I've started diluting these strong essencesThey way i did it tho was add 5:1 pg/essence and mark them with Max 15% Flavouring with my new sweet label maker.
Hmm your system of 10. if reccommended is 2.5% and some guy says he uses 2% in a recipe then you have to use... 8?% of your 10 right? Didnt quite get ur system..
I did like the fine tuning as you mention when you have dilluted it. adding 2-3 drops to a 5ml taste test made it hard to hit/pin point the amount of flavour. And i like to use 1ml syringes to add flavours.
When I mentioned pre-diluting to 10%, I was replying to someone talking about how cinnamon redhot flavor was too strong, even in a small amount. I had the same experience with that stuff. Even using a fraction of a percent was too much for me. So, if you're dealing with a flavor that works at less than 1%, the 10% dilution works out great. If .5% was the amount called for (undiluted) in a recipe, then I would use 5% (x10) of my diluted version. It's hard to make minor adjustments to .5%... not so hard with 5%.
I don't pre-dilute any of the TE or FE flavors. I'm using most of the tobaccos at around 3or 4 percent. Not hard to fine tune in that range IMO.
I guess for more precise testing in really small batches, I can see how pre-diluting the TE/FE would be handy though.
