How do you feel about smokers now?

I was just thinking about this today.

Even though I'm still new to this, and I've only been off analogs for six days (yippee!), I feel bad for them. I think so many of them don't really know that there is another option. I'm going to do my best to let the smokers in my life know that they have that option.

We went to a casino over the weekend and I had smokers all around me and it was awful! The smell gave me a headache. I guess the downside of quitting cigarettes is that your sense of smell comes back and you can't believe you smelled that bad for all those years. I just wish more people would give vaping a try.

My opinion of smokers hasn't changed. My thoughts on being in a room with smokers has though. I can't deal with it. It gags me. But then I can't be in a room full of people vaping either for the same reason. But I don't care about the smell or being around smokers outside. As long as I can breath I have no complaints.

I feel sorry for smokers...

...who have to deal with ex-smokers, who have taken all that inner guilt and projected outward, and have apparently no problem hating on what was once the same face they saw in the mirror.

Other than that, I feel smokers are good people deserving of whatever info on vaping I can share with them and that they may be open to hearing.

You hit the nail on the head. Nothing worse than an ex smoker looking down on a smoker. I feel us ex smokers are lucky we found a way to quit. Those still smoking haven't been that lucky yet, and treating them like lesser people exemplifies the worst sort of people.

I think it has made me a bit evangelical. If it's someone I know especially, I'll try to sell them on vaping. I managed to get the very lady who sold me my first kit at a gas station a month and a half ago to try it. She loves it. I'll show off my mod and my tanks and let them smell my juice. Anything to get someone else to stop. I have to try to force myself not to be too outgoing on it though. Big difference between looking like a tool and showing someone respectfully how to use a new one.

I smoked for 40+ years and wished I hadn't poo-pooed the e-cig a few years ago. (I thought it was a gimmick) I wish more people would research and get with the program, like I should have back then.
I don't feel the need to treat them any different but I really don't prefer to be around them because of the smell. Now I feel bad because of all the people I ...... off when I did smoke............

Just because I quit smoking doesn't mean everyone else around me needs to quit also, unless they choose to. There will likely always be an ashtray in my house if a friend needs it and if a friend that smokes is riding in my car they will always be welcome to smoke in my car.

After all this time it still amazes me how my sense of smell now allows me to smell lingering cigarettes smoke so strongly. Even today as I walking down the hall in the building where I work, where no smoking is allowed, I knew that even though there was no one in the hallway, sometime earlier a smoker had walked down the hall as their cigarettes smell still lingered in the hallway. Just because I dont personally like the smell of cigarette smoke today doesn't mean I should treat those that choose to smoke any different then I did when I was still smoking.
