Well wait a second, earlier bfrie claimed "anyone with a
dna chip" could make one of these mods for $100. I know that's not fair, he's out of his league in this discussion.
Aluminum as a body material is fine in this price class. Provaris aren't the only
device that sells. And it's not like stainless is a no-brainer either. Many people find aluminum preferable for a
device they will be pocketing all day, myself included.
PM me when you have a chance, I would like to look into your machining services.
No need for the PM, I've nothing to hide. I live around Wichita KS, what used to be the air Capitol of the world. It's not any more I'm sad to say!
I started out doing avionics parts, tight tolerance equipment, +-.0002" on some parts. I then went into mold building, plastic injection, blow and roto molding. Then I built custom automated machinery for a while. Then a whole lot more aircraft parts!
I've run 3,4 and 5 axis mills from 1-6 spindles. I've run 2-7 axis lathes, I can set up, edit and program all of them. Back in my youth I thrived on pressure! I worked for one shop that specialized in "quick and dirty offload work". We got the parts at 9am, wrote the program at the break table and sent them out the door at 4pm!
I am versed with Fanuc, Cincinati, Mazatrol, Fadal and Bridgeport controls.
As for manuals, I've run Van Norman ram heads, Bridgport, and clones, by the hundreds, Brown and Sharp horizontals, Clausing, Reed Prentice, lathes. Sorry, I'm leaving a lot out, I know, if you'd like PM me with your email and I'll send you my résumé.
