We have too many other things that we need to do first before considering new countertops. Like painting, new flooring for my room, Alex's room, the office and kitchen. We have the flooring for Morgan's room but *someone* hasn't done it yet. It's been sitting in the dining room for months now. Of course I can't say much since I have had Alex's paint for two months and haven't done it yet either.

Howdy folks.

Got to sleep in a bit this morning. All the way to 8:00. Of course it was kids screaming at each other that woke me up. After a quick shower we went to Walmart to fulfill our standard Sunday morning prophecy. I finally remembered to take a pair of short that my stepmom bought two pairs of for Christmas. She got them on sale for $5. They gave me full price of $13 for them. So I bought another pair of super comfy jammie pants. We got home, emptied the car, then realized we forgot a bunch of stuff. So we headed to BiLo where they double coupons. We saved more than we spent. Mrs E is pretty good at the whole coupon/sale thing. I give her carp for it for making me deal with it, but I am grateful she does it.

We got home, made lunch, and I made an oil candle out of an orange peel. It works really well, but it doesnt have that strong citrus smell I was hoping for. Still... It looks cool.

Then I put together a track for CJ. Its kinda like slot cars, but its not really.... its weird.

Now, Im eating fudge, vaping House, and watching football.

I'm glad it's working Bamrz.

We ended up going to Menards last night. 11% rebate on everything. I got light bulbs. (surprise, surprise) Mr. V put new ones in the kitchen this morning. Now I either have to clean the kitchen or take the light bulbs back out. My actual mission was to get a new sink for Friendship huts bathroom. Which I did. And completely forgot to get a faucet.
Dont feel bad. I have a sink and faucet that I need to put in. Ive had it for the better part of five years, but I dont want to do it until we can do something about our counter tops. And the money just isnt there for that.

I don't need, but would really like to have new countertops in the kitchen. We have white countertops. They are awful.
Yep. Thats exactly what we have. All white counters with all white cabinets with all white tile floor. I want to do the black and white checkered tile floor, with a black counter top (there's a textured laminate at Home Depot that I love that isnt too expensive), and then repaint the white cabinets and add some black in the doors and drawers for the trim. And Mrs E wants to do a black and white mosaic tile backsplash with a red tile thrown in at random, so she can use red rugs. It would look really great if we could ever come up with several thousand dollars to do it all.

I dont mind doing it in stages, but I refuse to do the sink without doing the counters.

 I bought a fiberglass deep sink, complete with faucet and drain attached, at a flea market for probably like $20. It sat out in front of my garage for several years, because it was going to replace the HUGE double deep sink that's down there now, so I could fit the washing machine. Before I could get the $ together for all that, the garage burned down and took the sink with it. :( One of these days, I'm going to get that stoopid washer in the stoopid basement...

I want to do something similar. I could use a washing machine to wash all of the really nasty clothes from either yard work or car work. A deep sink would be nice too.

Well, technically I do have a washer in the basement, it's an old wringer machine. My dad used it to wash his work clothes. He worked at the shipyard, and his clothes had little bits of metal my mom didn't want in the good washer.

Don't forget to use the paint stir stick.

Still no faucets over here. Mr. V is on the couch with a foot up. carp. I'll go to work in a bit, hopefully he'll feel a bit better and be able to go with me. If not, peace and quiet won't hurt me either.

Since I've gotten back into couponing it's really worth it. Since hubby is helping me this time I'm able to do it much more organized and doesn't take as long. We go to two or three stores to get the deals instead of just one.

I want a fake granite counter and vinyl tile floor.

My clothes have the little metal in it. The washer takes them out pretty good. After it only lasts for 3 years I think Mrs G will put an end to that. I think there's a guy at work that takes them to laundromat to have them do them.
FV, I liked the atty. I didn't wash it first (I get excited). I haven't used it in a bit though. I need more batteries. I have been on a carto kick lately. A guy from here let me borrow his reo to see if I liked bottom feeders before I blew the money on something I wasn't sure if I liked. So that has taken a spot in my rotation. I really like it a lot. I have been switching the cartos, and the atty depending on if I have time to drip it. I like being able to switch between House and what ever else though. When my tongue gets used to House I throw a few drops of whatever I feel like and go. I get sick of some flavors real fast so it is perfect. As an example, I still have probably 20 ml of Pie from Halloween. I like it, but only occasionally. On Christmas it was our after dinner dessert.

It's a 97 Grand Cherokee.

Andy came home late and got the heater started. He did the exact same things as I did, but for him it started. :glare:

Don't look a gift heater in the mouth! :D

To add to the joy of my winter season :glare:, for some reason every faucet in my house has decided to develop an irritating drip. I know the bathroom sink one needs some TLC (probably a new washer). But I'm bummed by the one in the shower and kitchen sink. :(

Quite possibly I'm overdue for installing a whole house water filter. :(

Washers are generally cheap and easy to fix. Hard part is getting the right replacement. You usually have to take out the old one and bring it to a hardware store, along with notes on the faucet (or whatever) manufacturer.

The posse needs to hit the lottery.:lol:

I'll vote for this....

You can always come to work with me, it's super quiet over there.

Can I get that same deal tomorrow? I know everyone else's job sounds like fun until you actually have to DO it for a while, but mixing in a quiet environment sounds like it would make for great "quiet time". I'm with Drott...I kill for peace and quiet.

5 hours later, school work is done for the time being. I changed around the analyses in one of my courses (I suspected some my international students were sharing information with students each term, so in a fit of annoyance I made them a LOT harder and started changing them around constantly). Now it's much harder for them, and for me to grade, too.

Even washing your work cloths separate I'd still be afraid a piece of metal aluminum would remain in the wash machine. Might then get in the kids clothes and stab them.

Hmmm... you're right. Only lately have I had to worry about it. Usually the chips are about as big as a silver dollar. Now I have been making tiny aluminum splinter chips. I hate those things so bad

Sonny drops his work clothes off at a laundry once a week. They come back clean and on hangers. And repaired if need be. He says it's worth it to not be fixing the stupid washer, or getting yelled at for washing his greasy stuff before her delicates.

Once a week I drop off dirty and pick up clean mixing clothes. They press my cotton shirts, quite the bonus.

I like the 306 on my bottom feeders Dan, I wasn't sure what you would think of them.

Many years ago I did sheet metal work (HVAC) and metal shavings were a constant companion. In your hands, and sometimes in your eyes. I got one in my eye from drilling expanding inserts into steel decking to hang duct. I ended up going to the doc to get it removed and they found a total of FIVE between both eyes. They said a couple of them had been in there long enough to get fairly rusted.
