hey ECF users
just got myself a Zmax V1 today in stainless steel and tbh iam not impressed. i have the trustfire batteries fully charged and iam using the VW mode with a vivi nova/ce4 clearo and another different clearo which all produce fairly decent results on my ego batteries.

i purchased the zmax to "extract" more flavour from my juices and make use of the different Ohm heads i have lying around(1.8/2.4/2.8) the lower ohm atomizer heads dont fair well in the ego batteries i have(non twist).

every clearo with my usual juices taste foul with the zmax all wattage settings ie: 3.0w-10w
disappointing new buy, it seems the further into the rabbit hole i go the more put off iam with vaping.:(

i use 2.0ohm carts set at 5.0 volts. good luck
.
OMG if i tried 5.0 volts with 2.1 or even the 2.8 it would burn my tonsils lol and set my throat on fire.

like i said its in variable wattage mode so it should adjust voltage. iam aware the zmax 1 has no RMS setting so the MEAN setting is not very good, does MEAN apply to VW mode aswell?

Not sure what affect the device (Zmax, in this case) might be having on your results, if any.

My guess is - if there's change in the way things are tasting - to look toward the carto/atomizer.

It's quite possible you've fidgeted with the settings enough (too high/low/etc) that the coils are shot (burnt wick, etc; once burnt/fried, it never goes away.) I'd recommend starting with a fresh coil/head - and moderate your volts/watts, to see how things go.

Switch to VV mode and try again with 2.4 head starting from let say 3.6 volts and go up by .1 volts increment.

My assumption is that VW mode doesn't work properly, probably setting your voltage to low.

am i correct in saying 3.6v on the version 1 Zmax could well be 4v because there is no RMS setting ?

i have a new 2.4 Ohm head in the redux clearo wicking as i type should i go VW say 4.0? just to start

thanks for your input all

Vivi nova/ce4 top coil stuff don't wick very well giving dry/burnt hits IMO. It's a fighting gravity thing. I get much better results from carto tanks.

Dual Coil 510 Tank Cartomizer

I replace the dual coil cartos with XL single coils.

i feel this could well be my issue, the best or least nasty tasting of them all is the Vivi nova ATM

juices are Halo Tribeca well steeped/vapor stations Frisco

Forget for a moment about RMS and VW mode - just switch to Variable Voltage mode, put any head, start from 3.4-3.6 volts and then go up by .1 volts untill you hit the perfection.

better results :)
i have decided the Redux clearo is a complete load of...... will leave it for a few days see if it improves with juice in it.
the Vivi nova with a good amount of juice is better.
flavour isnt better than before but like donesmokin said wicking is an issue sometimes depending on juice.

this Zmax must run hotter on the coils. nasty flavour isnt there now its a VERY sweet spot with VV.
its a learning curve alright, next up carto tanks lmao

thanks again for all the input

eXsmok3r -- Sorry to hear about your problems and to be honest, I had similar issues with a Zmax V1 myself. I was fortunate in that I was able to swap it out for the V2 and for me, there was a world of difference. The V1 was very inconsistent and would burn up coils like no-ones business regardless of the settings. Since going to the V2 I've had very few problems and just about anything I throw at it works/tastes great. I have a Provari and an iTaste MVP as well as several eGo style batteries and the Zmax V2 holds it's own against all the rest in my opinion. I think in a round about way I'm saying that if it is at all possible, get the V2 or a Provari and I think you will find that Vaping is in fact worth it and can easily replace analogs .. Wishing you the best of luck trying to get this all figured out.
