It is a ceramic coating according to ProVape. I would guess it is probably the chemically bonded type rather then the heat bonded type, simply for cost reason. The heat bonded ceramic coatings are more durable but very expensive. Given that though, it would be an extremely durable coating even as it is, if it is a chemical bond.

The ceramic coating is fairly durable but I did give up on it. As of now I only own a Satin Silver V2.5 Provari with Green LED...
Previously I had owned 2 Black Satin Provaris and 1 Mini Black Satin Provari.. I am extremly careful with my mods, never droped them and always carried in a SuperT felt bag when leaving the house.. No matter how much I babied them the ceramic coating developed a few small marks or scratches where you could see the Stainless Steel underneath.. Needless to say they I sold them all due to the fact Im OCD when it comes to my mods and like em perfect... Im very happy with the Satin Stainless V2.5 I currently own... No finish to worry about, not to say you cant scratch it, but that takes a drop or a hard bump to do.... Even though I have heard it might be a fingerprint magnet I plan on ordering a Polished Provai Mini when they become available:D with Green LED..... It the best of the LED colors IMO...I have owned them all......
