I've managed to stay in the black since I started vaping. I've come rather close to going red but have managed to avoid it. Spacing out purchases mostly.

But looking back I did spend a good amount on stuff I definitely don't need. But c'est la vie, having to rely on trial & error to find the correct setup.

Just remember, as time passes the money saved on cigarettes keeps counting up. That and vaping being so much healthier, its worth it.

The initial start up is a painful blow for sure! With all the choices we have now, clearo's, carto tanks, RBA's, dripping atty's etc,,,, It can take a while to find what works, and this costs.
It used to be you had stick batteries, 808, 510 and the crappy 3 piece, then mods came out, but most of us help off on them for a while. But now it's nothing to spend $200 on an APV, $50 ea on carto tanks and so on!
Once you get settled in and find what works for you, it will start dropping, then you will just be buying "expendables", that's when the saving will really start kicking in for you.
Remember also, cigs aren't getting any cheaper!

In 2 months I would have spent about 400 on cigarettes but I've already spent 800 on pv parts and juices! I'm spending so much Money on this stuff! has anyone else felt this way?
I have spent close to $ 1,200 in the last 3 weeks on eVics, Clearos, coil units, drip tips and DIY supplies that I will not need to spend another dime for the next 2 years.

I carefully budgeted everything for the long term, and will see my money back on cigs saved after 4.3 months. By that time (2 years from now), income tax reductions adjusted and included, I'll save close to $ 6,200, which is a near 80% financial loss to the Gov't.

E-ciging is not a hobby for me, but a health and financial transaction.

Something new will come out, or you will drop the eVic and break it, or you will want something cooler. The spending never stops its just healthier. :)

Dunno if an evic would have been my first or even my second choice for a worry free pv for the next two years but I wish you the best of luck.

As I said, not a hobby. I do not visit vendor threads.

The eVic is under a very good warranty. I have also taken proactive steps to prevent accidents.

My cel phone never fell further down than a tabletop and never broke, maybe happened 5 times in the last 10 years.

I also take specific precautions with my DIY supplies so they won't go bad.

I had originally figured $ 1,500, but some bulk deals came along which shaved that down considerably.

So, enough money left for 3 more eVics. The ones I bought are good, and I have no itch to try the latest rig or any juices, as my DIY is coming along rather well.

Greetz zapped, and thank you.

2 days after I first found out what an "Electronic Cigarette" even was, I bought the top dog (eVic) in the local B&M. I have no regrets on them. It may not be the very best rig there is, but it does everything I expected it to do. No fuzzing with batteries or juices, clearo refills every 3 days. The latest thing may be your hobby but not mine. I'm off cigs, that's what is important to me, my health, major financial savings.

Working it out roughly, have 7 batteries @ $20 $140
Clearos $70
Juices 9 @ $14 $126 8 @ $7 $56 cartos $32 $210
Got a couple of freebies as well
Say Postage and plugs $60
so altogether that is: $ 480
But have been vaping since June, 2012 and would have enough juice to last me about 12 mths so long as I don't feel pressured by the changes the FDA are working on, into buying a stock pile!! :)
I wasn't a heavy smoker just hooked and now am not tempted to revert to past behaviours at all so that is good. Really think it is a cheaper habit once one gets over the 'I must try that!' Behaviour induced by browsing these forums!!!! LOL
Just putting in my 2 pence worth. Cheers and Vape On!!
Hope my maths are correct! :-(

those who have been around awhile call the excess spending in the first 2-4 months the "newbie tax" because yes there is a equipment investment, and if your like me you bought damn near a gallon of juice. but im at a point now after 3 months i honestly do not need to spend a dime on juice for the next several months, unless i want to.

since ive spent a tad over 500$ so far ,i look at it like 500 bucks over 5 months, wayyy cheaper than smoking

I'd guess I'm about a grand into e-cig stuff, but lets not forget how expensive smoking was. My ticker(see signature) helps me feel better about spending the money.

The cost of education is pretty high but it pays off in the long run. Not to mention all the CT scans you won't have buy, just one makes a lifetime worth of vaping costs a profitable venture.

This forum is full of posts just like these. You should realize that it's only costing you money instead of saving you money because of YOU. You may want all this stuff but you don't need it to vape.

A lot of people like you do report a leveling off of spending after a bit.
