Maybe he knew, maybe he didn't. I can only say that I knew...FA's site has had that information posted clearly for many moons.

Honestly, I've been on their site dozens of times and I can't say I knew until someone posted it. The diacetyl information isn't in a readily accessible place, imho. You have to run a search to find it.

Before I say this, I want to be clear that I'm in no way against disclosure, or anything you said really, Redgirl. Suppliers should disclose, and people should make informed choices.

But at this point in time there is ZERO evidence that diacetyl in the amounts we vape is harmful. The lowest dose of diacetyl that has been found to be harmful is 100 times higher than the diacetyl content found in any e-juice, even straight-up butter e-juice.

There is also no evidence that diacetyl substitutes are any safer. Although, again, that may be a moot point since there is no evidence diacetyl is harmful in these concentrations in the first place.

I really think it's premature to be warning people about something that appears to be a non-issue. And until I see a study proving otherwise, there is no reason for me to wary of it.

Some good vendors are getting trashed over something that is probably harmless.

Honestly, at this time, there is little evidence to support e-cigs being healthy at all. We assume that, based on the ingredients, e-cigs are healthy, but there haven't been any long-term tests on the human body to confirm or disprove the safety of e-cigs. I think what we should all do, instead of worry, is look at what we used to smoke and say "hey, at least it's not a cigarette", because without e-cigs, we would either quit altogether (which is what a vaper should do if they are concerned about e-cig health and safety), or we would still be smoking analogs.

I'm sure vaping will never be 100% healthy, because we are breathing in flavorings and sweeteners. The lungs are not designed to breathe in smoke or vapor for an extended period of time. With that in mind, the best route for anyone to take when they are concerned about safety is to just stop doing whatever they are concerned about and then they don't have to worry.
