A clearomizer is the transparent version of a cartomizer, designed to allow users to see how vaping actually works and how much e-liquid they have left. In reality, things are a little more complicated. Many in the electronic cigarette business choose to define clearomizers simply as transparent cartomizers, even though they’re not always built the same way. The clearomizer is usually made of thin, very easily breakable plastic, in order to remain transparent. Also most clearomizers don’t have polyfill filling, as it would make it hard for vapers to estimate how much e-juice they have left. Instead they have a wick.

An Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit is usually composed of 2 batteries, 1 to 2 atomizers/cartomizers and a mouth piece or drip tip. Typically with Mods, starter kits are composed of 2 batteries, the device itself, 1 to 2 atomizers/cartomizers, a charger and a drip tip. The starter kit is meant to be an all-in-one buy to get you starter quickly with everything you need. Some starter kits differ depending on the vendor.

About exploding batteries:

#8. Those Batteries Are Ticking Time Bombs Waiting to Explode

We’ve all read the story about the Florida man who’s electronic cigarette exploded in his mouth, shattering some teeth and taking a chunk out of his tongue. What is little known is that the e-cig he was using was a homemade device involving stacked batteries. Stacking batteries is not recommended for electronic cigarette use. If you are considering creating your own mod, check out Battery University or E-Cigarette Forum to brush up on your safety skills.

Nick Green, GrimmGreenNick “GrimmGreen” Green, Vaper and Reviewer – GrimmGreen:

People need to remember that ALL batteries have the potential to be dangerous. Back in 2006 Dell laptop batteries were failing left and right. Some simple research, freely available on the internet can make all the difference. Don’t overcharge, don’t over dis-charge and don’t ask more from your batteries than they can handle. Pay that little bit extra and get some high quality batteries, cheap batteries just simply aren’t worth it.

Electronic Cigarette from Wiki:
An electronic cigarette (e-cig or e-cigarette), personal vaporizer (PV) or electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) (not to be confused with smokeless cigarettes) is a battery-powered device which simulates tobacco smoking. It was first patented in 1963 by Herbert A. Gilbert.[1] It generally uses a heating element known as an atomizer, that vaporizes a liquid solution. Some solutions contain a mixture of nicotine and flavorings, while others release a flavored vapor without nicotine. Many are designed to simulate smoking implements, such as cigarettes or cigars, in their use and/or appearance, while others are considerably different in appearance.[2][3][4]

The benefits and risks of electronic cigarette use are uncertain.[5][6] They carry a risk of nicotine addiction,[6] and their regulation is the subject of ongoing debate.

Variable power and voltage devices........from Wiki........
PV with variable and regulated power offering battery protection

Variable voltage or power personal vaporizers are devices that contain a built in electronic chip that allows the user to adjust the power that goes through the heating element. They usually incorporate a LED screen to display various information. Variable PV's eliminate the need of having to replace an atomizer with another one of lower or higher electrical resistance to change the intensity of the vapor.[38] They also feature voltage regulation and some battery protection.[39][40]

Some of these device offer additional features through their menu system such as: atomizer resistance checker, remaining battery voltage, puff counter, activation cut-off etc.

There have been lots of studies about ecigarettes vs analogs:

A 2011 prospective pilot study looked at 40 smokers who were unwilling to quit. They instead tried to get them to reduce consumption through the use of e-cigs. They found that more than half the participants reduced smoking by at least 50% at 34 weeks without significant side effects.

There have been lots of studies about ecigarettes vs analogs:

A 2012 study randomized 86 smokers to a nicotine e-cig, a placebo e-cig, or just holding the e-cig. They measured desire to smoke and withdrawal symptoms. Women had positive results with active use of either e-cig, but men did better with nicotine. There were no health outcomes.

The effects of nicotine itself are similar to that of caffeine. There is no evidence that nicotine causes any substantial risk for cancer, and the research shows that the risk for cardiovascular disease is minimal. The confusion about nicotine comes from anti-smoking activists talking about nicotine and smoking as if they were the same. While it is true that people smoke mostly because of nicotine; nicotine users die mostly because of the smoke.

The e-cigarette market is growing at an astounding rate. Wells Fargo analyst Bonnie Herzog pegs 2013 e-cigarette sales in the U.S. at $2 billion -- triple that of 2012. Moreover, Herzog believes that the e-cigarette market will surpass the $80 billion traditional cigarette market within 10 years.
