I'm afraid I was rather hard on your friends at the British Medical Association after seeing this:
BMA - E-cigarettes
They provide an online form, and I left this message:
If I get a response, I'll let you know.
BMA - E-cigarettes
They provide an online form, and I left this message:
If BMA cares whatsoever about human rights, how can you justify telling a smoker to not use an electronic cigarette to quit? A growing body of scientific evidence shows that these devices are helping smokers who struggled for years to quit. Face it: Those who have been unable to quit by doing it your way will continue to smoke. I would have.
Had I followed your advice three years ago, by now I would either be dead or lugging around an oxygen tank instead of regaining my lung health. So what you are encouraging, whether you realize it or not, is continued lung, CV, and cellular damage.
There have been no enforcement problems whatsoever in the USA states that specifically exclude use of e-cigarettes from smoking bans. Smokers often learn about the products by seeing them used indoors. This works as a powerful incentive to switch instead of to continue smoking. Your opposition to indoor use of e-cigarettes--and worse yet to their use at all--prevents smoking cessation. Shame on you!
If I get a response, I'll let you know.
