries and got about 3 hits before the tube started getting EXTREMELY hot. I dropped the buzz immediately. When it landed in the grass I could hear a slight hissing sound. Thats when the batteries totally failed. It sounded like a M-80 going off. Both end caps blew off and the tube split from the bottom edge up to one of the vent holes. As I said I am VERY lucky I noticed the warmth of the tube and got it out of my hand quickly. I am really glad it wasn't in my pocket when it happened.
Str8, the OP in the provari thread said it was in a cupholder, nothing about it being in the sun.
Latent defect, battery dropped in transit, charger,... Multiple possibilities.

Of course it was red flag laden. You come in here, in the middle of a thread about an APV blowing, and you drop a 1 paragraph statement about your APV blowing, from 1 of the safest vendors out there. Then when we ask for some proof and info for the greater good of all, you sit there and watch and dont say a thing for hours! Then after hours of speculation you come in and confirm the fact that you have lawyered up. Once again w a 1 line statement. What are we supposed to think?
Of course the seller replaced your batteries anybody that knows anything about Ebay knows why that is. Dont sit there on your high horse and act like you didnt start this war of words. Dont get me wrong, I stand by my original statement of I'm glad your ok. But I cant even imagine being in Buzzkill's shoes that night. The least you could of done was PM him and then he could of shut us all up without anybody getting sued! You contacted the wrong seller buddy!
If Buzzkill gets thrown out of here because of your actions that forced his emotion about his livelyhood, that is going to be your fault.
Number 1 I did not sit in the thread for hours. When I leave ECF I very seldom ever log out. I just go to other sites. I sometimes show being in threads for days on end.
As for Buzz being through out for being in this thread. Again I believe in people taking responsibility for theirown actions. I did not force him to post in this thread. In fact he had posted in this thread BEFORE I ever made my post. It is my understanding that suppliersare not suppose to post in thisaarea anyways.
As for me sending buzz a PM. That is a two way street!! He could have just as easily PM'd me and I would have responded to him. He did just like Steve did from Puresmoker he took the high ground with denials. You yourself said I had nothing to sue for. Buzz was the one who assumed I meant I was going to sue him and the battery manufacturer. My lawyer as I said was trying to keep ME from being sued.
Before you all run Phil in the ground please give it some thought. In my opinion, what he did (with his knowledge of the product) wasnt idiotic. He unknowingly made a mistake that has thus far cost him his eyesight, his teeth, his job, and on and on.
Scarab, I am so sorry that Phil was injured. I can't imagine how difficult this has been for him, his family, and friends. You've been very kind to provide the community with information. Emotions run high when so much is at stake. As evidenced by this discussion, his accident has raised awareness among both consumers and suppliers, leading many of us to examine what can be done to improve both education and safety. Although I know that it doesn't change his situation, I hope it is some small comfort to you. I won't speculate if any supplier should bear some responsibility without having all the evidence, but I do wish you, Phil and his family the best.
kwalka, I knew you were replying to Thundercat and his post on the Buzz. My post was not directed to yours at all. I wanted to step outside the battery discussion for a moment to express my sympathy. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Well, I, for one never asked for pics of the batteries and still call BS on your claim of the APV exploding.... I stand by my original comment that it didn't happen.... There is not a company in the world that would sue you for their APV blowing up!!!! That is pure fascination on your part..... If it were me, I would provide the pics of the mod out of fear that I would be sued by the APV manufacturer for being slandered, hence is why I mentioned you might want to keep that lawyer retained.... Do you honestly think they aren't going to be hurt, (sales wise), over your unresponsible comment? If I were the vendor, I would've contacted my attorney first thing Monday morning....
