I don't even know if the newer bottom dual coil tanks qualify as CEs, but here's the deal. I've been using 2 ohm 2 hole dual coil cartomizers for several years. I'd been told one might like the taste better using a different tank system. I first tried a Vivi Nova top coil and it burnt the juice way too often for me to enjoy. I then bought a kangar 3 tank (top coil) and I just don't see how others can use them (but they do, and they like them, so I'm doing something wrong). I just can't make the adjustment. Now there's the bottom coil tanks and I'm dying to try one but funds are extremely limited. I've been told that some people still get dry hits, and I've noticed the ohms are usually 1.8. So I'm thinking they're more for something like an Ego Twist or lower voltage. I use a Volcano Lavatube and 5 volts is the sweet spot for me. I've been noticing DC cartos are being sold by fewer and fewer stores and feel like I should transition to the newer tanks. I know this is long ... question, but I actually do like catomizers with my Artemis tank and wonder why I'm having so much trouble using something different. Is my mod to big? Is my vaping style to screwy (I love long draws and prefer HV vaping)? What's the best bottom dual coil tank that holds 5ml and hits as good as a carto?

PS Why is the Artemis and DC carts getting harder to find? Are they going out of style?

First of all, as a fellow cartotank lover I can tell you that you aren't missing anything. I get the opportunity to try most of the newer clearomizers on the market, and none of them have been able to hold a candle with a cartotank. The Innokin iClear 30 line came close, but no cigar.

If you really think about it, how can you expect a couple of small silica string wicks in a clearo to keep up with the wicking ability of a big wad of polyfill completely surrounding a heating coil in a cartomizer?

You likely are having trouble finding dual coil carts either because you aren't looking for them in the right place, or because they have been falling in favor ever since they were originally introduced. Most carto users have switched to single coils. Have you tried them?

Ever wonder why Boge and Ikenvape never developed a dual coil model? Because they wouldn't sell.

Well this is what I really needed to hear! Why break something that isn't broken, right? I occasionally use a single coil but I do like the dual a little better, they seem to last longer and hit warmer. But I have a pile of single coils too. I just think hands down the cartos are better. CCV has the best deals, and madvapes always have them available. The Artemis is harder to find (I'm not sure of the rules about mentioning vendors names). Do you still use the Provari? And thanks for your involvement in CASAA!!

I will check your links bussdriver, thank you.

Yes, all three of them.

Only one at a time. ;) Actually, my son has taken over one of them. He's an occassional smoker, and I've been getting on him to vape instead of smoke. Out of 10 mods in my collection, a Provari is the only one he will use. Go figure.

Is this the Maxwell Edison who worked at the Winds in Yellow Springs a whole bunch of years ago?

I love Yellow Springs, Ohio. Liberal arts college town (Antioch), tie-dye shirts, bead necklaces, feather ear rings, jeans, sandals, art shops and galleries, Ha Ha pizza (best pizza I've had in my life), Glen Helen Nature Preserve, Clifton Gorge hiking trails, camping at John Bryan Campgrounds. Ahhhh, the memories. :)

I worked in Y.S. for four years. I wonder if this is the same Maxwell Edison I know. ;-) It's my girlfriend's favorite place to visit. She loves all the little jewelry stores and handmade bags and the pottery. I usually hit up Superfly Comics, but I never buy anything anymore. I just like to stroll around inside and see how much I've missed since I stopped collecting comics. Dark Star is another place I always hit up when I'm there. We went to get our palms read at Lady Ravenwood but it was by appointment only. I don't believe in stuff like that but me and my girlfriend thought it'd be fun on a whim.

A question for you carto - carto tank lovers...have you ever tried removing the polyfill and replacing it with properly torched, cleaned ecowool? I've always been one of the few that couldn't get past the taste of the polyfill, I've tried most every single / dual coil, standard vertical and bottom coil...etc, also usually managed to burn or flood it. Would a different filler work at all, even worth experimenting with? (and no, I wouldn't try "blue foam"...:))

Just trying to think outside the box....(not really, don't think a box big enough has been designed for me...

I think the carto system looks closer to what will evolve into the future; a cartotank system can be thought of as a bottom coil system using a standard atomizer head called 'carto'; the only thing the carto needs is a rebuildable option, and that seems to already exist with the sophia.

I think it would be a major PITA to remove the polyfill without destroying the coil and wire. Not to mention trying to replace the filler with ecowool.

I like your thinking outside of the box, though. Might be a good question to pose to Isaac, the owner of Ikenvape, who has his cartomizers made special for him by a manufacturer in China.

I wonder why you would want to remove the polyfill? Polyfill is just a big fat wick; and wick is just it skimpy polyfill. They both are essentially the same thing - absorbent material for your eliquid.

I was responding to Stosh's comment that he didn't like the "taste" of the polyfill, which some people can taste and find unpleasant. He asked if anyone had tried to remove the polyfill and replaced it with ecowool.

The polyfill has a flavor to it, at least to me, I'm one of the few, although I've never had problems with plastic flavors in tanks, or silica flavors, or metallic from SS mesh. I was just considering the ecowool as a replacement because of the flavor.

More and more bc clearos are resembling carto tanks in construction. The line between them is blurring. I wonder why that is? Perhapse, the carto tank wasn't broken to begin with?

While the nautilus tank looks like a good piece, and I came real close to buying one, I got to thinking - it's built to work just like a carto In a tank... What does it cost - roughly the same as a good carto tank... What do heads cost? More than cartos, currently...

Maybe when the price comes down, and when the heads come down to be equal to decent cartos - the I'll give one a shot.
