Make it a tube mod and bye-bye screen.

That's absolutely not necessary. It wouldn't be the most efficient use of space. But, then, there's more volume in which to stuff a battery, so the wasted space probably won't change the size all that much at all.

Basically, just imagine a darwin. Put it inside a tube and make a window for the screen……then expand the battery to take up the diameter of the tube instead of being encased in a flat rectangle. You could even move the screen farther away from the center to make it easier to read.

Then get rid of the arm and put the connector on the center of the top…like most other mods.

I get why people like it, but I think that would be better.

Mine won't be a tube but as soon as I get my CNC machine I'll be making something with the DNA board that is a little closer to the tube form factor. No screen though. Screens aren't that usefull imo. If you have a live variable setting (i.e. you can change it and immediately take a hit to check it) it's faster to just put your juice on and dial it in for your different flavors. the screen is just another 'thing' that isn't really needed. With VW you don't need to know your resistance.

I've got 2 provaris and I never look at the screen except when I'm changing voltage. I use the same brand/resistance carto and for my personal tastes the .2ohm variances I get on the cartos isn't a big enough deal to adjust the voltage so I basically never use my screen at all. I know how long my battery lasts in general and I just change it out every morning before work.

When I first started vaping I was REALLY into all the little doodads and accessories for vaping. I had a bunch of egos and other little thingies, now I just want to vape. I buy pretty things now like fancy tanks and drip tips. I want the vaporizer itself to be simple and variable. The one I'm going to be making will be sort of a tube/box hybrid (it wont be a box but it wont be a tube, more of an ergonomic shape) I'll put a dial on it, a hand machined 510 connector for durability, and a mini USB port to charge it. The battery will be accessible but you won't want to take it apart to access it, it'll be better to just charge it. I'm also making a battery pack like those cell phone battery booster boxes that I can carry when I know it's gonna be a particularly long day and I'm going to exceed my single charge time on the mod itself (overnight fishing trip or a long party night).

This sounds very interesting! Good luck with it!
Just don't forget to post some pictures once ready!

To be honest, I seriously doubt you're going to see this from nhaler. I think they are done with the original Darwin as well. What you might see is someone manufacturing something that uses the DNA chip. What I don't know is what manufacturing capacity is available for those. It may be that a serious effort to do that would result in a shortage of DNA chips.

How complicated is it to wire one of those DNA boards up? I have a milling machine at home, a great skill set with electronics, and a heavy background in CAD. I've been kicking around the idea of just making my own VW and saying F it with trying to get my hands on a freaking Darwin.

BTW, I'm already in the same boat as you, I have one MOD, and thats all I need. I have several tanks and such, but I have no need for 27 bolts in a 27 colors and 6 egos in different sizes and stuff. I just need one working MOD.
