Do Vapers hate Smokers? How do we feel about current smokers now that we vape.

I will intentionally put myself in situations where people are likely to ask about my PV (groups of smokers standing outside, etc...) and at those times I generally pull out some flashy APV (SVD, MVP v2, maybe an eVic) intentionally driving curiosity...

I never initiate the conversation. I wait for one of the smokers to ask... and in a group setting one of them always does...
I ease into the conversation about vaping, letting them drive how much or how little information they want.

However, as the group looks like it's starting to break up, I always whip out a small stealthy device and do a quick lesson on stealth vaping and how that alone could keep them from being banished to the texas heat every time they needed a smoke, even if that's all they used it for... I invite anyone who's interested to email or call me and hand out cards to those who are interested...

But it's the stealth vaping demo that almost always grabs the most attention!

I've, at least partially, converted a lot of smokers... And from my personal experience, I know that in many instances just getting them to start by stealth vaping in the bathroom or at their desk is enough... Then the magic of the atty and the juice takes over and in time will do the rest :D

That is an excellent way to get people interested in vaping. Being pushy about something we're passionate about never seems to win many votes. I'd rather have people interested in vaping then driving them away.

Thanks... I find that I get a much more favorable reaction if I let the SMOKER initiate the conversation. At that point we're just talking, I'm not coming across as proselytizing... And I notice that even those with that obvious disapproving scowl over in the corner, are listening intently to the conversation :D

The State of Confusion
I think vapers hate ignorant non-smokers more than anything!

Smokers....no, we all were smokers, and many of us still smoke an analog from time to time, just to remind us how nasty it is...

I personally was a cigar smoker, and started vaping over three years ago, and still smoke a fine cigar once in a while, but naturally smoking cigars while at work , especially good ones is highly impractical.

I have no ill feelings towards any smokers.

Though to be totally honest I still giggle at the vision In my mind (that's a scary place to start with) where I can picture an army of well dressed well groomed vapers going door to door in pairs asking people, "Do you Smoke? Have YOU Found Vapor?" And handing out little tract books quoting vaping scripture...

Your concern that vapers are looking down at and trying to force their wills upon smokers is the exact reason why I started this thread. I read the same exact argument in a blog and as I argued in that blog, I have not seen this attitude or felt that the community at large is loathsome toward smokers. Granted there have been a few people that have made snide comments and one (1) that sought assistance to force his wife to move to vaping, but reread the tread. Many people posted in support of his spouse and advised that he was forcing his will on her. I guess it all depends on how you look at it, but things like this are not "A" typical and should not be used to characterize the entire community. What is typical in what I've seen here is that there is support for individualism for a persons right to choose to smoke or vape, or both.

It is unfortunate that you are taking any of these instances personally and I've see no personal attacks on anyone. I believe this would be against the forum rules and the monitors would have flagged them quickly. Trolling is not allowed. You can read from the posts in this thread, that nobody says they hate "smokers", we as smokers are dealing with our addiction the best we can and the experience is and always will be a personal one. How I feel as a smoker, that no longer smokes but vapes, is my feelings. We all share our experience with each other just like other forums share their feelings and experiences about their interests, whatever they are. It is a liberating feeling to be able enjoy my nicotine fix indoors and walk around in public without being corralled into the smokers box. I can see where smokers might be a little more then jealous about that, especially since the news media is working hard to equate the two as the same.

It is beyond frustrating to find someone, claiming to be a vaper, posting negative comments on a blog that is supporting e-cigarettes and providing a valid argument to the general public in our defense. It will never be to our benefit to bash vapers on a blog during a time when we are, as a group, being singled out the same way we as smokers are. Vaping does not have the same properties as burned tobacco, but we are experiencing the same attitude as though we are burning tobacco. I do not see where the vaping community can rally around tobacco as a means to support ourselves. There is just no way I can do that, because vaping is nowhere near as dangerous as smoking tobacco but at the same time I will not stand in the way of my own right to smoke tobacco if I so choose to. :2c: + :2c:

Not sure why you replied to me...

I never made a blog, period.

As far as taking ANYTHING people say "serious".....in general I never take anything serious. Life is too short, and I have FARRRR to awesome of a life to worry about other people's bickering.

I was just saying that I have seen MANY examples on here, where vapers look down on smokers. If you choose to ignore that many vapers do that, I have no problem with that!

Oh, and obviously the concept of a person, or people looking down on another person, or other people, for ANYTHING is an INDIVIDUAL choice...except for hate groups and republicans (just kidding , ;)

I've never said that ALL _____ hate all ______. I was simply saying I've seen multiple instances of people who quit smoking cigarettes , who now vape.....mention how disgusted they are of "smokers", or how they don't understand why people still smoke, or that they can't understand why they can't force smokers to vape...etc, etc.

Sure, maybe there are 10 vapers who understand and accept smokers, for every 1 vaper who doesn't. I don't know, and frankly I'm not worried enough about it to care, lol. I was just posting on what I've observed, that is all.

supermarket, thank you for sharing and sorry if I came across a little strong on the reply. I was a little sensitive at the time with regard to a general statement that vapers hating smokers. I never thought that smokers would feel we as vaper's hated them. It just didn't occur to me that when someone was making a nasty comment about smokers that it might turn a potential vaper away from the group as a whole. I do not disagree with what you're saying here. I hope this thread will be viewed as a confirmation that we as a group are not looking down upon smokers as individuals. I noticed that in some of the posts people just don't like the smell of cigarettes anymore. For me, the smell of tobacco is awesome, but the smell of burning tobacco is just plan nasty smelling. That a good thing for me because if I was drawn to the smell of a lit cigarette I would probably smoke it. :toast:
