Hi,
Don’t feel badly, we learn from our mistakes!
Sorry to hear you got suckered in.
Happy that your account was empty! Just so they couldn’t bleed your account dry!
But, literally thousands of people get suckered in like that every day!
After over 2 decades of doing research & testing of products for individuals and businesses, I can tell you that too many people are so eager to get a "Great Deal or A FREE Deal " that they never look for the little faint grayed out text that says,
TOS or
Terms Of Service.
I wrote an article not too long ago, in which I told others that the "TOS" is where all the really Good and Important Information about what they are about to get into is hidden.
I'm going to break a rule I've had about not sharing my tactics for uncovering
“A Skunk” or “A Bad Apple” in the world of business, and share with you a way to find out what’s really in that “Incredible Offer”.
A trick I've used for years online –
When I get an email offering some incredible deal I go to the site, not to purchase, but to find out what new ways of covering up facts are being used. At first I’m greeted with a page that has a form on it that they want me to fill in with name, address, phone, email address, etc.,.
So, I fill it out because that's usually the only way anyone can get to the "TOS" page.
But!........Here's the trick, I fill it out with all fictitious information except for an email address which I use only for these offers.
Then they take me to the page where they want my Credit Card Number and that's when I'm able to locate the “TOS “ page with all the catches to the offer.
The Words “Terms Of Service” or the “TOS “ abbreviation for the legal page is always very faintly colored.
The Words or The Abbreviation might be located near the bottom of the box to fill in the Credit Card Number.
But, more often than not it is located at the very bottom of the page somewhere.
And…….it always says that I'm about to give them permission to use my Credit Card Number to repeat bill me every 14 days, 30 days, or so on. It also says that I only have a certain amount of days to try the item, return it or they will start billing right away.
See I got to the "TOS" page and found out what I wanted to know and never gave them anything but an email address I use just for this purpose.
So go set up a free email account and use it only to find out about the Terms of The Offer before you take them up on it!
Smiles
