It's their teeth that Freak me out.

We had one in a nest box, in the dim light I thought it was Norman the barn cat. I went to grab him, and got a good scare. The horrid thing charged right at me. When Mr. V got there I was smacking it with a metal garbage can lid. Yes, another gracious visual of me, sorry.

We had a last minute trip to a minor league baseball game. One of my players had a birthday a couple of days ago, and her mom invited us to go to the game, where they put her name up on the scoreboard, then dragged her on the field for the whole stadium to sing Happy Birthday to her. :D She ALMOST didnt go. In fact, she flat out refused. Until her mom sent me a text to come down to where they were ready to go out. She looked at me and said "NO! I wont do it!!" I said "fine, but your mom has already given me permission to throw you over my shoulder and carry you out there if I have to." Maaaaan, if looks could kill! Thankfully, they were directed at her mom, and not me! She walked out on her own, and was grinning from ear to ear when she came back. :lol:

After the game, there was a flag presentation by a couple of vets representing each branch of the armed forces. Then all of the fans sang each branch's "fight" song. CJ thought it was awesome when Mrs E said "Thats Daddy's song!" for the Navy one, and "Thats Pop pop's song!" for the Air Force. "Thats Uncle Cory's song!" for the Marines. And "That's Uncle Steve's song" for the Army. Yep... We are a VERY proud flag waving family.

That was all followed by an awesome fireworks display set to music. It was a good night.

I had a horrendous scare with Xena this afternoon! She was being bad, and pulled my cell phone off the table by the cord and I scolded her. I should have known to watch her, because a few minutes later she was squealing up a storm. She had the cord from the small fan I have blowing on the computer in her mouth, and couldn't let go! There was something sitting on top of it, so I couldn't yank it out of the wall fast enough, so I had to unclench her jaws to get it out. She is fine now, just a little burn on her lips, but I think I lost a few years off my life.:
As bad as it was, look at the bright side. Two of them, actually. One, it wasnt worse. And two, I bet she wont be doing it again.

We're on our way out the door, something about fireworks and the boat. I'll bring my tinfoil hat, it looks like it's going to rain....

And we are not going tonight. But we are on for Saturday. Fishing, a picnic on the lake, and they always shoot the fireworks over the lake. It looks amazing from the water. I'm excited!
I miss living with my dad on the river. They used to shoot fireworks from just the other side of the bridge, and we had a GREAT view from the boat dock. Mrs E and I spent our first 4th of July together on that dock. We werent a couple then, but it was still the first one. SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO!!!! And we havent missed one apart from each other since! She's made a trip to Great Lakes, IL, and another one to NYC to keep the streak going, but in 17 years, through all of the schools and underway periods, and deployments, we've never missed a single one! Sure we have anniversaries and other important days, but the 4th is the ONLY one we can say we've been there for all of them.

James never came back tonight. Maybe he was smoking his .....
Hehe. No, not yet. The next two days will involve all of my .... smokin'. Two butts tomorrow. Two more Friday. I wouldve rubbed my butts tonight to let the spices soak into the meat, but I misjudged the thaw time. Two are mostly frozen, two are partially frozen. Neither will accept a good rub, so I'll have to do it first thing in the morning.

Dont worry.... I'll lock up on my way out. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!

The Declaration of Independence: A Transcription

IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:
For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:
For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences
For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. Sounds like you had a fun night.

I've only been to one fireworks show and that was a looooooong time ago at Stone Mtn. in Atlanta.

We started the Holiday earlier in the week so we now have no more Amish potato salad, hamburgers, or corn on the cob. :ohmy: Half of the beer is missing and the Jamesons is running low. :blink: So far the Holiday has been GREAT! Since today IS the start of the Holiday it can only get better... :toast: Now, I gotta go and find that missing beer...

Stay safe! I don't drink and drive. I just drink on occasion.... :)

Happy 4th of July! Long time no see, I hope everyone is doing well. I know I've be absent for awhile. The depression and panic monsters invaded my head and I started the stinkies again. I felt I was being contradictive posting because I wasn't vaping. I have all vaping devices ready and set to start again today.

We were in Minnesota for 10 days (6/20-6/30), a trip we had planned back in April. We went back for my cousin's wedding in Northern MN and spent some time up at the lake cabin, then we headed to St. Paul and stayed with some friends. We put our house on the market as our renters gave their 60 day notice - and they won't pay the last months rent!!! If we do not see a portion of the rent by today (hand delivered to a friend) we will file "Unlawful Detainers" against them to the court in Minnesota.

Sad news, there was a work force reduction at hubby's company and he was part of it. So along with 50 other people, he was laid off about 4 weeks ago. He has applied for a lot of jobs already. If he gets one out of state or down in San Diego (lots of jobs down there), I will stay here with AJ until he graduates next June.

Em graduated on May 18. We are so proud of her. She just got offered a job as a Medical Scribe that she'll start training for next week. The pay is just above minimum wage, so we'll have to continue to help out, but not as much as before. Its a great job. 40 hours a week. They have 5 different shifts so she can see what its like to work with an ER doctor on different shifts. Her job is to arrive 30 minutes prior to the doctor she is assigned to, get the ER charts ready, prioritize them and then go in with the doctor and type in all of the doctors orders and diagnosis.

Thats about it! Dull life! I'll try not to stray from the boards again :)
