Why is it that people always try to discourage ecigs? I actually converted a coworker of kine to ecigs, he wad on out for about 3 wks, and got the flu so stopped. Now he's not on analogs or his ecigs and continues to say it's stupid to stay on it. Obviously he was never really addicted I assume or just does it socially. He was bedder a 1-1.5pack a day smoker, but at times I just feel like slapping him upside his head.

I hear it from my analog smoker friends too! They always tell me if you want to stop smoking cigarettes what's the point of continuing with ecigs, then I explain. The fact is that I love smoking! I don't want to quit but this is by far the best substitute ever I feel great! Hard headed friends, if you really wanted to quit you would do what I do but obviously your not strong enough to kick the nasty habit!

Even nonsmokers try to tell me, you know that really isn't that much healthier for you your still getting nicotine, you should try to stop it all together. Nicotine is bad for you! No it's not! To me nicotine is just as addictive as caffeine but you aren't going to stop doing that! I know people that cannot get through the day without several cups of coffee so just because you can have it and not resemble smoke it makes it okay?

I know nicotine is a cardiovascular constrictor, but so isn't caffeine/coffee! Why is this any different?! I know I feel 100% better just 35 days in, and yes no longer do I crave a analog! I crave a nice flavor filled vape! Do you guys experience this daily? I do!

How do you guys not allow these jerks to sway you away? I mean I'm obviously not going to listen, but I think this would be great for or new vapers cause this was probably one of the biggest hurdles I faced in my first month. I'm over there bs now but I still hear it every day! What have you experienced?

This was also a way to vent over the idiots I hear from daily! I wish I could make and keep new vapers daily but this is the toughest part.. Help these guys out! :D

"Your still smoking that fake cigarette?" I get that one Alot from some of my smoker friends. I know your discouragement, but it is not about them or what they think. It is about what works for you. I never wanted to give up nicotine but smoking was really getting to me, and my wallet. vaping was a god send for me. I have been vaping 36 mg juice for 2 years now and only now decided that I should try to lower my nicotine intake or even drop it to zero. If I get to zero nic juice will I continue to vape? You bet your sweet ... I will! Point of the story; it is your life do what you feel is best for you.

Thanks BloodWolf. To be honest, back in the day cigarette smokers were always frowned upon by nonsmokers. All these bad things cigarettes cause and you sill smoke? You must be dumb!

As a vaper, you get it from both! Smokers and nonsmokers. Both consist of idiots that will never understand..

Tell your friends that there is nicotien in tomatoes too, are they going to stop eating them? I think smokers feel guilty about their habbit and try to make you feel guilty about ecigs, human nature really, and as for non smokers, just ask them where they get their information from, mostly they just make it up, let them know you have done a lot of research about ecigs and decided that it was the right option for you.

...and ye shall be afflicted by the ignorant and they shall be called LUDDITES...lololol...I have run into the same thing on a regular basis...while I have had little positive feedback from some smokers, I was surprised by the amt of support I have gotten from non-smokers...especially those who have never smoked...........

Tell'em you changed brands; found something you like BETTER!

I think the mistake of many is to think we're trying to quit the part we enjoyed from the stinkies. Truth is, all I really wanted was the relaxation and relief that got me hooked on analogs to begin with, but NOW I also have FLAVOR...and I prefer it over a candy bar! well....except for Butterfingers! ;)

I've gotten that from people too. I just look at them (non-ex-smokers) and state that the only reason I am vaping instead of smoking is because of the money and to shut them up (from all the second hand, smell, etc whining). smokers who bother me - I just ask them if they like being harrassed about smoking..no? well then leave me alone. if anyone mentions the health aspect, I ask them if they plan to take care of me when I am 100 yrs old! (I am childless and really have no desire to live that long) I'm old though and I don't really care what anyone thinks! it's great being old LOL

Amen Madjack, well said!

I've been fortunate, when I tell people I quit smoking cigarettes and tell them the tales of the patch and chantix, it's usually enough for them to say wow, great!

I'm also sure to tell the occassional few smokers who poo poo it that I can pretty much vape stealthily anywhere I want and I never have to go out in the rain...........or snow again!

Haters are gonna hate!

If there is really nic in tomatoes, I'm just going to stop eating salad! That way I can control my nic intake! Haha!

The changing brands things sounds right! I try to tell them Im not trying to quit! I love the alone time I get from smoking! I would be the one that would rather smoke alone than listen to someone trying to talk to me during my smoke break! Now I get both!

P.S. Butterfingers! Mmmmm..

Btw don't think I can use the saving money excuse.. Granted they don't know but I'm just starting out and spending the same. Lol I love my .... and trying juices haha. Soon though! I promise! Still looking fir my every day vape! I'm all over the place currently.. I can't lie! Lol

This is what I recently told a friend who has started using a personal vaporizer.

Friend wrote:
People say I’m still smoking, even though I’m using my PV. Am I just fooling myself, here?

Newbz wrote:
You tell them they can suck my +++++. People use ‘look a-likes’ to quit bad habits, to get healthy, or just to look better all the time. We don’t say a recovering alcoholic is ‘fooling himself’ when he drinks a Shirley Temple at a party to be social. We don’t say a dieter is ‘fooling themselves’ when they eat a low calorie dessert at a restaurant. As a society we don’t criticize people who get boob jobs, diabetics who use Splenda, or those guys who ride around on a Segway instead of walking (although we should on that last one. I mean, seriously? A Segway?) Instead, we congratulate them on their efforts and wish them well on their journey.

Okay, maybe not a family friendly message, but true, nevertheless.

Next time someone is giving you flack, just remind them that their opinion of you is really none of your business. ;)

Good luck! :)

I usually tell smokers who gripe at me this..."At least I've taken my foot out of the grave. You're just putting the other one in." or "What, are you too chicken to try it?" That usually shuts them up. As for non-smokers, I'll tell them "I just hate ignorant people!" or "Why don't you quite drinking soda, coffee, and tea!" For non-smokers, I will almost always tell them both. That generally freaks them out and then they know they'll have an argument on their hands if they continue to run their mouths.

Wow this thread got a lot of support already! Obviously something we all encounter from the beginning and never ending. That is quite encouraging! This would be great for newbs. Do not let others dictate what you think is helping you! I didn't I got over it and don't care what others have to say anymore! I am still addicted to my pv, I won't lie but not nearly as much as analogs! A week ago, I didn't vape for 8 hrs and I was fine! In that abbr 8 hrs I wools have been killing everyone I saw if I didn't have 8-10 analogs! I'm still learning though. Damn cartos, and chibi tanks leak on me every now and then but I also didn't know how to smoke inhale and pace myself on smoking analogs over night! It takes patience!

I was in Sears Auto Center today vaping my 5v box mod and the sales guy asks me if I get nicotine from that like I would a real cigarette. Two others joined in just cus I blew out a big cloud ( Luv it) I said yes, it's just like smoking. A lady asked whats the brown stuff? I had a dark juice in the tank. I told that it was nicotine, flavoring and other chemicals PG and VG to help you produce vapor. I told them how I tried everything to quit smoking and this was the only thing that kept me from inhaling harmful tobacco smoke. We discussed nicotine how it only has about the same health risks as coffee drinking and it does not cause cancer, heart, lung disease or strokes. Surprised, the lady said she heard that too. A big Italian guy asked me how long I had been using the e-cig. I told him over 9 months. He said then why haven't you quit already? I explained to them that I enjoy the nicotine effect and since the e-cig isn't going to harm or kill me like smoking, I choose to continue to use it.

This is something a lot of people just don't understand. They have been so wrongly taught that nicotine is bad for them so they assume all nicotine is bad for them, never making a distinction between the nicotine from smoke and the cleaner nicotine from vapor.

We just have to live knowing that for the most part people need to be re-educated on this subject. if you want more acceptance from your peers, make it your job to re-educate them.

What I don't get is why people don't just live and let live.

I was addicted TERRIBLE to smoking. Trying to quite was awful, did it several times for a month. It was mental agony the whole time. However it was easy for me to switch to the e-cig. And I just got over the flu myself... didn't vape at all for about 3 days. I was fine. I didn't crave anything. I vaped today. I enjoy vaping... but its not a "need" like smoking was.

Do I think everyone should be like me, or do things like me because I can do it so easy? NO. I think to each his own. VAPE on... if you love to, then vape! There will be nah sayers in every walk of life. Ignore them. Its hard sometimes... but its the only way to stay sane. :)

I saw a comment on here a while ago where the poster said he gets questioned all the time by random people basically saying "what is that thing" and one of the replies was "oh this, it's a fake cigarette, and the smoke is fake too" that really cracked me up and i must admit i have used that line now, it's really funny to see the look of confusion on randoms faces.
