What really bothers me now is seeing a cig .... tossed on the ground!

omg, i know, right? just the other day i was walkin down the street, minding my own business, and i looked down and what did i see? a nasty cigarette .... laying right there on the sidewalk. and it was still smoking!!!! of all the nerve. well that was the absolute titty limit. i whipped out my hunting knife from my fannypack, got down on my knees and, with both hands, i stabbed that ....! i stabbed it! i stabbed it good n' true! til it was in a thousand little pieces.

now by the time i was done i noticed a crowd had gathered around me, looking at me like i was one a them crazy people or something. but they didn't see it. no, they didn't see that there was a nasty, stinky cigarette .... there. in my way!! taunting me!!! they thought i i was just stabbing the sidewalk for no reason. lol. i mean how crazy is that? who stabs the ... sidewalk for no reason?

I'm still new to vaping, almost 3 weeks now, but I know without a doubt that unless I run out of liquid or break my vapeys I will never smoke again. Hell, even then I'd go buy some nic gum first now that I think about it.

But I was driving to work tonight (85 degrees at 8pm....ugh I miss winter already) and I had my windows down (trying like hell to get that smell outta my car)(not working) and the guy in the car to my right lit a cigarette and even though he was a good 10 feet away I could smell it and it was BAD. I scrunched my nose and hit the switch to roll my window up. He didn't see the look on my face but if he had I would have felt bad looking back.

That was ME less than 3 weeks ago and I want to make an effort to not become one of those militant non-smokers and in my experience EX-smokers seem to be the worst culprits. I remember the looks and the fanning hands and the coughs that *I* believe were fake 90% of the time and I remember feeling like a leper and looked down on. I don't want to do that because it seems pretty hypocritical as I was that person for 29 years. I'd rather they felt comfortable and maybe strike up a conversation about vaping.

How do you feel about/treat smokers?
I treat them the same way I always did. I'll never be an ex-smoker turned virulent anti smoking nazi. Were it not for vaping I'd likely still be one of them.

My only sentiments towards smokers is wishing they'd give vaping a try, preferably in an environment free of propaganda arrayed against it in concert with a government more attuned to the welfare of citizens rather than the continued enrichment of corporate benefactors.

I don't feel any differently about them than I did when I was one of them. Unlike so many others I don't really understand, I don't mind the smell of smoke whether that's from a cigarette or a mesquite bbq but I don't like cigar smoke and I've never, ever, smelled what others describe as a bad smell on any smoker when they're not smoking. Like I said, I don't get it. My Hubby has always been a non-smoker and he doesn't like smoke when he has a cold but only then and I've asked him to be really candid with me about any body odor I might have. He's never smelled anything bad on me. Just sayin... I think whatever odor there is has to be a very personal sensitivity and maybe a part of hypersensitive sense of smell that comes with quiting the smokes. I got that when I quit and it was awful. I smelled things I never did before but it was a phase that passed. Once my nose got accustomed to a new smell I didn't notice it any more. I guess finding smokers "stinky" is a good thing if the thought of smelling that way themselves keeps some from smoking but I've, personally, never experienced it.

exactly the same. even though i was a weekend-only (drinking) smoker for 25 years i have no problem being trapped in a room full of cigarette smoke. part of that may be due to my nature i guess.

no one is allowed to smoke in my house or in my car, but those rules have been in place since day one and also apply to myself.

Closet anti smoking nazi here and I keep it in the closet. It’s not the smokers that I’m mad at, it’s BT, BP and government greed. Smoked for 43 years and have been stinky free just over a year. I think the worst part about quitting smoking is getting your sense of smell back 9she says half in jest). I could not believe how bad cigarettes (and my dog’s poop) smelled. I don’t really know any smokers—save for a neighbor who thinks he’s hiding it from his wife—but when I see a smoker I feel pretty badly for them. I’d never say anything nasty to them, I tried everything to quit and couldn't. Agreed that rude smokers can kiss my eGo but the rest of them are no different than any of us before we tried vaping. It’s heartening that so many here are willing to talk to strangers on the street if approached about vaping. You guys rock!

I quit 4 months ago today. Stale cigarette smoke or a bunch of people smoking in a confined space kind of bugs me. But a freshly lit smoke still smells really good to me, always has.

I'm the exact same. Five months off cigs but I still enjoy the smell of a freshly lit cig. I'm attracted to smoking circles outside to catch a whiff.

I treat smokers how I want to be treated. I refuse to become one of those hypocritical ex smoker holier than thou types. I hated those when I smoked, and I still do. I won't become one.

I used to smoke like a chimney in my vehicle. Everyone knew I smoked but when they got in my car they would always say "you must not smoke in here". For some reason my smoke smell never stuck inside my vehicle.

I work with smokers and to say it bluntly, they stink! I still have to work with them so I try to get upwind whenever I can. I don't ridicule them or make faces, most of them know I can't stand the smell so once they see the smoke trailing towards me they move and apologize. I was inflicted with the same issue they are dealing with. All i can do is be the shining light so they may one day quit the same way I did. That is how I got started. A guy at work was vaping and I asked him questions. Three months later I bought my first setup and have not touched a smoke since. I believe if we become the militant ex-smokers others will not understand that we are trying to make better choices in our lives. It is hard to hear the message when it is force fed with derogatory remarks.

This is a subject I have thought about a lot. When I was still smoking (only a month ago) I was the first one to stand up and demand our rights as smokers. Several years ago, when the city council in out town decided to pass all the anti smoking laws, I attended all the meeting and spoke up at all of the meeting. The local newspaper even put one of my speeches on the front page once. As a business owner and employer of 15 other people, I feel I had the right to made what decision should be made in the building I own. Out of the 15 employees, only 4 did not smoke. I made sure that their work area was smoke free, but allowed the others to smoke in their offices. That was the first questions I got when I quit smoking, "are you going to make our building non smoking" my answer was NO. And it will remain that way.

My wife still smokes and I have asked her a few times if she was going to try the e-gig since it worked so good for me after smoking for 41 years, all I get is "THE LOOK", any one else married as long as I have been (31 years) knows what look I'm talking about. And since I would like to live long enough to see what it feels like to be an "EX-SMOKER" I'm not going to push it. The other night when we got in my vehicle to go somewhere, she lit up and I said," I DON'T SMOKE IN HERE ANYMORE" got the look again! I may be dumb at times, but I ain't stupid!!

I pity them, for they know not the joy of vaping... The flavors... The joy when you get a gear set up that does it for you... The realization that in a few months you'll be able to honestly say you've saved money...

It's much like sitting there drinking freshly ground coffee that was brewed in a french press, eating Belgian chocolate, and watching someone eat a hershey bar and drinking instant "coffee"... It's hard to hate them, for they are genuinely ignorant of the beauty they can experience.

One thing I really miss about the "good old days" was the smoking section on airplanes. People there tended to chat with each other, and in general, turn the flight into a sort of a party. The front section of the plane was basically a graveyard. Nowadays, the whole plane is like that.

Seattle to Dubai and back. Six times a year. I couldn't wait to cut line at customs so I can get my smoke on, then get my bags. Now I'll just smile and chuckle to myself when I watch the smokers hustle.
