Check the silicone cap to see if the metal flat piece inside is down and the funnel part is butting up to drip tip hole.

How in the world does this have anything to do with a burnt taste? It worked! I had a brand new vivi nova I've been playing with for 2 days and it's been terrible. I turned the little washer/funnel upside down and it's nowawesome? Oh well, guys, check these on all your replacement heads before you put them in.

Instead of making a new post figured i would put this here. I have a mini nova and a vivi nova, both the new version. Got them from sweet-vapes.com and everything from the kit besides for the blasted heads of these vivi novas are working great. I keep getting burnt plastic taste from my tanks no matter the fluid or voltage on my twists. Of course if I go too low on voltage I get barely any vapor or flavor and work up from there until it starts producing some vapor and flavor and the best i've gotten it is some flavor with a nasty plastic flavor after. My juice even ranges from 70/30 to 40/60 and I have only filled them up to the wicks at the most so to the 2.0ml line in the mini and 3.0 line in the big tank.

I've tried everything there is here except for rebuilding because i dont have the stuff to do so and im too noob to probably do it right. Nor to i WANT to rebuild... my goal was something simple to use/clean.

I have cleaned. I have dry burned. I let one sit overnight. I cut out the center foam thing even though it wasnt burn, after that one still tasted like crap i pulled it apart and there was no burns on the rubber grommet on the bottom and am too inexperienced to put it back together lol. I made sure the top piece is placed correctly, and besides if you put it on the other way it barely slides down so i figured that one was given. I cut one of the wicks to about half size. I even soaked a head with everclear, let it dry, filled the tank and let it sit 2 hours to hopefully "soak" the wick and it still had burnt taste.

I know its not just me from all the posts here about the issue but im losing faith in the glorified vivi nova. There is so many people that are perfectly happy with these out of the box. I have tried now 4 heads to the same result. Did I just get a bunch of bad heads?

The only other thing i can think of I've read here is being only a week into vaping are my taste buds fried and when that happens does everything taste burnt for a while? I did notice the malty toffee i have in a xxl carto tastes a bit different, but not burnt, and my ritual pot of coffee at work yesterday tasted a bit dull too but food doesnt taste any different.

<-- help the noobie please! I dont wan't to go buy a pack of smokes to get my nic fix for the day lol.

Broken Arrow Ok.
I don't have a clue it sounds like you have done everything suggested.
I just got back with a new mini vn with a 2.4 head filled it up waited about 30 seconds and started vaping, awesome taste and loads of vapor i can't imagine what your burnt plastic could be. I didn't even check what volts it was on untill later and it was 4.2, perfect.

There are occasionally some bad heads. These are made in China. I have yet to have a problem with my VN heads (knock on wood). I suspect the coil my be wound to tight, so juice is not reaching the coil. The coil is choking the wicks. Some of the heads take some time to break in and my improve with use. Try priming the coil. unscrew the top & remove the silicon sleeve. Slowly drip a few drops directly on the coil, reassemble and try again.

tried the drop on the coil too with no luck. Im leaning towards my taste buds dieing, reading more into it and this seems to be a fairly regular occurance and i'll have to dull through it haha. I just did a long rinse of a listerine mouth wash to try and get the burnt flavor out of my mouth at least and its not as burnt tasting anymore, just dull.

A tongue scraper may help as well.

You're partially correct. We use VV devices so we can turn the voltage up if we need to, but we also have them so that we can turn the voltage down if we need to. The idea is simply having the ability to adjust the voltage to the needs of whatever atty/carto we happen to be using.
It's possible that I might grab that fire breathing LR i06 this evening. That thing would make smoke come out your ears at 5v, but it's a pretty nice vape at 3.5-3.7v. Kinda nice that I can adjust my PV to it's needs.

Agreed. I got my pv yersterday and when I took it over 4.5 the juice tasted nasty. I use my 1.5 ohm DCt at 3.0v and my Ce2 Clearo at 3.5v and its rocking my world vs the regular ego 510 bats I was using previously.

I might be wrong but it's fine for me. Warm and not burny. I am vaping VG no idea of that matters. What ever the reason my pv is producing clouds of vapor and I am happy. :D

Ugh same problem. Fresh out of the box I put the Vivi Nova tank onto a Vamo VV/VW, and K200 and I got this burnt taste/dry hit. I never liked the idea of those lengthy wicks dangling in the tank and this confirms my suspicion. I will put some time into trying to fix this though I don't agree with keeping the tank filled above 2.8ml or tipping it while vaping, or closing my right eye while standing on my left foot. Either the design is functional or not and these Vivi's are not. My T3's, Smoktechs, or ProTanks all work just fine.

I have been using the same vision vivi nova 3.5ml tanks for about the last 10 mos. I don't use tank cracker juices. If you learn how to rebuild your heads you will be money ahead. If it tastes burnt you are either using a non vision head{knockoff} or the voltage is wrong or you need to learn how to dryburn them. They take a bit of fiddling sometimes but I can't think of a more cost efficient vape.

IDK exactly what this means, but...I posted in another thread (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/440973-vivi-nova-problems.html) about it. Concerning the washer/funnel part. My Nova has worked completely satisfactorily from day one, with the original head. When I replaced it I had a problem. MFF was out of Vision heads but said these replacements would work (you can see them on their site, they're still out of originals). Well, with that washer/funnel part (which the originals didn't have), it wouldn't fit. Couldn't cap the tank. Long story short, I removed the funnel and it's working fine! No bad taste, great vape, etc. Don't know if this is wrong to do or not, but it's certainly working for me!
