Ahhh... now I get the sudden avatar changes.

I understand that there have to be rules for an entity like ECF to operate with a modicum of decorum. But rules need to be applied with the a modicum of sensibility and consideration. Draconian application of rules may enforce the "letter of the law" but when it comes at the expense of alienating a well-respected member and proliferate contributor to the community on-the-whole, it is a disservice to the membership and community.
She will not be back.
If so, that is our loss. And a(nother) black eye for ECF.

I have been a member of this forum for the last two and a half years. I have not posted much in the last six months or so, but I visit the forum everyday. In the past I posted a lot in the original Kayfun thread and the Poldiac thread.
Roxy became one of the most knowledgeable members in the RBA threads and has helped so many people with their problems and guiding them to the correct tanks for their vaping style. I have never heard or seen her not be nice to everyone. She truly loved helping people with their vaping problems and questions. I looked forward to her posts each day.
It makes me sick to see such a nice person be treated the way she has been treated by the operators of this forum. She helped with the design of this tank to help fellow vapors have the perfect tank. She got absolutely no pay for this at all.
This forum is really getting some bad "press" in the vaping communities on the internet over the way this issue was handled.
I hate that all this has taken place on the forum I have so enjoyed spending time on for the last few years.
Maybe this forum is not what I thought it was.
I am really disappointed...............

I never did quite understand the supplier rule. I participate on a numbers of forums from food to coffee to vaping and many other topics. Without exception every single one of them has suppliers, vendors, etc that post. They are free to post and join in any conversation they wish as long as they don't use the opportunity to plug their products. Posts like that are only allowed in certain sections of the various forums. It works brilliantly well and the only time you ever see anyone trying to skirt the rules are new people who don't know better. A simple warning or two followed by a ban does the trick and its never an issue. I don't really understand why this forum doesn't take the same approach. It's ridiculous not to allow people to post just because of what they do or where they work as long as they aren't trying to market their products when doing so and outside of the designated locations. You would think you would actually want those people to post since they are clearly pretty experienced in at least some areas and can provide some insight others couldn't. On a coffee forum I visit I have learned most of what I know from vendors sharing their knowledge and they are usually the first to answer questions. All without ever mentioning their company or product.

It just doesn't make sense to me. I don't understand the basis for this rule at all any why it would be an issue here when its not on 100s of other forums with a similar premise.

Yes there needs to be rules to maintain a civil society.

However to pick on someone that helped design an RTA that was not paid for it, anc had no financial gain from it and charge them to be a member as if she was a vendor is a damn shame.

FREE ROXY!

I got to know Roxy after i joined ECF. Jim G an elderly vaper and Korean war Veteran lost his nano chimney. I posted a message asking for help. Roxy bundled up all of her kayfun gear and sent it to me for him.

She went out of her way to help someone she didnt even know.

That is the kind of people we need here at ECF; but she was booted for not paying her fair share.

I have helped improve lots od Anti-Virus software, at one time i was under 10 different non disclosure agreements with McAfee, Central point antivirus, Untouchable by 5th Generation Software, Bangkok Security Associates, Trend Micro Devices, Kaspersky, VDS, Integrity Master, Virex PC and others.

I never made a red cent off it, and seversl companies like Trend Micro, Untouchable, Virex PC, Kaspersky all tried to hire me. I turned all of them down because when you take money you cant be honest and call a dog a dog.

I Co-designed CHK-SAFE. A little program that calculated 128 bit hash values for files in archives. The odds of thr fies being tempered and retaining the same value was a 39 digit integer to 1. A billion is a 10 digit integer.

I never made a cent off that either. There are some things too important. This was back before easy access to the net.

I did a little work fir MIT to snatch an unknown virus do a preliminary report and send a specimen off to F-Prot, integrity Mastee, and the other AV developers i knew. In return for the help i provided MIT gave me free internet access.

Then i was able to download AV software from their home sites so i knew tge files i had were authentic so i ran CHK-SAFE over these files and posted the CHK-SAFE reports on AOL, COMPUSERVE, and about a dozen forums.

With CS-251.ZIP available onAOL, Compuserve, hundreds of BBS's anf SimTel mirror sites. Thr end user could run chk safe over thr files available at local. BBSs and tell in minutes if the files had been tampered with in any way.

Slowly i established credibility and was asked to moderate six PC security forums. I didnt get paid for that either.

The thing i am most proud of is completely destroying InVircible. A program that allegedly

Detected all viruses
Removed all viruses
if InVircible became infected it would detect the infection and repair itself.

At the time i had almost 3000 viruses in my collection and i carefully chose 9 little viruses and definitively showed under real conditions that InVircible was nothing but hype. Zvi Netiv the developer of InVircible callef me every name in thr book plus he invented a few. I didnt back down an inch. So they asked Vessein Vladimirov Bontchev of the Virus Test Center of Hamburg Germany to test InVircible to see who was lying. Vesselin wrote a 120+ page analysis demonstrating the sevurity holes, and Vesselin credited me for bringing the problems in InVircible to the public's attention.

Forums need people of good will and integrity. Roxy was such a person, and u think ECF has made a HUGE mistake here.

I have enjoyed helping people here when i can. I have enjoyed being a member of this community but if this gets me banned so be it.

ECF isn't the only vaping forum. It was tge best because it had the mosy knowledgeable people.

Getging rid of the experts is going the wrong way.

If a person is a vendor and selling through ECF charging them a fee is fine.

An expert like Roxy was not making a dime through ECF. She was here for tgr same reason most veterans and i am.

There is no need for newbies to repeat the mistskes we made wben starting out.

It's not cool to set a bar, and kick out everyone whose level of knowledge exceeds it.

Other (interest) forums I habitate see it as a huge bonus, having hobbyists-turned-professionals hanging out and sharing their insight. It's not like they are peddling their wares at every opportunity, even tho their signatures avatars often are company logos.

Its a fine line to walk, but I believe it is doable. That is, having commercial professionals hanging out just like any other member. Some may not know where the line is, but that should be handled on a case-by-case basis, IMHO.

Just my 2 cents. Oh... and free Roxy. Then again... maybe that bird truly has migrated. :(

I haven't even been here a year and even I've bought multiple tanks based primarily on threads that Roxynoodle started. If I've been here since August and she's been promoting, talking about, and working with actual manufacturers on, multiple devices and it was never a problem, then I don't get it. I don't get what invisible line has been crossed because she had more input in designing one tank that she isn't even getting paid for.

If the judgement leading to such a drastic action is by definition so arbitrary and undefinable, then it shouldn't be a hard rule to begin with.

Don't know Roxy not sure I even started a conversation with her but I have read a lot of her posts & seems like a member you would want on any forum. Would love to have her on my facebook group. This to me sounds like someone had a hair across their ..... I also have noticed in the short time I have been here ECF seems to be going down hill & most likely I will not be continuing my supporting member status.

I do know what to think, and that is a heart felt apology is owed to Roxy. Of course this is not likely to happen, so this form will continue to slow down as it bleeds members to another form where there contributions are appreciated and acknowledged. If I have broken any written or unwritten forum rules with this post so be it.
