Celebrity is no longer fair-good. No smoking in the cabins, balconies, etc. Basically non-smoking everywhere inside. At least on Royal you can smoke on the balconies but not in your cabin.

Yeah, was going to point that one out too.

On a fun side note, it looks like a cruise may be in our near future too. Going to be a quickie over Christmas if all goes as planned.

Lotsa conversation about ecig in the Carnival forum on CC

E-Cig onboard - Cruise Critic Message Boards

Oh goodie, guess I know where I'll be going tonight LOL. Havent been to any of the cruise message boards in a while, will go read what they're talking about on Carnival (even though I'm a Royal Caribbean gal) and will try not to post on their thread but probably wont be able to contain myself. How ya doing Ron, it's been a week for you now .. congratulations!!!

Jackie

Congrats! My last cruise was when I was a smoker. I hated having to walk all the way to the deck just to smoke. Can't wait to just vape anywhere I want on the next one =P

We have yet to go on a cruise, but we're planning on doing so ASAP. We're really hoping for next summer. Thing is, I am disabled, and even in a wheelchair, going all the way to the deck or any specified smoking area would be extremely painful... and I was a heavy smoker for 27 years, so needless to say I'm one to take smoke (now vape) breaks very often. We've been wondering if cruise lines would make a fuss over me using a PV. I'm also wondering if hubby will decide to try out an e-cigar when we do go on a cruise; he got hopelessly hooked on cigars in Iraq last year! I hope he will try it one of these days, because I've always hated cigars with a passion, but now that I'm vaping I notice the cigar stench on him so much more than ever before... and I sure wouldn't mind kissing him more often again. LOL

Heya Jackie,
Yeah the Carnival thread has more yays for vaping than the nays. They are out numbered...lol

I went to the Carnival board and read the entire thread and was very sad to see a "few" people who are non-smokers, jumping into that thread and saying negative and down right INCORRECT things! It was all I could do to keep from flaming those "few" people. But I did write a L-O-N-G post there, telling them about the e-cigarette-forum and our thread here. Many of them had seen our Royal Caribbean thread which started nearly 3 months ago and had then purchased ecig equipment and have been vaping ever since! It was wonderful to know that all of the info we'd posted on the Royal Caribbean thread had been read and helped so many smokers become "vapers". Hoping they come over here and say "hi".

Wow, Jackie, you weren't kidding! This one (posted by "2SeaWithMe" on page 3) tickled me:

If I was in a smoking section, I wouldn't expect anyone smoking or vaping to move. I'm in THEIR space. However, vaping expels nicotine...why should I have to inhale nicotine if I don't want to, get my point? You're absolutely entitled to continue your habit, but I don't see why your habit gets the right to infringe on my airspace. So, for instance, I would have an issue with someone sitting next to me in the MDR vaping...outside, probably not so much if there was air moving.

That is when I got tempted to register there, just so I could reply to her and say, "I sure hope you don't infringe on my airspace with your perfume."

Then when she retorts the replies to her post, she has the audacity to say:

Wow, rude and ignorant. What winning combinations!

I'm just curious...where are the studies that prove it's just vapor? Anyone can say something, but you aren't speaking a fact into existence. For instance, I could say one of the above posters had class...or at a minimum, tact. But it wouldn't be true.

Uh... hypocrisy much?!

Your post was excellent. I know how tempting it is to flame back, but you kept your cool and remained reasonable. Good for you!

ha ha ha .. I'm NOT done, I've posted more over there since then. Vaping is the best thing to ever happen to smokers. Like myself I bet many of us tried every way there was to quit: gum, pills, patches, acupunture, hypnosis. None of it even came close to working for me or anyone else I know. And then along came vaping and I think it's the greatest thing ever, plus it's fun-fun-fun to do and no one has to suffer from smelling smoke, or breathing in bad chemicals. So, yes, I am still posting over on the Carnival board and will continue to do so as long as it helps any of them stop smoking and start vaping instead.

Heh, I'm tempted to post asking those folks with 'severe allergies' to nicotine if they also have food allergies.

Afterall, if their allergy is that severe, they must not be able to be around tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes...

Do they wear a mask into the grocery store so they don't pick up the nicotine scent in the produce section?

Orville99 are you the one who posted a farce on the cc forum?

I am a member and have read all the posts on the carnival board. It was what lead me here and then lead me to buy my first e-cig and supplies. Being a smoker and reading what they have to say about what they want just rubs me the wrong way. I have always been a courteous smoker. And in Aug took my first cruise. I booked a balcony so that I could smoke and not bother my husband or kids with the smoke in a small place. It was on that cruise where I was in a smoking lounge and had an elderly man yell at me for smoking,

I had no desire to quit or try an e-cig till I read all the posts. I just hope I don't gain back the 30 pounds I just work so hard to lose

Google "nicotine inhaler" -- and yes, Nicotrol and Nicorette both come up in the search results, as well as being the first two "related results" at the bottom of the Google search results page. :)

Perhaps a registered member of the cruise forum might want to pass this along for the naysayers? :p

In the post Orville99 made no reference to a nicotine inhaler.
A user was asking what a e-cig was and that was his answer. Then he says that 2 were FDA approved.
He also posted a YouTube video in which the inhaler the person is reviewing looks more like a Tampon applicator than a cigarette.

Orville99 may have been trying to help, but I took it as misinformation to cause confusion.

Your argument is at best specious. First, I specifically identified the two devices by brand name that are approved pharmaceutical devices - Nicotrol and Nicorette. Second, if you did the research, before you ranted (I believe on CC you started by calling my original post bulls$$t) you'd find that out. Admittedly, it looks more like an eGo with a whistletip than a real cigarette, but If that's your point, you're just slicing semantics.

However, I'll save you the stress of doing the research: here's the link to Pfeizer's instruction sheet that comes packed with the Nicotrol product sold in the US.

http://media.pfizer.com/files/products/uspi_nicotrol_inhaler.pdf

The only factual error in my post may be that the Nicotrol product appears to now be available over the counter, so you may not need a prescription anymore.
