Congrats Kimmer and Steph and all on the successes! I had a good week also and lost 3.5 pounds. So I'm going to continue and see how the routine goes this week. Blessings all! I think not eating after 6 made a lot of difference! I'm not ready to get out the old wardrobe yet, but there's hope for me yet. Have a good week, all!

This is where I am right now, glad to have stumbled across this thread this morning.

Now that I've got the analog situation licked I need to focus on losing some weight. Something I've battled pretty much my whole life. I go through phases where I do really great, lose 20 pounds and then slack off and gain it right back. I've done Weight Watchers with limited success and Atkins with great weight loss success buy my hair paid the price for that.

My biggest problem is sweets especially for breakfast. We have an awesome donut shop right next door to my office. It's so easy to pop over there and get something yummy.

So wish me luck, not sure which method I'll be going with this time...how sad is that...this time...but it's time to take it a step further and get as serious about losing some weight as I am about not smoking.

Now to go back and read all the responses on this thread to see what's working for everyone else.

Stephaniems is right. A pound a week is a glorious loss and practical. You'll see that my program is very loose and adjusting every week. You might have also seen that I gained the first 2 weeks, so something is adjusting in me. Right now the program is only to drink 64oz water/day, a couple miles 3x, and no eating after 6. I'll see how it goes.

I'm with you Kargonet and I know all of the ladies here are, too. There's a saying in the AA programs: "Progress, not perfection." I try to remember that. At the age of 54, I have been through many, many iterations of diets and quick fixes. Now I want to feel well and not drive myself crazy in the process. I wish you the same.

Okay.........ya'll talked me into this. When I had my kidney removed I lost 20 pounds. And even at that I still needed to lose about 30 more. Did I do that???? Heck no!!! I put 40 back on! So when I went for my kidney checkup in January they said that there was too much sugar in my urine sample. So I went to a regular doctor and was told that my fasting sugar level was 174 and he was gonna put me on diabetes meds. I said 'when?' and he said 'now'!!! NOW???? But....but....what about diet and exercise??? So, by the next checkup after 3 months I had lost 18 lbs. No meds for me!! Yippee!! Now it has been about 7 months and I am down 34 lbs. No exercise (I know!! BAD!!!) and we have been on vacation and gone to the fair 2 weekends in a row. Put a couple back on. Now it's back to it. Salad garnished w/ celery, white canned chicken, hard boiled egg, yellow bell pepper, and some sunflower seeds. And yes, I still use way too much salad dressing but it's still a bazillion less calories than all of the fried foods I was eating. My pant size has gone down by 6 inches but I still have a ways to go.

Sorry for the book. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! :)

I just eat normal healthy no way I could survive on salad, thats another thing the doctor talked about salads are not a meal not even if you have grilled chicken or steak on top of it. Said salads set you up for failure because you don't get enough protein and fats, so your body freaks out and talks your brain into eating something that would be really bad for you. Small side salads only was his orders on it :). I think he's a bit over board but his plate ratio is 50% protein 50% for carbs and veggies. No diet stuff only real food no low fat. ALWAYS have breakfast lunch and dinner but very few snacks. And if you want that slice of cake eat it but only a small slice and only 1 small bad thing a day if you feel you have to have something like that. Try to only have water and tea but if you have to have a coke go for the real thing no chemical sugar.

So far its been working for me pretty well I go for a check up next week so we will see what my total loss is.

Keep up the great effort everyone.

I've given up on Weight Watchers, too much obsessing over points. I've recently taken up yoga, about 1/2 hr a day and just adjusted my portion sizes (dropped meat and starch portions and upped the veggies). During the week I only snack on fruit. Weekends, all bets are off, I eat what I want (without going crazy), we have wine on Sat. and I don't exercise. That way I always have the weekend to look forward to. I've dropped 5 lbs so far after 1 month. I'm not really concerned about the actual pounds, I just want my clothes to fit better. So far it's working for me.

Well washing walls, moving furniture and packing is a good way to lose weight! I am down 4 lbs..so far it hasn't found me to jump back on (I am always driving lately)! But better then that bit of weight loss is that my jeans are not as tight! Whoo Hoo!
Of couse some of it can be put down to the fact i am way to tired to eat!

way to go MK... The most interesting thing I have learned about myself is to always eat protein when I eat fruit.. I always felt really ill when I ate fruit, so I never ate it for years and years.. Was just a veggie person.. Now I eat fruit all the time but I eat it with a serving of protein and it doesn't make me feel ill..

Wanted to share what happens when you stop analogs and use ecigs :)... It's my progress results pictures from stopping smoking, eating clean, and 2 rounds of P90X.. I also had to learn how to deal with the set backs of perimenopausal symptoms.. Since getting the weight off and gaining muscle and a strong suppliment to support my changing bodies needs, all my harsh 24 hour (p-m) symptoms have stopped and my body has re balanced. There are certain foods that are helpful for belly fat and high estrogen busters and blockers.. And they your typical whole foods as well as the sups, just typical find everywhere sups that are helpful...

Hello Beautiful Girls,

Had a crazy work week, I’m a little late getting back. I was rather slovenly this week. And true to form, had weird results, gaining back 2 pounds and losing another inch. Whatever :)! Down is down, right? Anyway, it’s so wonderful hearing everyone’s story, since I didn’t have time to check, just want to say Hi to everyone and tell you that it matters to me that you guys are such a generous support for me. Thank you. You are helping me be accountable and I haven’t done that for awhile. This last week I learned how work takes me over and I push my body as a priority to last place. This is a habit I hope to alter. Work, men, politics, a change in the weather (just kidding, but you name it) can divert my attention.

NotSoGood, love the new avatar, and I laughed out loud at your story. Congrats, though, on your accomplishments.
Stephaniems, wonderful as always to hear your reports, and gain insight from your process.
Aine…Hi, nice to meet you. I have a similar thing I do on Saturdays and holidays, just have whatever I want. I feel the same way, it keeps me from feeling “in want.”
Mary Kay…congrats on your move and your new digs AND the weight loss. Awesome girl!
PatriciaCO…you look amazing – fantastic.
TheLook…I can’t imagine pancakes doing anything to such a beauty other than make her beauty even sweeter, so have at it if it’s gonna drive you crazy!

Have a great week all and Good Fortune.
