Absolutely! I went into this with the sole purpose of quitting! I had worked with a guy that had an eGo hanging on his neck all day and that piqued my interest. I asked questions and spent time watching him as he went about his daily activities. The funny thing is he and I used to smoke together and he had quit using this strange contraption. It took me over three months to make my mind up that I would give it a go myself. The best decision I ever made! Been almost three months and not a cig!

Quitting smoking was my reason to start vaping. I have wanted to quit for some time now, but I really liked smoking. (I had smoked for over 20 years.) I liked the ritual of rewarding myself with a "smoke break", I liked the physical activity of actually smoking, etc. However, I also knew I was doing so much damage to my body. (Especially my lungs.) How to quit? I was certain I could withstand the cravings, but not the rituals of smoking after a meal, in the car, while having a beer, etc. One day, I saw a commercial for Blu. Looked like the guy was actually smoking. My interest was piqued. I bought a disposable Blu menthol and tried it. It was ok, but I didn't think it would work for me. Seemed too weak. About a month later, I decided to look into trying an e-cig again to try to quit smoking. I ended up buying a Mystic 2. This worked a little better for me, but still not what I needed. I decided to do some online research, and that brought me here to ECF. WOW! I had no idea this whole world existed! I am a bit of a tech nerd...I really liked how some of them looked. I was informed by some very nice members that what I had was not a good representation of vaping. It was suggested I go to my local vape shop, (I had no idea these existed.) Once there, I tried out some juices, and decided upon a KangerTech EVOD. This is what I have needed!! Had I known about these, I would have quit smoking a long time ago. I get all the pleasure I used to receive from smoking, but none of the ill effects! I am now 9 days free from that cancerous habit, and I could not be happier. I try to spread the word whenever I see people smoking now. (I am sure I sound like some new-age weirdo.) I am so glad I found this site and was turned on to a great alternative!

I started vaping last summer in an effort to slow down smoking. I actually liked smoking during the 20 years that I did, however I started hating the smell on my car and clothes toward the end. I started with an eGo and would still smoke because the eGos didn't satisfy until I got a mechanical mod and a RDA. That changed everything. I now have the experience I was looking for; nicotine pleasure anywhere I wished (well, mostly anywhere) with awesome flavors instead of just exhaust muffler.

Nope, 30 year smoker, never wanted to quit, and never tried (probably afraid I would fail). Started vaping as purely a curiosity, and after the first 24 hours when I realized I wasn't smoking, wanted to see how long I could make it. I had some stumbles and smoked but never quit vaping. Finally I'm done. Not too shabby for not even wanting to quit!

Well just to volunteer my .02, I was smoking 2 1/2 packs a day, and I knew full well it was bad for me. I did enjoy my morning cigs with my coffee, but every morning when I lit the first one up I knew it was unhealthy, thought about that, and of course it was very expensive. Between my guy and I we were spending over $500 a month on cigs. I mean that's a bit over the top, eh?

Well one day Doug brought home an el cheapo ecig someone had given him, bought at a flea market, and I tried it. It was a truly wretched device, got juice in my mouth, the vapor was pretty sad compared to what I now use, the flavor of whatever was in it sucked pretty bad, and you could only vape on it for 2 hours before you had to charge it for 3 hours, but I saw the potential. While it lasted between charges I didn't have to smoke. I knew I wanted off the cigs, and without thinking about it that became the goal.

I knew there had to be a better way, and I went back to the flea market where this crappy little device came from and found a guy selling the standard starter kits, eGo batteries and clearos, and got a couple batteries, a topper, and some juice. This was a lot better than what I started with, but still not really doing it for me in the satisfaction area. I could now go all day without smoking a cig though, and once I had that it was the end of my cigs. I've not had one since July 2nd, and never will again. I was still looking for my perma-vape though.

Six weeks later I was vaping on my mech and RBA and I had really arrived. I enjoy that far more than I ever did smoking, and it's a lot healthier.

I liked smoking, even though I knew the downfall. I didn't care & it was terrible I thought that too as I'm a 3rd gen. career firefighter.
My daughter was born & I promised my wife I'd quit. ( She was a smoker until we decided to "try") First tried the NJoy cig-a-like & it wasn't what I was after. So I took back to smoking...fast forward to today. My 2nd daughter is due at the end of March & while I never smoked around my family my daughter Olive is now 3 & has seen me "going outside" & asks me if she can come with me outside. So plainly put I didn't want my girls watching daddy screw up 30 times a day. I'm not going to be a hypocrite in years to come when I tell them why smoking is bad either. So yeah, I wanted to quit. For me, in my line of work (5-15 calls a day) I don't need any extra stress with quitting smoking. So vaping has replaced it & I jumped in with both feet. It's kept me from hulking out on anyone because I'm jones'n.

Halo Triton for the past month. I'm already looking to upgrade to a Provari, but with that pricetag (Dave Ramsey follower) I'm doing some saving/research into it first.

No! I smoked 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day for over 30 years. My cough was awful, and I felt like crap.

I live in Canada, and initially crossed the border and purchased a Blu starter pack just to check it out. I charged it in the car on the way home, threw my cigarettes in the glovebox, and have not touched a stinky since. That was 4 months ago.

I love being a non-smoker!!!!

havent given up smoking yet. ive been a ~1/2 pack (10 cigarette) smoker for about 15 years and never tried to cut down or quit.

ive been vaping for 24 days now. Initially, i was drawn to the novelty aspect of using a vape. I bought one just to try it out but had no intention of using it full time in place of analog cigarettes. In the 24 days ive been using the vaporizer ive bought 5 packs of cigarettes. Normally, i would have bought 10 or 11 packs in that amount of time.

im still not sure ill give up smoking completely but using the vaporizer has reduced the urgency with which i used to buy smokes. id like to quit smoking altogether for the obvious health reasons. As of now, however, my realistic goal is to simply cut down on cigs. if i could get it down to 1 or 2 a day id be perfectly happy with that.

in the little bit of time ive been vaping, i've learned that i could survive on the vape alone (if i had to, of course).

Smurfdude ...

NO, I totally quit by accident!

You sound much like me in that I loved my cigarettes, and thoroughly enjoyed most every one of them :) I never seriously tried to quit.

I was heading out for a 600 mile roadtrip to New York City and stopped at my favorite smoke shop. Had a few minutes to spare and told them to tell me a little about the e-cig kit they had out for demo.

Bought the kit (2 ego bats & disposable clearo tanks) and some juice & off I went.

The short version is that within 10 days I had stopped reaching for the t-burners and it hit me that I hadn't smoked one in a day & 1/2!

My 43 year relationship with cigarettes had ended in an amicable divorce - and I got to regain custody of my life!

There is nothing I miss about those things, and thoroughly enjoy all the benefits that come with quitting.

That includes improvements in my singing & vocal production! The transition in & out of the high range is nearly effortless, and I've gained a couple of notes up there! My Barbershop Quartet mates are quite pleased! :)

Welcome to the next chapter of your life and I hope you enjoy it nearly as much as I do mine!

Outstanding HoseGarden!!

I love how you have approached the vaping vs smoking thing - and that you're starting to recognize that you can evolve into a non-smoker some day!

And I trust that day will come for you, and likely sooner than you might think :)

I did not plan on quitting. One of of my buddy's quit smoking analogs and made the switch to vaping. One day while i was chillin with him I asked if I could take a couple hits and I immediately realized what everyone was raving about. Something about the sweet tasting flavor caught my attention. I went out a coupe days later and picked myself up an ego starter kit from a local shop with a 10ml bottle of juice and have been smoke free ever since! I must say I do feel a lot better than when I smoked analogs. Defiantly recommend it to anyone ever remotely thinking about the switch!!

I started vaping because I felt it MAY be an easier, softer way to quit. I was very skeptical. I went at it half ... at first, I really was just looking for a way to supplement my cigarette habit when I was not able to smoke. That was about 2 years ago. E-cigs have come a LONG way since then, so I am giving it another try because I am SO sick of the smell. I normally smoke about 25 cigarettes a day. I have had a total of 4 cigarettes over the last 3 days. To me that is some sort of success. NO CIGS today so far. I decided to invest in a good set up and treated myself to some yummy flavors and I can't wait to get everything in the mail. Holding on tight to my old cheapo set up right now, it is around my neck, like a security blanket. I have spent a few bucks over the last few days, but compared to the cost of a carton, it is money well spent.
Talking to folks on this forum has also been a lifesaver. So to answer your question....no I didn't intend to quit, but after seeing how easy and practically painless this has been, I am giving it a go, but doing it very gently. Best of luck to you! God bless!

The best advice I picked up from ECF is this: count, and celebrate the cigarettes you have NOT smoked!

What you have done so far is not "some sort of success", that is true and real success!!!!

You continue to progress at your pace, and we are all very confident the day will come when you will gleefully describe yourself as an ex-smoker!!

You go Doreen! :)

When I stayed up late and gamed I smoked like a chimney. 2 packs a day was nothing on my days off. My wife even got on me with smoking in the house late at night when she was in bed. My solution was a little fan. It was not until my 8 year old autistic daughter complained about the smoke when I knew something had to be done. I honestly was not looking for a reason to quit when I stumbled into an old co worker that was using a ego and a clearomizer. I laughed at him because I knew he smoked as much as I did we even took smoke breaks together at work. So on my way home I slid by the place he told me where I could get a cheap kit and some juice. I figured 30 bucks I was not out much I spent that much on cigarettes. I put my smokes in the door of my truck when after I got my ego. And they stayed there for a week. I knew I was done with cigarettes after that. I gave away a full carton to a friend of mine and bought a vamo and more juice. That was last march, I have not looked back not had one cigarette since the day I bought my ego t. My wife and daughter are very happy that the house does not smell like smoke anymore and I feel 100% better. I still have my ego t to remind me of that day but it's long since retired due to my MVP and VTR.

I wasn't a smoker, I was a dipper but I knew I had to quit. There is a guy who I work with who dips and his teeth are just ....ing outrageous and I am like man.....If I keep dipping that's what I have to look forward to and I tried quitting regularly and just couldn't, order a Vamo V5 and I haven't dipped for a little more than a week, and I don't see myself going back.

My best friend gave up smoking for dipping. Used to ride me constantly because I kept on smoking. Well, I found vaping and quit smoking, and have since quit vaping. We buried my friend alittle over a year ago. They told us the "chaw" was what did it.

I claim I ACCIDENTLY quit smoking. Started with a BLU starter kit. It was crap, but knew from my first puff that I could switch off tobacco to ecig. Became concerned I might be vaping too much cinnamon, (imagine that from a smoker). Mixed my next DIY batch without Cinnamon. A couple days later I discovered that I'd also left the NICOTINE out of that batch. Decided who needs it. That was the beginning of the end of my vaping. Took me a couple years to shun the "hand to mouthy, oral gratification thingy." Dec 6th I anniversaried 1 year since my last vape. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu
