NOPE!

I found the e-cigarette (and this forum) while searching for cheaper menthol light cigarettes I could buy online.

I just irks me so much that "they" want us to quit ... yet keep adding more taxes to pay for stuff. No, "they" don't want you to quit smoking tobacco - where would "they" get the money? Big money involved in cigarette sales. HUGE!

Hypocrites!

Anyway...

So, I wanted my fix in the cheapest way (read: give the government as little of my dollars as I could). Oh, and plus it's a neato geeky toy!:D

DITTO!!!!!

I started RMO a year and a half ago. Then, when they raised taxes, my loose tobacco tripled! (I have my own theory as to why that was) So I bought my first e-cig last week and I think I love it :p Haven't quit analogs yet but I hope to soon. Am now down to half of what I smoked before. Although I did NOT set out to quit, I want to now. This is much better. And I absolutely LOVE not giving "them" all my money!

Depends on what you mean.

I tried the gum.

I tried the patch.

I would have tried, but am wary of, chantix.

I tried cold turkey.

I've tried everything. Today, I got my 510 - I've had two cigarettes. I think I'm quitting smoking, don't you? I'll be vaping, but its a far cry better than smoking, thats for damn sure. So yes, I did go to e-cigs to quit - and I think its been successful so far, better than I expected :D

The "great place" Ft Hood
that is the exact intent i had when i did the research and purchase or my Ecig. i thought i would still need a few analogs to get by but once i got my kit and started vaping, i have not touched a real cig in 3 weeks. for me it was always the act of smoking that i needed. and now since i have huge plooms or vapor, that is all i need. as soon as my liquid supply that came with my first order runs out, i am going straight to zero nic and i dont think i will even notice the difference! good luck to all of us in this endeavor!!!

I bought my e cigarette because I had literally become depressed about not being able to beat my addiction to tobacco. It was a war I waged for one year. I had quit for close to four months before relapsing and finally coming to the realization that smoking was something that I hated and loved at the same time - Chantix actually helped me a great deal and was responsible for my being able to quit. I gave Allen Carr's book a chance and quit again before relapsing yet again. I had become desperate to stop the act of smoking that made me feel both mentally and physically ill. I decided that I would give vaping a chance and give it one month to see if I feel a difference. It's been over one month and I feel better than I have in years. I am 35 years old and can honestly say I have not felt the way I do mentally and physically since I was I was in high school.

So... I've technically "quit" analogs for two years... but on special occasions, or when I'd go out, I'd want one so bad I'd convince my husband to let me have one. I'd think about having one EVERY day. It's sick, I know.

Now I can vape at work when I'm stressed, go on the smoke breaks like everyone else and socialize if I want, or just have something to play with if I'd like to keep my hands busy.. And I don't reek. Now, the smell of analogs make me nauseous. Haven't had a single one in almost two months, for any reason. It's pretty nice not trying to find an excuse to smoke.

Vaping is a win-win in my book.

Absolutely started with the intention of quitting analogs. The second I picked up my 510 I never lit another cigarette again and have no desire to either.

The next big step is to be free of Nicotine altogether, but it's without most of the stress and health concerns of analogs. E-Cig Safety being up in the air is somewhat concerning me but I'm already feeling much better after 9 days.

I am sorry, but I do not believe for a cold-hearted second that none of you guys picked up this electronic device not to quit. This was the whole gimmick. This was the enticement. This is what all around us propose and advertise.
...
perhaps if I hadn't been a smoker for over 30 years and I had never tried an e-cig I would be skeptical too... but I have been, and I did, and without the intention of quitting I have, and almost over night! yeah, I've had about 1 "real smoke" a week 4 of the 5 weeks I started e-smoking, but each of them had the same effect... I thought I wanted it, lit it, then butted it out right away. again, I had no intention of quitting, loved smoking since forever, and now I'm about to order some "Cuban cigar" e-juice, thinking that I love the odd Cuban (I'm Canadian, we have them here) but now I'm used to e-smokes and prefer them to the real thing... I'm thinking perhaps cigars will be the same :p so no, I'm not being politically correct, I hate the term, and in fact, was working in a bar when they tried to ban smoking in bars in Ontario the first time. I never stopped, even kept an ashtray on my bar, so you won't hear anything PC from me. cheers, snuggs

I never wanted to quit smoking,I just wanted to stop paying all the crooks in politics who are reaping a windfall from one of the deadliest habit on the planet.Once I switched to PV's and discovered how I felt, well, let's just say I'm not going back.Sometimes the tree of liberty must be refreshed with the blood of tyrants and patriots.
 Same here and I want to quit.

I came in with the idea to quit. I was really nervous, because I tried other things and they just didn't work. I did the patch and that was expensive and still very painful; I found that it was still a struggle to not pickup a analog. With ecigs, well this is what I've always wanted quitting to be like. It was so easy for me to make the transition. The best part I'm helping friends and family members who want to quit, quit for good. Down with big tobacco!!

I feel the same way! Never wanted to quit, but was tired of paying the crooks in politics to kill myself! When Obama raised the taxes on cigs to pay for chips, thats when I said enough,no more money from me! Find your money from some fries or something! Which they will,if they can't get it from cigs, they will tax soda and hamburgers and anything they can think of! They will also make ecigs illeagal,or put a huge tax on them!

Yes, I bought mine with the intention to quit smoking (analogs) Today was my first day at work with the e-cig. I only smoked one analog the whole day and didn't get edgy or want to lop someone's head off. That's a pretty good thing for me! I've been smoking for 22 years and have never been able to quit. A few hours without a smoke and I'm ready to take down a convenience store usually. Gum tasted horrible and the patch... I wanted to roll it up and smoke it. None of them took the edge off while trying to quit. This gives me the physical and mental habit but without the stink. I did feel like there was a slight withdrawl but I think that was do to getting the "light flavor" liquid. I thought that meant flavor, not the dose of nicotine. That's ok because I do love the flavor (already addicted to java. Wait, maybe "addicted isn't the right word....) and I'm sure within a few days I'll be used to the "light."

I don't care about politically correct. Nor do I figure that the FDA gives a rat's behind about why I personally bought my first ecig. I'm not a big pharmaceutical corp with a lot of money to bribe them with, nor am I a lobby group with politicians in my pocket, so they don't care about me.

But I did not start vaping with any expectation of quitting smoking regular cigarettes. It looked sort of geeky neat and I wanted to be able to say I'd actually tried it. I figured I already smoke, so what the heck. Honestly, I didn't believe for a moment that it'd actually work for nicotine cravings and I figured it'd probably taste like crap.

I looked at a few forums and reviews before I bought one and saw some people talking about how they'd quit and how vaping was so great and I figured it was a load of bullsh*t. But I wanted to find out for myself.

Being wrong in all that was a rather pleasant surprise. LOL
