Do Vapers hate Smokers? How do we feel about current smokers now that we vape.

i am curious to know the consensus from the group as to vapers feelings about smokers.

I was on the blod-o-sphere today and someone was arguing that vapers hate smokers and have been pretty much ganging up on smokers by trying to gain freedom for vaping while also trying to reform them to move to vaping. This person also claims to be a part of this forum and has some pretty strong feeling about us. I figured this person was probably trolling for an argument. It got me to thinking about it enough to want to start a thread so I can get your thoughts on the matter.

As a former smoker with a little over 6 months tobacco free and over 9 months of vaping personally I can say I don't have any animosity toward smokers and really don't care what people do. My biggest annex in all the controversy is that vaping is being classified as tobacco and we are being pushed into the same banished locations that I just walked out of.

I think you were talking to a troll. I don't think I've ever met a vaper who hates smokers, though some of us probably do get a little too enthusiastic about trying to convert people.

I know I do. It was so hard for me to quit I just want everyone to know how easy it is. of coarse that was about three months ago, but I'm still excited to tell somebody that is asking.

I certainly don't hate, or look down on, smokers. Up until 6 months ago, I was one. I'm very happy being a vaper now. I don't try and convert smokers to vaping. If asked, I'm happy to explain how it works, how much money I've saved, how much better I feel. If they're interested, I tell them to come here to ECF and read (and read and read and....) and where I buy my gear.

The way I see it, they'll switch...or they won't. It really doesn't matter to me either way. And it certainly wouldn't make me harass them or get judgmental about them.

Naw. Definitely don't hate smokers. That's just not a thing. But I do have to admit...well...the cigarette smoke does make me cough now, and it doesn't smell great in smoking areas, but then again it really never did smell that good in areas where they jammed all smokers together, especially those rooms at airports where everyone was chain smoking before/after a flight or between flight. It's just that with vaping all things seem fresher and cleaner?

Huh? Nope, not at all. I used to be one. Even though I don't smoke anymore, that smoker-person is still in me. I get it.
I still have friends and family that smoke.
Though I do hope they find vaping and that it's as life changing for them as it was for me.

I honestly don't think vapers hate smokers. At least most of us. If I did, I would have to hate my kids......ain't gonna happen.

There are quite a few members that still have a couple of cigs a day. It can be harder for some to make the switch. Yeah, smoke stinks. We were there once. I have a problem with anyone not being tolerant of others for whatever reason. No one is perfect, god knows I'm not.

We feel we can rant here about how smokers stink. Not saying its right and I don't participate. I have talked about how I smelled of smoke after being out at a smoking bar. My band mates are smokers. I still go outside with them while on break from practice.

Smokers are people too. Period.

Interesting that you pose this question. My good friend is a smoker and just the other day asked me if I was going to turn into one of those ex-smokers who now hates smokers and complains and whines etc. I said of course not.

Maybe a better question would be do vapers hate the smell of cigarette smoke? I have converted few co-workers into vaping but I never pushed them about it. I let them approach me with questions. No, I do not hate smokers nor the smell of their cigarettes.

Hubby is a smoker and while even as a smoker I never liked people smoking while I ate or enjoyed the smell I don't hate smokers....I still am one in some ways.

Do not and never could hate smokers---thats a bit too hypocritical for me. I do however not miss the smell and general grossness of being a smoker and being in smoking environments, how it yellows everything etc.

Excellent point. This person was all about vapers pushing different mods and equipment on them. :/ I thought is seemed odd that a vaper was being that pushy about it. The only ex-smokers i know that are jerks about smoking are the reformed ones that quit the hard way and are still bitter about it.

I've not seen vapers "hating" smokers per se. Myself I don't think my friends think I'm trying to convert them. They know I'm in to vaping & they know if they are interested in learning more about it they can ask me about it. They are also open to going with me to vape related activities so we're cool there. So I have no animosity toward smokers.

HST I can understand why smokers might feel hated on by vapers. We call cigarettes stinkies & talk about how bad they are the same way any anti smoking person would. I think from a smokers point of view vaping might also seem a little elitist. That's just my perspective though.

edit: I will say that unlike many vapers I don't mind cigarette smoke too much though. I don't like the smell of it IN things. But I don't really mind the smell on people who smoke or the smell of a cigarette itself. But I never liked that stale cigarette smell when I was a smoker so I've not really changed in that way.

I don't hate smokers. I don't dislike smokers. I think the way they are treated these days is a disgrace. If they become vapers, more power to them. If they don't, that's okay, too. I just want to make sure the tools are there for the switch to be made, if they wish to.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about calling them stinkies or a degrading term. I call them what they are....cigarettes or cigs.

Many of us also have allergies or other health problems that prevent or hinder us in our journey and find it difficult to "just quit".

We even have a support group right here on ECF for those of us who just can't switch over as easily as some do.
