Did you start vaping as a stepping stone to quit or a permanent replacement to cigs?

Coming up on two month newbie with no cigs. Wanted to get off cigs, been smoking them for 40+ years. Started with 24mg nic, down to 18mg now. Hopefully keep nibbling it down. Also smoke a pipe so I can get my big nic fix from them. Really pleased on how the e-cigs take care of that oral fixation and something to do with your hands which are both a part of using the coffin nails!

For me, neither was the reason to start vaping. I started only because I cannot smoke in the company vehicles during long trips, no smoking in the office, at my favorite tap house you can't smoke inside, can't drink outside *grrrr* so I simply started vaping to satisfy any cravings when I couldn't smoke. Fortunately, I was only vaping for 3 days before I realized I went from a pack and a half down to 3 or 4 cigs on the 3rd day. I still bought a pack "just to be sure" and just started vaping. The transition was nearly seamless! I would still get a craving every so often for the first 6 weeks or so but haven't touched a smoke since. I currently have no ambitions to quit vaping either... especially since I discovered NET's! Although I cut my nic level from 24mg to between 12 and 18mg depending on my mood.

I started vaping basically to try and save some money by cutting down on the ciggies. Found I liked vaping more than smoking and took up vaping full-time instead.

I've no intention of quitting vaping and even after 4.5 months I'm still on 24mg nicotine solution. Only problem is I'm not saving much money, cos I keep buying new toys :D

This!

I also started vaping to save money on cigarettes. After the first week I had no desire to smoke cigarettes, but I've spent far more on startup for vaping than I would have spent on cigs in the last month. I think it will level out now that I have a small collection and all I will need to buy for a while is e-juice.

Same for me, except im on 18/20mg and am saving a bit of money as used to spend about £300 a month on fags. I havent smoked a normal ... (or analog, whatever you guys are calling them!) for just over 5 weeks and i have spent about £250 on devices and eliquids, but this should get cut down eventually, although i am already feeling the need to purchase a provari, but telling myself to give it at least another month before i fork out the £250 or so to get the one i want with the various bits ;)

I'm in my mid-40's now and it's become crystal clear that I'm wired for a nicotine habit. Denying myself nicotine leaves me hollow and effects my mental state to the point where it affects my life in a negative way.

Tried it all including pills (they worked but I relapsed). Last few years I've been using nrt's most of the time but "allowed" myself to smoke one day a week (and I would crush a pack or more). I realized that was no way to live life my life. It's a constant battle of wills. I have kids and I'm past the age where permanent damage from smoking can't be fully reversed so the crossroads had to be dealt with.

Heavily researched vaping and it become obvious that risk/reward was worth it for me. I'll never say never but I have no intention of quitting anytime in the next couple of years. That's as far ahead as anyone should look anyways. Life is full of twists and turns that can't be predicted.

I took up vaping to replace cigarettes. I didn't have any intention or desire to break my nicotine addiction and, I still don't. I just vape instead of smoking now.

I had already tried every means out there to quit smoking and failed so, my mind was set that I was never going to quit smoking. Spent the first year vaping chasing the highest nicotine I could get - yep typical addict, looking for the best buzz. Now, whatever as long as I have a couple of 24 mg juices to use when I do need it, and some tasty 6mg and 0mg, just to enjoy.

Will I quit vaping someday? Maybe but that isn't in my plans right now and, I don't see it getting there but, time and life changes us all, and changes our plans.

When I first started, I used it as a way to ween off of cigarettes. Problem was that it didnt work, cuz if I had them in my pocket I'd smoke them. Woke up one day and said today I won't buy any and let's see how I do. Haven't picked up a cig since. See how you do without them around. You'll be surprised that you won't need them after a vape.

I've been vaping only 3 days. Very much a noob. I started because a friend of mine (who is also on here)' ImJan, was talking to me about it. I asked her a lot of questions and I looked at quite a few websites, including this forum. I REALLY got interested when I saw all the hardware. I'm a computer tech junky and anything related. WOW! Lot's and lots of hardware. I am also a different kind of smoker. I don't like the smell, people smoking around me while I eat and how people drop their butts on the ground when walking a few feet to put their .... in the trash or ashtray. I have friends that aren't very careful smokers. Ashtray is there for them and if they flick their ash and it makes it into the ashtray great, if not, oh well, it can be cleaned up. Dirty, smelly ashtrays and white walls that turned sepia tone because of smoke is nasty too. I found Vapor Parlor in Folsom, CA very close to where hubby works, so he took me this past Saturday afternoon. He wasn't too interested, wanting me to try it and see how it worked out for me. We got there and he tried it and really got I to all the different flavors. Me, I smoked Camel menthol lights. I tried a couple flavors and went for the closest thing to menthol Vapor Parlor had. I haven't quit cigarettes completely yet. Neither has hubby. Saturday, the day I started vaping I had 3 analogs. Sunday 1 and today 1.

I find I really liked to smoke until I got my PV. Both hubby and I have ego-c's with clearomizers. We both have 3 tanks. I hope to get rid of the 1 analog I smoke and on,y vape. I'm still in the finding the perfect juice so I won't want to smoke. Both hubby and I have the goal to get down to the lowest nic level and eventually to 0mg. If we don't get to the lowest nic or to 0, we're not going to be disappointed because we love vaping. We'll do it the rest of our lives. Personally, I love being able to use my Mac mini or MacBook Air while vaping. No. Need to go outside to smoke.
