Yes.
It lived up to expectations.
I can't adequately express how grateful I am to all the people who've posted tips, advice and encouragement on this forum. My confidence in buying and using a PV was really bolstered by what I read here before getting one. Seeing all the long time smokers who said they were able to quit smoking virtually immediately helped me to believe it would be the same for me.

Quitting has a large psychological component. This forum is a great support group.

Hi, new here. I'm waiting for my first vaporizer to arrive in the mail, the EVO black starter kit from innovapor.

As I told my wife, I don't plan on quitting, I plan on smoking for life without the dying part, or the brown teeth, stinking clothes and burnt carpets. I said I consider it switching brands. She wants to try and quit cold turkey [again], but I am going to try and turn her on to vapor if she fails.

I enjoy having a smoke throughout the day, and I'm addicted to the whole process, but it's been a few years now that I feel guilty for doing it, and think about the ramifications every time I light up. I'd like to completely replace cigs with the vaporizer from the start, if possible. So, I suppose I do have the intentions of quitting cigarettes, but not the process of inhalation and the whole oral fixation bit. Perhaps in the future I will ween myself off that too, I've quit twice using bottles of water, but the cig urge was hard to shake that way.

This brings up a question I've had in my head... what do vapers tell folks when asked "are you a smoker"? What do you put on social networking or dating sites for smoker status? I can already see it now, something else that is going to take me a few minutes to explain every time I'm asked.

No smoke = not a smoker.

Think about it - if you weren't smoking but using the patch or gum, would you still call yourself a smoker? Just because there is nicotine used, it doesn't make you still a smoker.

I never had any intention of quitting.

I am sick of not being allowed to smoke anywhere.

I am just sick of being treated like Typhoid Mary with leprocy and the clap!

I am sick of being fined for smoking, which is essentually what a "sin" tax is. It is a way to get revenue and punishment for doing something bad.

I am hoping to get around those things by vaping. Judging by these forums, vaping is as enjoyable as smoking, if not moreso. The health benifits and not having to clean up ashes and tar will be a great plus, too.

I'll be switching to 0nic juice after a while. That way, it won't be an "addiction," just something I enjoy doing.

I bought my e-cig with the express purpose of quitting smoking analogues. I was ready to quit smoking because of smelling bad, the cost, and the health reasons(my wife is a Nurse so she did not want a smoking Husband). I had starting taking Zyban and was researching different NRT's looking for the right thing and I stumbled across e-cigs. The day I got my first e-cig was the day I stopped smoking analogues, I one day hope to stop vaping as well, however as they say "One Step at a time"

Yes and no.
I got my 510 because the price of cigarettes keeps going up and it seemed like a cheap way to cut down on them. I also wanted something that I could use while at my computer; my landlord won't let me smoke in my house.

I never for a second thought that I would actually be able to quit with an e-cig; the claims seemed too "out there" and just too good to be true. And nothing else I had tried had worked, not the patch, the gum, or Zyban, so why would this work?
Surprisingly enough, it did; with two exceptions, the very last cigarette I smoked was while walking to pick up the mail that had my PV.

(The two exceptions were just verifying for myself that analogs really do taste nasty; two puffs and I had to brush my teeth, shower, and change my clothes.)

Thanks, Kristin, that makes perfect sense. I guess I'm equating smoking to inhalation of any substance, smoke or vapor. I'm sure I'll soon realize how different it really is. I guess the real question people ask is if you are a cigarette smoker, in which case the real answer would be "no". My fingers are crossed that will quit immediately, I really am sick of these cigs.

Absolutely! I was so fed up at failing to quit over and over again for like 6 months after 16 years of a pack+ a day I went directly to the mall after an 'effing pack of smokes and overpaid to what I knew was an awful vendor... and dammit it worked after all this time 3 months and can't stand the smell of an analog. Tried to smoke one and couldn't get past the third drag!!!

Newbie here, been reading these forums for a bit, never posted but this post got my attention. Like many of you, I have smoked too many years and have tried many different methods to quit but never really giving it up. Cigarrettes are the Devil, easily taking control of one's body, mind and spirit. I have been involved with worst things, yet have never been able to overcome the addiction to cigarettes.
I enjoy tech toys. I had heard about e-cigs, but never really paid much attention to them until my brother in law bought one about a month ago. I was fascinated by it and had to have one. As I walked into a local cigarette store, the dude behind the counter was smoking one and immediately I asked him about it. He turned me on to a disposable e-cig called "Krave". Though I was slightly disappointed in the overall performance of the product, I was absolutely fascinated by the "coolness" factor. After using up the cig in about 2 days, I decided to make a purchase. The same store sold me a Bogetech 307 which I am still using pending a purchase of a more "serious" product. I have found I enjoy this much much more than smoking. It is definitely not as convenient as running to the store to buy a pack of Marlboro's but way more satisfying and am finding it easier on the budget as I go. I have some new juices coming and am very much looking forward to taking this to "the next level". It has been 3 weeks since I started vaping, 2 weeks since I bought a pack of smokes. The last cigarette I had was a week ago. I gagged so bad, I had to put it out after a couple of puffs and have not looked back. SO..... to finally get to the moral of this story, NO... I did not start vaping to quit smoking, however, I feel I have found a product capable of allowing me the opportunity to do so. I still get the urge when I'm around other smokers. But with my trusty little electronic companion, I am able to stave it off. With a little self control and a plan this is my break from an addiction.

I tried the patch...got sick in the stomach and horrible migraines.

I tried the gum....it mad my mouth sore, not good for fillings and I still wanted to smoke.

I tried the pills and gained SO much weight (side effect) I went back to smoking out of depression and to not be fat. Who feels good about quitting when they don't feel good in their cloths anymore or the pill that makes people want to commit suicide (FDA approved that one)

I tried cold turkey and failed miserably ...with a large body count of the people I hurt while withdrawing.

I never really wanted to quit...I enjoyed smoking. I just didn't want the bad smell on me and my breath, I didn't want the rude non smoker comments I received EVERYWHERE I went. I never had to think about the cancer....everyone else did enough of that for me. I live in NY and people don't complain about the horrible sewer smell they walk past but if they see me with a smoke suddenly they want "clean air" ...then move to another city NY doesn't have clean air.

Anyway, I do not consider myself a smoker.....I no longer smoke. There is no smoke involved in the process.

If I had to label myself it would be a ...or vaporer...or a fogger....something like that. I think we need a poll on this. ;)

I do not call them e-cigarettes either....I call mine a nic-stick. :)

We need to start calling these things something else....even before people know what they are the name alone gets them judged negatively.

Nic-stick, I like that one. :)

I totally agree about kicking the stigma that is going to ride on these for a while. After lurking around here for a while, I quickly realized there should be no mixing of terms, specifically why I've only referred to them as vaporizers so far. I hate cigs so much I will not even give them the satisfaction of saying "e-cig".

Yea, and no. I bought my first PV with the thought of quitting, but I knew I wouldn't. I did not believe this was going to work and had already accepted the fact I was a "lifer" to being a second class citizen (smoker)! The reason I hate smoking is the way I feel about myself personally. I see someone outside sucking down a smoke and think "scumbag". I know this sounds weird, I smoked 1-2 packs a day of Marlboro full flavored kings, but this is my stigmatism placed on me from general society. So, I tried out the PV because it was new to me and sounded cool. I did not expect it to work. The more vaping I did, and the less analog smoking I did, the better I felt. I love my nicotine, and most likely will for the remainder of my life. I vape, but do so discretely, for the same reason above. I now can talk to people more confidently because I do not smell like a cigarette and they are not judging me for it. On an occassion, I will vape in the mall, purposely making as much vapor as possible, just because my defiant attitude kicks in!

I am sorry, but I do not believe for a cold-hearted second that none of you guys picked up this electronic device not to quit. This was the whole gimmick. This was the enticement. This is what all around us propose and advertise.

My friend bought one to save money on analogs. In Chicago it's $8-$10 for a pack of smokes. So He thought he could save money and still have his habit but smoking less or none analogs. WELL... He actually went from one pack a day to two packs a day. He said it made him smoke more analogs. So he quit using e-cig. About a month or two later he gave them another try and was able to quit analogs altogether.

I really believe that smoking in-general it has nothing to do with the nic or any chemicals in analogs. For me (and I think for most people) it's more of an oral fixation. I personally went from a pack a day habit to, e-liquid with nic in it then, to e-liquid with no nic at all. Hopefully for me I can drop my e-cig and be totally free...

I smoked for more than 40 years, and smoked 3 or more packs a day. I've quit before, once for about a year, three times for 3-5 months and dozens of times for 3 weeks or less (and I won't even THINK about the times I didn't make it through day 1 of a 'quit').

I haven't LIKED smoking for a long time, but I was truly an addict. I often said "I'd quit today if it was easy!", and I knew it could never be easy.

I bought an ecig in hopes of saving money. Within 2 weeks I was barely smoking any analogs - I think I smoked less than a pack the entire second week, compared to what would have been 20+ packs. And I haven't smoked for the last 8 weeks or so.

I really liked vaping, especially being able to experiment with so many different flavors. And in the last two months, I've only had one strong craving for a cigarette, and it really only lasted a few minutes. I've had little niggles about smoking a 'real' cigarette and then I laugh at myself because I know how bad it tastes and how it burns the inside of my mouth and throat - why would I want to do that?

And I've even gone through mega-stress lately - the death and fuineral of my best friend - without even considering smoking a cigarette.

No, I didn't buy an ecig to give up smoking - that just wasn't possible for me. But a miracle has happened - I accidentally gave up smoking, and I'm very glad I did.

I bought my 510 with the idea of changing how I obtain nicotine. I wan'ted a way to not stink anymore and not have my house smell. I also wanted a way that I could use while sitting in my office and not have to go outside in the heat, wind, rain, or cold. I found all that in my 510.

BTW I smoked little cigars for the last 6 or 7 years and smoke overall for a total of 43 years. Since I got the 510, I've never looked back. This was so easy.

At the same time that I hate cigarettes, I love them so much. To me, the e-cig offers all the things I love about smoking without many (if not all) the things I hate about analogs.

We just had a new baby and I hate that all of the poisons that cling to my clothes and hair from smoking could make it into her system. I have never smoked in our house or even around the kids, but it's still bad to even be a smoker around kids.

Then there is the issue of my health and lungs. When I get sick, I get REALLY sick. The cough sticks around for a month or more and is really disgusting and often painful. Even when not sick I can't run around and play with my kids for more than a few minutes without getting winded and having to stop.

So yeah, do I want to stop smoking...no, not really, I don't.

Do I want to get rid of all the things I hate about smoking?
Yeah, I really really do.

I had a free trial of the SE e-cig and it was pretty good. I smoked 3 analogs all weekend and I vaped through 5 cartridges. I loved vaping, it was awesome. The only reason I smoked the cigs was because I was trying to make the cartridges last as long as possible. If I could have vaped more, I wouldn't have needed the cigs at all I think.

I returned the SE cig and ordered a 510 from innovapor this week. Can't wait till it gets here!!!! Such a better deal than the SE e-cig and from what I hear, it's a much better e-cig.

I was smoking lightly after having quit for a while, but no - I bought mine out of sheer curiousity after seeing a mall kiosk for overpriced ones and researching online, finding this site, and finding how cheap you could really get them for. I thought, why not try it, it looks interesting, a new gadget. Of course, I stopped smoking analogs as a really nice side effect. And I really prefer the eCigarettes now- a different set of rules, but good flavor, more options, and a lot less nastiness (butts, ash, stink, discoloration, etc).
