Exactly. That is the only line of everything I read on it that worries me. Ive got nothing against Harley's or the people that ride them, but I dont give two donkey turds about the inner workings of their dealership. Im there to learn how to ride. Period.

But, I'll deal with the that crap, and any bashing I'll receive about having a crotch rocket among the cruiser folks.

G'Mornin' FV! I hope your first day back after your first weekend isnt too terrible. If it is, just split up the customer complaints between JD, Rick, and myself. Im sure they wouldnt mind helping out a little bit.

Real riders don't bash other people's bikes. Ride what ya like. They all have two wheels and give ya the wind in your face.

And I don't mind helping out with "customer service" a bit!

Thanks! It's not bad news anyway. His fever is gone and he's much better this morning than on Saturday. The vet sent out the blood work today anyway because he's seeing some anomalies with some of the tests he ran today vs. on Saturday. We'll start getting results on Wednesday perhaps. Until then, at least he's acting about as happy as he ever acts.

Glad he's doing better!!! Hope all results are positive, Sallie.

It is...

insurance first. DMV for the permit/title/registration/taxes/plates. Then purchasing all the safety gear (glove, boots, jacket). Then the course. Then the DMV. Then leave the wife at home with the kids for hours on end. Get back home with a sore neck from having the helmet on my head. Then listen to the wife complain about how bad her day was while my ears are ringing from the exhaust note... :D

Paint until lunch then go to grandma. Duh. Best of both worlds!

You're being smarter than 99% of new riders, James! That's exactly the right order. MSF will teach you how to ride smart, too, and you'll have fun while you're doing it. :)

Im actually starting to think that it was a good move not getting one when I was 18. I wouldve been a greasy spot on the road...

Just got back from the new building walk through. The tenants are out, except for their picnic table, which they said they are not taking. Guess we'll drag it to the curb.

And back to work, it's nuts over here today.....

I need a nap.

I stayed up till 5:45am doing homework (my own fault for slacking a bit last week). Got 45 mins of sleep, then got the kids up for school, then got caught up in the daily routine. I feel like the walking dead.

I've been vaping like a fool today just to keep myself awake. I've also single-handedly downed a gallon and a half of sweet tea.

Mr. Doom wants a crotch rocket. The idea terrifies me. It's not his riding I'm worried about, it's the other people on the road. I've known too many experienced bikers who've been hurt by impatient or inattentive central FL drivers. I told him he can get one if we move out to the sticks somewhere.

I opted for going to my grandmas. I just got home. I just wasn't in the mood to be down on my knees this morning. Once I go down its hard to get back up and I'm tired. Maybe Wednesday. That's my next available day.

Alex wants me to cook hamburgers for supper so I'll do that in a bit. Hope everyone is ha king a good day.

Thats the link I used to find the course at the H-D store in Rock Hill.

Ok, so permit first, then safety course, then back to the DMV.

This is the one local to me: Learn To Ride | Cox's Harley-Davidson® of Rock Hill South Carolina

And as long as the website is up to date, once both the knowledge test and skills test are completed, I get a waiver form to take to the DMV so I dont have to take the test again. Now, I just need the time to get to the DMV for the permit and to get the bike titled and registered, the $325 for the course, then time for the 4 day course, then more time to get back to the DMV
James, did you read the page on the link you posted? You don't have to worry about registering or insuring your bike yet, they will provide one for you! :) AND it's a crotch rocket! Buell Blast.

Also, you might not have to make an additional trip to the DMV after you take the course. Here in PA, they validate your permit by stamping it that you've passed the MSF course with the date and sig of the instructor. I had to carry that around until my regular license was up for renewal. I was so stoked to get that "M" endorsement!

And you don't need all of the safety gear before the course. Just some stuff you might already have (except for a helmet). I took the course on one of their little 125 or 250's. I didn't buy my bike until after the course, and had it delivered. My first few outings were down the block, and up the road to the elementary school parking lot, just to get used to it. Then I picked out a nice straight road, early on a Sunday morning with little traffic, to start getting used to riding.

And it might not be your head that gets the worst of it from the course! Your eyeballs are going to be VERY tired! Mine were even worse when I first started on regular streets, from all the looking to see if anyone was pulling out on me and watching for potholes and all that.

ETA: James, depending on the size you take, I can mail you a DOT half helmet that's perfect for the course. It doesn't cover your ears, and isn't as hot as a full face. I'm not sure if it's a L or XL.

Let him get one. Just take out extra life insurance.:lol:
