but the way u did it is just a ratio for the flavors - like 5of/8 drops 3/8drops etc. it just makes it easier to perfect recipes because i figure out what i want to do to the flavor first THEN i worry about the base, have i been doing it wrong?

I don't think there is a right or wrong, it's whatever works for you. Most of us diy for ourselves at first, with flavors that we want or think we would like. Then tend to share if it something we think others might like. Personally I just pull up my Word document and I can duplicate the recipe exactly the way I made it the time before. As far as the base, my nic level needs to be somewhere in the 20-24mg range so I add my base nic first then add the flavor and dependent on how much flavor I have added I know I'm in my nic range. I def do not have it down to an exact science but for me it works.

i'm still making things i think i'd like (hence my simple recipe above) but i did it that way so i can replicate any size on the same recipe - and while experimenting i simply keep track of the total number of drops and how many from each flavor and unless it's a really strong flavor i keep the flavor% at about 20 - if it's really strong then i knock it down to 15 or even 10% but i try to make it replicable because i try to experiment at 3ml, then if i like it i make bigger batches. so if i use ratios i only have to multiply the ratios by the size difference

I keep my recipes by drops, not percentages because....well....it's a lot easier for me to count 3 drops then figure out what the percentage is. I know how many drops 10, 15, and 20% is in 5 or 10 ml.

If your recipe is for 5 ml and uses 3 drops, then if you make 10 ml you use 6 drops. It's still just multiplying. Maybe I'm missing what you're saying?

Do you use a different base for each flavor you mix? Maybe that's where the confusion comes in?

I just have a huge batch of my base already mixed to the nic I want in a dark jar in the fridge. Then I draw out how much I want. I don't measure out drop by drop my base for each bottle of juice i make. I don't switch up nic mg's.

well i have to for anyone other than myself - i only vape 24-36mg - nething else and i start looking for a cig to have w/ it - or become anti-social enough that my best friend has offered me cigs - and watching PIF a lot of ppl vape 12-18mg. i wouldn't want to give some1 a headache to taste 1 of my DIYs so since i'd need a different base neway might as well make it to order. so i still count drops but only as ratios like my example:
3 of 8 drops 3/8
and 5 of 8 drops 5/8
etc.

i noted the VG extra because I noticed w/ how that coats my mouth, it can add a creamy effect.

I see both your points actually. Having a fixed percentage makes whipping up whatever size batch in whatever nic amount far easier. Add in to that that not all drops are created equal.

However when tweaking a recipe keeping track via drops is much, much simpler. Because the math could start to get tricky really quick when adding a drop of this, and a drop of that making some-odd 10.063 ml batch... Measuring nightmare.

but it's also easier using ratios because i'd MUCH rather just shoot half a mil then count out all kinds of drops - if i was making a huge batch like 12oz i'm using a syringe not no dropper - ratios come in handy there would u rather count out 3/8 of 1/5 of the bottle or would u rather count out a few thousand drops?

Light bulb.

You are saying 8 total drops...5 out of 8 flavor A and 3 out of 8 flavor B. I thought you were posting fractions of a drop.

Now that I figured that out, I'm still not sure how that is different than saying straight up 5 drops, 3 drops.

Well, the bottom line is if it works for you, all right!

I see what yall both are saying too, and as Lu said, there is no right or wrong way. I do some of all.

I start with my nic base (whatever nic amount I may want to make x2 or x3 or x4 if I"m being really lazy and haven't mixed any up). Then I add my drops, and may have to adjust, or I also add my dropperfulls (if it's another recipe) and my bits and crumbs (if I want a lightly mentholated recipe) and then shake and then add maybe a little more PG (depending on how many drops I've added) and then my VG (cuz I like it thicker) and then Viola.. set then taste.

I guess it's all a matter of taste, and how you like to "cook". Some people are more exact, some 'wing it', some measure by sight, some by utensils... I think mixing these recipes is a similar experience. As long as we are careful with the nic, and this isn't something that is 'bought and sold' and therefore needs to be 'exact', I don't suppose it really matters.

HTH!
and I am really looking forward to trying out some of these recipes! Thanks for sharing :)

oo.. I haven't tried that, Clumsy. How would you do that?

It's easy Leanne...just mix up your flavorings to a seperate bottle, like 30 % of this, 50 % of that, 20 % of the last flavoring...and keep them in a seperate bottle. Don't add it to any nicotene juice or liquid.

I always keep a big bottle of just pg/vg ( 50%/50% ).

I just get a small bottle, add the vg/pg mixture to about almost 3/4 full, drop your 100mg nic by drops you need into that...then several drops of the flavoring mixture to almost fill the bottle ..shake.

Some days i need stronger flavors than others. IF so, i always just add more flavoring....remember to always leave room to add more if needed.

Works for me.

I hope this makes sense...lol..im definately no expert and i just mix stuff around to find things that i like. There's only a few flavors that i really like vaping so it's hard for me to find things that i really love. I basically just stick to my peppermint/sweet flavor and the butterscotch that i love. But i do like trying different things.

Thanks Clumsy. I don't totally understand, but I think I get the gist. Do you mix all your juices, each day? How do they have time to "meld"? I find that mine always take a day, at least, to bring out all the flavors. They seem to get stronger as each day goes on.

Can you PM me a simple recipe for your peppermint candy? :D I have some peppermint (about 5mls of viking vapor, I think), so when I saw that post, I'd love to do that to it!! I've been itching to try your PM candy!

Hey Leanne... I always have 3 (2 oz brown glass bottles w/drippers) of my all day vapes mixed and kept in the fridge. I fill up a 3ml bottle of each of them to use daily....sometimes i just take 2 with me when im at work , but i always want 2 different flavors with me at all times.

So , yes i agree that some flavors have to " meld" together to bring out the flavoring...thats why i always keep those 3 made in the fridge. The ones i make with the previously mixed flavorings, well...the flavorings have meshed together well and i just make it strong.

I've made a few things up from the posted recipies and they are good, but not something i want to vape all the time..i always go back to those 3 favorites of mine.

I constantly vape my candy cane, TV's Tastyfinger & Butterscotch cookie. The rest i keep mixed flavorings in bottles in the fridge as well, i just mix up 3ml bottles for myself when i take the notion that i want something else.

That viking vapor's peppermint can be made into candycane with one simple addition....sweetener. That's all i usually use to make my candy cane...and sometimes a little extra vg if the peppermint is too strong. I sweeten it up alot...and i usually use splendex or Perfumer's apprentice sweetener and i have a new one called Ez-Sweetz that is good. Just add sweetener to that peppermint and wallah...candycane.

Hope this helps. Let me know what you think of that sweetener in the peppermint.

Im sorry , i keep posting in the recipe thread....Sometimes, my fingers keep typing, rambling on....Julesy you can delete all these if you want after leanne gets to read it, i promise i wont get offended....and this is suppost to be for recipes only.

Thanks Girly! I'll try that next time I'm in the "lab" :D I have both those sweetners.. well, I have the PA 'sweetner', the sucralose, and EM. Mayhaps I'll make 3 different bottles.

I didn't think it was good to refrigerate the juices? I know i've read that before.. are you only chilling the flavors, not the nic? (so confused)

thanks for all your help!

I keep it all in the fridge, the vg / pg, nicotene , flavorings..all of it. I have a shelf dedicated to vape...haha.

It keeps everything fresh to me, nothing has gone bad on me so far....other people say not too, but it works for me.

There are some flavors that can precipitate out of the solution in the fridge, and then there's that fridge light and temperature fluctuation when opening/closing a lot that bothers me. The basic principle is keep it in a cool, dark, and dry place. If the fridge works, great. A pantry or cabinet in a decently air conditioned room works fine, too.

Not really an original recipe, but for those out there that like TV AC but feel it's "too much" for an all day vape, try this:

Boba's Bounty VG
TV AC

In a 3ml bottle, drop 15 drops of BB in the bottle, and then fill with AC and shake to mix. The BB is a very mild (yet very tasty) tobacco flavor, but mixed with AC not only tastes great, gives the AC ALOT more vapor as opposed to the max mix you can get from TV (assuming your using 24mg), but also "tones down" the AC just enough to where it still tastes like AC and turns it into a not so overpowering all day flavor vape :)

I'm trying to use PA's Bavarian Cream to come up with a good sweet base that I can use to add other flavors. But I can't seem to get this to taste like much of anything :( Tried adding a little French vanilla, sweetener, marshmallow etc. Would anyone care to share some tips or a recipe for a nice sweet creamy base (pudding like) that I could then use to add other flavors to?
Thank you so much for sharing all of your recipes!
