Howdy folks... Since my friendly neighborhood stalker showed up on my gmail IM this afternoon, I figured I might need to check in.
And now, the novel....
Friday, we woke up to 6 degrees. In SC. S. I. X. degrees.... In the south. It was colder here than it was in Alaska. Then it was up to 60 degrees yesterday. And we're expecting at least a little bit of snow twice this week.
After freezing unmetionables, I spent the day at the VA hospital. I got another corticosteroid shot in my shoulder. The doc is still harping on me to get under the knife to fix it. Still cant afford to take six weeks off of work though. Then I hopped over to the rehab center and picked up the TENS unit that my primary care doc ordered for me.
When I got back home, we left CJ with Kat at the new house then went back to the old one with Melanie to clean more stuff out. After a half hour or so, Melanie decided that she wanted to trip of the step from the basement. Mrs E took her to the UC. That goofy .... kid ended up with two stitches in her chin.
Saturday morning, I took Kat to an indoor batting cage so she could get some hitting practice with her team. Between a birthday party, broken toe, and getting sick, she has missed three weeks of practice. She NEEDED to get some in. Once we got home, Mrs E and I just kinda chilled for a little while then went out to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. I still have no idea how any one woman would voluntarily stay around a guy like me for 15 years (and still counting). We left the house and went to go see a movie. Oh wait... The movie we wanted wasnt playing due to a technical issue. They didnt say if it was a problem with the posted schedule on the website, or if there was a problem with the theater. So we picked one that we had never heard of. After about a half hour, they stopped the movie and turned on the lights. Then six or so police came in from both sides for a "security check". After a quick look around, they left. After a little while more, the movie stopped and the lights came on again. There was apparently a problem with the emergency exits that caused the doors to lock when closed. So, they had to stop the movie until the door was fixed. They said that everyone would receive two free movie passes for the inconvenience and we could stay and wait, or go ahead and leave. Since we're fat people, we decided to leave so we could go eat dinner. I took her to the steak house that has, quite literally, the best steak I have ever put in my mouth. They dont season the beef at all and its always cooked to perfection. The flavor of the beef is so good, it doesnt need seasoning or sauces. Yes, its really that amazing. Even Mrs E didnt dump anything on it. Anywho, the waiter came, I ordered a large sirloin. They were out of the large cuts. So I asked if the could give me one and a half medium cuts to make a large cut. Nope. I was just out of luck. So, we get home, and I had some secret plans of lighting a few candles, and getting some soft music playing on the iHeart Radio and do a little slow dancing in the middle of the living room floor.... Nope. Well, Mrs E was one of several people from work who ended up getting a stomach bug. So, I just stayed up watching Star Trek while getting electrocuted in my lower back and shoulder while she was alternating between the bed and can.
Sunday, Mrs E stayed at home. And she NEVER calls out from work. I took the kids to Sunday school. Let the choir director that Kat was no longer going to sing with her. We got her schedule for the season, and there was just going to be too many conflicts. After beating Melanie and CJ to make them take a nap (not really. Waving the gun around gets the job done without having to resort to physical discipline), I attempted to watch the Daytona 500. And here is where I realized how much I was going to miss live sporting events. Yeah, I have rabbit ears, but its just not the same. I missed the first couple of laps, watched most of the race, then had to miss the last 50 laps because Kat had practice at an indoor infield facility. Again, with the fact she's missed so many, and her first tournament is this Saturday, she couldnt afford to miss it. Mrs E slaved over the stove all day and we came home to sloppy joes and tater tots.
And of course, Mondays are never fun, plus the fact that I had to catch up from missing Friday.
*whew* I think I need a beer.
