i am curious to know the consensus from the group as to vapers feelings about smokers.

I was on the blod-o-sphere today and someone was arguing that vapers hate smokers and have been pretty much ganging up on smokers by trying to gain freedom for vaping while also trying to reform them to move to vaping. This person also claims to be a part of this forum and has some pretty strong feeling about us. I figured this person was probably trolling for an argument. It got me to thinking about it enough to want to start a thread so I can get your thoughts on the matter.

As a former smoker with a little over 6 months tobacco free and over 9 months of vaping personally I can say I don't have any animosity toward smokers and really don't care what people do. My biggest annex in all the controversy is that vaping is being classified as tobacco and we are being pushed into the same banished locations that I just walked out of.

I do not think that vapors hate smokers. Some may dislike the smell of smoke on smokers.

It is not the fault of smokers that certain people or organizations in their ignorance wish to couple vaping with tobacco.

I am for every-ones right to smoke, vape, or even mainline some sort of IV-nicotine solution if that is what they wanna do. I have no animosity toward smokers. I'll still buy a pack or two of lucky strikes when I can find them.

I've had days where I had a dip on my lip and a smoke burning all while peeling a patch off my hip. How much is too much. So, so glad I decided to vape. :vapor:

Thank you everybody. It looks like we don't have any issues with smokers. I agree it would be hypocritical of us to have the feels of hate for a group of people we were all a part of for so many years. There was always a camaraderie around the smoking table at work that was kind of the bond that made us all friends just like vaping is for us now.

The first time I was in atlanta after being off cig's for a couple of weeks I wasn't sure where I could vape, so I went into the smoking lounge and just about dropped to the floor. It hurt so bad to breathe in there I couldn't stand it. I had a walk out. headed to the bathroom to hide. It was a few months before I could even walk in there again. I still don't like to hit the smoking lounge. makes my lungs hurt just thinking about it.

OMG the smokers "lounge" is disgusting. I feel bad for all smokers who stop off in ATL airport & have to use that gross .... room. I have done it when I was a smoker & it's AWFUL!!!

edit: lol wow the sensor is sensitive isn't it.

Oh yeah. Symbols will get your words across. lol...The lounge's are the worst. Like smoking in the car for ten years and never opening a window. I don't think even a cow pasture comes close them.

There are very few people that I deal with on a day to day basis that I actually hate. I can't really think of anyone off the top of my head. There are quite a few people that I'm not particularly fond of, but hate? naw....

A lot of people that I love and that are very dear to me are smokers. My gf still smokes, she's always trying to quit and I've bought her numerous ecig products. Unfortunately she has it in her head that she needs a cig-a-like and I think that's a big part in her not being able to switch. But I don't push it. I have spoken with a great number of smokers that are interested in vaping. Several have even switched. Some completely, some still smoke but have cut way back.

My father smokes and it's been very detrimental to his health. I gave him my ego batteries that I started with and he uses it somewhat.

I feel that I was lucky in that I was able to make the switch completely with very little issue. I understand it's not so easy for everyone. I'm grateful that I found vaping and that it's worked for me so far. So much better than everything else I tried(which was everything...twice...or more).

I don't hate smokers at all, I have a great deal of empathy for them.

I'm on the same boat. One of the lucky ones. I really wanted to not be a smoker anymore. With a passion. But I really didn't want to give up the habit. So, vaping was simply perfect for me, and I had that extra bit of motivation stopping me from going back to cigs when the cravings came. Was already sort of disgusted at the thought of inhaling smoke and what it did to my health.

I can sort of tell who will stick to vaping when I talk to people about it. Some see it as a novelty. Some as a joke. Some simply wouldn't put up with anything that won't work 100% perfectly 100% of the time. Then there's those with the genuine desire to stop smoking but don't want to stop inhaling stuff.

I'm the last one. I love the feeling I got in my lungs from smoking and vaping has been the only thing that is the closest to smoking. If vaping wasn't available I would probably go back to smoking. I know its a bad thought but vapig is the only thing that's keeping me away from tobacco.

I like the smell of smoke on people. I no longer like the taste of it or to smell it on myself but I still like that whiff of it off of someone else who just smoked. I also smoked heavily for near on thirty years, why would I dislike smokers or anything? I feel like, it sucks that the smoking makes them more likely to get some kinds of sick, it really sucks and I hope they all try PV's just to minimize their risk.

eta, this is exactly how I am. it's the lung feeling and the smoke itself that satisfies me. vapor has been the only thing out of many that I tried, that worked

There are some tobaccos that do smell good, but most of the cheap smokes smell nasty. It's been years since I've smelled a really good smoke. Good thing since I might not be strong enough to resist it.

Personally, what I hate is labels!

I do not consider myself an ex-smoker, or a non-smoker... On forms I always mark those out and replace it with NOT Smoking.
because truly, I know deep in my heart that I'm only 1 cigarette away from 3 packs a day... I only ever gave up 1 cigarette, and that was the next one....

I'm just shy of the 4 year mark, and while I dislike the smell of smoke on peoples clothes, hair, cars, etc...
I can be walking past someone on the street who just exhaled that 1st full drag of a freshly lit cigarette, and the aroma is pure heaven!

That's when I reach for that dripper and the bottle of double strength nic juice!

As for the smokers... No, I don't hate them... I go out of my way to vape wherever groups of people are gathered to vape openly waiting for someone to ask about my gear... and I convert (at least for a little while) as many as possible...

I like the crappy cigarette smell. I liked it when I was a kid though too. My parents and grandparents and uncles all smoked, so for me I find it almost like a comforting smell. I like the smell of a pipe too, my great grandpa smoked a cheap pipe tobacco that was super earthy, and I keep looking for a liquid that smells like it!

I think you could resist it- I mean, even if you didn't resist it, the minute you take a puff the good flavor is kind of tainted right away by the actual smoke. Know what I mean?

You might end up just smelling the unlit tobacco deeply though....haha

Very good discussion here. I certainly have no animosity towards smokers; after all, I used to be one! Sometimes I admit that I have thoughts about smoking an analog, since they were part of my life for so long. After smelling smoke, I am reminded that I made a good decision to start vaping. There are always trolls out there that get kicks for stirring things up. I ignore them and go about my merry way. Life is too short to engender bitterness. Not my style. Perhaps some Vapers get over enthusiastic about that their latest mod and it may come across as elitist, but I don't think any of us here intend it that way. We just get stalk the mailman and drool over our new beauty. Just can't help ourselves! :D

I do know what you mean. It only takes a couple of good drags to go from awwh to yuck. I used to roll Tops brand and the smell of a fresh can was awesome. More then likely I would end up hacking up a lung if I did take a drag. I really polluted my lungs over the years and that is pretty much why I needed to find a way to quit altogether.
