Confused about how to start

Hi everyone,
I want to quit my minimum smoking habit. I have a 2 year old son that i want to stay around for. I was able to quit while pregnant but stress had me starting back before the first 6 weeks was up. Anyway, I haven't bought anything yet. This is going to my Christmas present from my husband. I was thinking of starting with the Blu since I like the packaging, price and options. I have read a few post that say don't get it.

Can you all help me out?

I currently smoke 10-12 marlboro light 100s a day. I do want something small to start. I don't want to spend a lot and not like it, but I can up grade later. The reason I like the blu is it comes with that battery charger pack that looks like a cigarette pack. I don't need to be able to get different colored batteries but would like to be able to check out other flavors. I am not sure I want to get in to e-liquid with a small child around. He gets into everything no matter how well you put it away. Any help would be awesome!

You can start with Blu if you want. There are people here who actually like them, but there are probably just as many who will tell you to stay away from them. I would suggest starting with either a Joye 510 or a KR808D-1 since you aren't a heavy smoker. Both of those kits are cheaper than Blu and quite a few people will tell you that they're just better.

I also highly suggest watching these videos. Mistress Nomad is a highly respected member here, and her videos will give you a better idea of how to get started without spending a buttload of bucks!

Hi and welcome to ECF. There are a few people who are happy with their Blu, but most of the posts I've seen on them are owners asking about how to get them working properly or looking for something better. They have a short battery life and seem to be inconsistent in their vapor production. I haven't owned one though so I'm just going off what others have said here on the forum. Since you seem to be a relatively light smoker you might want to consider the models suggested in MistressNomad's videos which can be found here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html. Both the KR808 and 510 are good solid units and will likely give better results than a Blu. Vapor4Life-Because it's your life - E-Cigarettes/Smoking Alternatives sells the KR808 and has a selection of prefilled cartomizers to choose from. They're a bit more expensive than some places though. If you're interested in a 510 try here 510 Holiday Kit No Box. Although you might like the packaging of the Blu, once you open it that isn't an issue since most of it gets thrown away anyway. If you want the charging pack, called a PCC or personal charging case, it is available for either the 510 or KR808. They're around $15 to $20 or so purchased separately but can be bought in a kit if you like KR808D-1 PCC Charging Case. My advice is to watch the videos and read some of the posts on the Blu Electronic Cigarettes forum. Do your homework so you can make an educated purchase. Don't fall for the hype, advertising, or packaging of a product, research the products themselves. And the best place to do it is right here on ECF, it'll just take a bit of time but will likely save you from spending too much on an inferior product.

+1 here, in my humble opinion. I started out with the Blu and the carts were inferior. I vape with the 510 now.. some of the heavier vapers don't like the short-lived battery (no issues here honestly, can go for several hours), but seeing as how you aren't a heavy smoker (1/4 to 1/2 of what I used to smoke) it should do you just fine -- and you can generally find kits for $35-40.

With the 510 you can choose either the 2-piece or 3-piece method. I prefer cartos (2-piece). Either way, you're going to want a kit with at least 2 batteries, 2 atties, a pass-thru if you spend any good amount of time near a computer, (some cartos -- can usually find 5 for $8-10), and a couple bottles of juice (15-30ml in small bottles -- around 5ml or so -- in different flavors) or thereabouts to get yourself started.

Welcome !! Please ask questions as they arise!

aaand Mistress Nomad's videos are awesome, have a look!

I would second the recommendation for a Joye 510 kit. Very inexpensive - $25 to $30 price range. I smoked for over 55 years and quit the day I received my first Joye kit. No matter what you end up with, buy some spare attys and batteries. Also go to one of the suppliers here on ECF and buy a selection of sample size bottles of different flavor juices to try out. Good luck to you on your vaping journey.

I have no experience with Blu. I have been showing people I work with the Joye 510 kit. I believe it is about $40 with no box at Cignot with free shipping. Maybe get a few Cartomizers and some juice. It comes with some Marlboro prefilled cartridges also. I like it and use it along with a eGo. I smoked alot more than you and like to have extra.

Im not hyping a certain company,BUT!If you dont smoke a ton and want something easy I will reccomend Vapor4life.Its an easy setup, lots of flavors, the charging case is very nice, and they have lots of choices and options.Go look around in their subforum.Lots of nice helpful people.

i second this. since you have a young child and aren't a very heavy smoker that model would probably would probably suit your needs the best. plus you can buy prefilled cartridges so there's no juices and whatnot for the kiddo to get into.

this kit has everything you'd need, including a carrying case for $49.95-

Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Value Kit with USB Charger

i've never ordered from this company but i've heard good things.

The Blu is basically a relabeled Joye 510 with a "shorty" battery. I would suggest starting either with a real Joye 510, a KR808D-1, or a Joye eGo. The 510, and eGo are basically the same, but the eGo will give you three times as much longer battery life; it will most likely last you all day depending on how much you use it.

Thanks everyone. I tried a little disposable unit today from the gas station. That helped me make my decision. For starters I need more vapor than that thing had. I also need less throat hit. And last but not least more nic. The one from the store only a little nic in it. So from what I learned on the videos it looks like I will be getting a Joye 510. See fast learner. Heck, I may be mixing my own e-juice next week! HAHA (so not going to happen)

Never say never. ;)

But yeah, with a little one around, DIY juice would be risky...

Congrats on trying with the disposable and for choosing a 510.
I've never had one but if I were to go back and start over that is what I would start with.
More devices seem to be 510 compatible than any other so the options are just incredible.
